$5 less than Big W and $6 less than EB Games. Divisive story, but solid gameplay and beautiful world.

Dumb question.. will there be a collector's/limited edition of this game?
There is one… but might be out of stock:
https://www.ebgames.com.au/product/ps4/252773-the-last-of-us…Dumb question: what are you associated to?
Cheaper elsewhere: $28 at Harvey Norman or $28 at Amazon. Alternatively $38 for Steelbook Edition.
Finally got a 60fps patch for PS5 last week. I'm only a couple of hours in but having a pretty good time so far.
Enjoy! the game gets pretty crazy and has some amazing sequences.
It's incredable how this game even ran on the PS4 in the first place. If you have a tv with HDR, it ran stunningly on the PS4 pro.
$6 cheaper on Amazon.
Great game but get it from amazon or Harvey cheaper.
Is the PS5 version better or a straight port?
There is no PS5 version, it only got a 60fps update
It's been $28 at Amazon for almost a month now.
Shit game
Plus it does a dead copy of the David the cannibal boss fight from the first game
And the ending that’s supposed to ‘teach’ you about revenge, gives the other character revenge if you don’t win. Irony much? You aren't of the awakened and enlightened ones, hence why you don't get it 😂
The story isn't good. The fact that no one from WLF can mention the reason why Abby did that to Joel shows it is not well thought out at all. The writers have Ellie willing sacrifice herself for the man kind and disagrees with Joel's decision. Thus, if a WLF member simply explained why Abby did that, what exactly can Ellie say?
So, the writer is brave enough not to have plot armour on Joel, yet at so many key moments, plot armour is used (including the final fight). Basically, part 2 feels like it is geared towards the TV series, where TPTB simply can do whatever they want.
We get the story, but the problem is we also know the writers are more interested in the TV series (not a surprise since the co-writer has experience with writing for TV series). Also, we know Naughty Dog developers and graphics artists are very talented. However, it is obvious there are certain bits of story where it is more about the writers / directors wanting to show off what Naughty Dog can do, rather than making the story organic.
if WLF simply explained why Abby did that, what exactly can Ellie say?
I feel like you're leveraging your outside perspective a little too much here. In any case, Abby knowing why Joel killed her father then being saved by Joel still didn't dissuade her from brutalizing him.
I don't know why Abby or any WoLF would think their words could dissuade Ellie or give her new perspective— especially when the WLF & Scars are in an endless war because they can't reconcile their differences.
I didn't downvote you BTW, it's a fair point.
@Sandwich: There were changes made to the story. The original planned ending was the cycle of the revenge continues (i.e. Ellie would have her revenge) and completes the journey into the darkness in full. Golf club was also a change.
Jumping between time makes it difficult to get a good understanding of the characters. The ending has elements which could explain why Ellie did what she did, but, if the idea is for us to experience the story from Ellie's perspective, it makes no sense to hide information from us until the end.
Abby knowing why Joel killed her father then being saved by Joel still didn't dissuade her from brutalizing him
That's yet another problem. You put that perspective into player's mind, the writers then want the player to understand she did spare Tommy and Ellie. The story then tries very hard to make the player likes Abby (or see her good side), but then throw in another piece which messes that up.
The story is really messy and some of the plot holes can really cause players to tune out.
@netsurfer: Abby ‘learns’ nothing about revenge. She only holds off killing at the theatre because Lev intervenes (she feels obliged, not remorseful) & also her revenge is effectively rewarded at the end because she gets away with Lev. Was she thankful to Ellie for letting her go? Not in the slightest
And there’s more logical inconsistencies in the game@Boogerman: The lesson isn't revenge. It's why the consequences of Abby's revenge aren't pertinent to her character arc at all until the very end. The lesson is that hatred isn't conducive to finding peace.
@Sandwich: Hatred/revenge same shit. Abby didn’t learn a lesson, even at the end
the writers then want the player to understand she did spare Tommy and Ellie. The story then tries very hard to make the player likes Abby but then throw in another piece which messes that up.
I'm really confused about the points you're trying to make so we'll just have to agree to disagree.
@Sandwich: It’s pretty clear what’s being said.
It was quite dumb of the game to see Joel tortured & then the game tries to shoehorn you into feeling for Abby. Once it changed characters, I found it utterly stupid & so obvious that the writers were trying to get you to see another perspective. I just wanted to get over with the Abby section & it was a painstaking drudge to play the character. And the attempts at interplay with other characters within a group (particularly Abby’s) were indifferent/mediocre
It’s quite amazing how easily impressed people are with such an obvious narrative being pushed & then claim to be on an intellectually higher plain. In a way, it was a simple stolen idea of Rick v Negan in The Walking Dead. Nothing groundbreaking.
My comment was sarcasm by the way, I rated the story as a complete departure from what made the first so great, feels like a different writer altogether. Game play, graphics etc. Are top notch though.
dead copy of the David the cannibal boss fight
I can't tell you how to feel…but I just don't get how someone could put more than a few hours into literally any game if this level of repetition tilts them.
ending that’s supposed to ‘teach’ you about revenge, gives the other character revenge if you don’t win.
Teach? Win? What does this mean…?
Ahh. An apologist.
For all the ‘wonderful’ story writing, they copy a key boss fight from the first game. Pretty patheticI don't like the story of part 2, but I don't get what he was saying either. That said, the ending is bitter and there is nothing to look forward to.
The thing I am wondering is whether there is a legit reason for the ending to be like that (the writers have something planned - i.e. part 3). I can't help but think Laura Bailey [Abby] and Ian Alexander [Lev] have something to do with it. After all, Neil Druckmann really like them (and frankly, it is hard to imagine a part 3 without both of them returning).
Basically, I don't really buy the ending so I am trying to find / think of reasons for why it happened that way. However, I don't rule out a lot of people are fine with it and finding it organic enough.
I'm sure people will use cycle of revenge to explain the ending. To me, the main issue is that there are far too many times where I feel that I get the reasons for those events (because the story has to go a certain direction), rather than I genuinely believe the characters would behave that way.
Personally, I hope Naughty Dog can go back to more Uncharted like, more collaborative way to formulate story, rather than just Neil Druckmann's way or the high way.
Did anyone else get it for $20 for the last Big W sale?
Amazon did price match it so I reckon quite a few people got it for $20. I guess for Amazon, unless you have Prime, you need to spend $49 to get free postage.
Divisive story, but solid gameplay and beautiful world.
Wow.. For me it's the exact opposite. I'd think the story is great but gameplay is just meh. Beautiful world I do agree with.
Amazon is selling it for $28: https://www.amazon.com.au/Last-Us-Part-PlayStation/dp/B07Y9Z…
Maybe ask JB to price match?
