DAY's GONE hands down get this!!! it is a hidden gem!!! for 17 bucks its a ripper of a deal!!

      • Agreed

      • Got it sitting in the backlog, might have to pull it out.

      • I usually rely on IGN ratings before I buy my games. This doesn't look very promising.

"Days Gone received "mixed or average" reviews for the PlayStation 4 and "generally favorable reviews" for the PC version, according to review aggregator Metacritic.[17] Critics felt that the gameplay and world design showed promise but ultimately felt underdeveloped. The story was criticized, noting that it did little to characterize the protagonist, although Witwer's performance was praised.[29]

IGN awarded the game a score of 6.5/10 saying "Days Gone feels bloated, like a movie that goes on for an hour longer than it needs to or should've. It's messy and confused, but peppered with genuinely thrilling encounters with rampaging hordes of zombies and occasionally breathless firefights. There's a good game in here somewhere, but it's buried in a meandering storyline, repetitive missions, and just too much obligatory stuff to do without an eye on the smaller details that could have given it much more character. Some fine tuning and editing could have removed the tedium and celebrated what makes this game unique and interesting, but Days Gone rides strictly down the middle of the dusty road and never finds its rhythm."[25]"

        • I liked it better than Horizon Zero Dawn, and I'm not a fan of biker culture AND zombies.

It really is pretty good, especially with the 60fps patch and a whole load of updates.

        • I was on the fence and only bought it a month ago after many reviewers re-reviewed it post updates since it had many problems at launch. I really enjoyed it in the end and would recommend it. Other games I’ve loved include god of war, horizon and uncharted

        • +3

I used to think this till I played it, then I just said those reviewers are smoking crack. Because this game is amazing

        • +1

If you're willing to overlook cheesy characters/story, Days Gone is absolutely fantastic. The basic gameplay loop is one of the most addictive I've come across. I usually get bored of open world games like Far Cry, but Days Gone was the first PlayStation game I've platinumed, it never felt like a chore.

[edit] ok, with the exception of the start of the game. That did feel like a chore to play, and I think it put a lot of people off. The game doesn't really open up and get going until much later.

        • +1

Days Gone has received significant work since it's buggy release and is honestly a fantastic game, though I highly recommend playing on survival (hard) as it a) removes the ugly HUD and makes it more immersive, b) disables fast travel which again adds to immersion and c) makes your shots count (enemies are paper people otherwise).

This game also had one of the best 'Oh Shit' moments I've experienced in a story.

Shame many people missed this because of the early reviews, it's definitely a hidden gem. Most definitely worth a purchase at this price if not more.

      • -2

I was on the fence about buying it when it was cheap at Big W a few months ago, but didn't.
After this quote from the creative director and writer of Days Gone John Garvin: "If you love a game, buy it at f****** full price.",
        I think I'll give it a miss.

        • It's an awesome game, in 30 years of casual gaming this is one of about three games I've actually bothered finishing because it's that engaging. Who cares if the creative director is a bit salty.

          • -1

@mr fox: What I saw of it didn't grab me and even at a sub $20 price I wasn't sure if I'd get value out of it.
Then the creative director/writer came out with that quote and I thought well if he only wants people to buy it at the full price and I'm unsure even at a discounted price then maybe I'll give it a miss.

I've got plenty of other games in my backlog that I'd rather invest the time in.

    • Yes

      • +6

No. It just runs in 4K/60fps. There's no PS5 version.

        • Thanks. Got it.

          • +13

@congo: Very very very very very worth it!

            • @Hybroid: That good of a game?
              I’m undecided

              • +7

@Muscles: Incredible game. Would buy it at full price again, there is a reason it has barely been on sale.

                • +3

                  @Dingus: made by Nintendo?

                • +3

@Dingus: I agree. Rarely on sale as it’s still selling well. Amazing game. Pretty, relaxing and story is A+. Runs very well on my PS5. Highly recommended

                • +1

@Dingus: Agreed @Dingus, probably my game of the year

  • +1

    *Cries in Xbox.

    • I did until I got a ps as well (dosen't need to be ps5)

  • +4

Ghosts of Tsushima has really held its price, huh?

    • +1

Agreed, been waiting for it to hit $30 for a while

    • Probably going to be like that until there's readily available stock of the PS5.

  • +5

Note: Days Gone and Detroit Become Human are included in the PS5 PS+ Collection.

  • Does The Last of Us Part 2 have any dlc?

  • +13

FYI: Last Of Us Part 2 has recently received a PS5 performance patch that allows the game to run at 60FPS.

  • +1

Thanks OP, lowest I've seen for miles morales

  • +3

Still waiting for GoT to be ~$20-30.

    • +9

I know! Bloody tempted right now though 😅
      edit: I caved

      • +5

        Worth it

    • +4

Might be another year or so…I didn't expect it to get this cheap tbh. I pulled the trigger.

    • You going to wait for $8?

    • I think 38 is good enough, I pulled the trigger.

  • +2

Death Stranding for $15 is great. Pick it up for sure!

  • Its the Darryl game! Has it got Daryll in it?

  • +4

"…Both breathtaking and boring" - The Verge

Basically sums this game up for me…

  • Spider Man (first one) is $17. Who are they price matching?

  • Complete newbie to consoles here. Can some PS4 gurus clarify the below please
    1. I am planning to play these games offline. Not even planning on connecting the PS4 to internet. Is it possible or do I have to connect for the first time to register the game or something and from then on play offline?
    2. Planning to get some family games(ironman, littilebigplanet 3 etc) also from the other thread to play with kids in local multiplayer while in offline, same query as above on possibility?
    3. Are all these DISC versions or digital codes? Do I need to install any patches or anything via internet before I can start playing. If I need download any content to start playing, roughly how much data do I need?

Bought a PS4 Pro with VR bundle of gumtree yesterday.

    Thanks for your time.

    • +2

      1) Yes, you can play them online and No, you don't need to connect your ps4 to the internet for the first time
      2) If the game has local multiplayer available with extra dualshock 4 controllers, you should be able to play them without online subscriptions.
      3) Yes, they are DISC versions, in some games, patches are to fix bugs and to increase performance or stability, but you can start to play the games without any patch. The data depends on the game and the patch.

      • +2

        Arigatho kazuyamishima.

        • +1

from memory I'm sure there are a couple of games where the disc holds just the loader and then the rest of the game needs to be downloaded.. the majority may work from disc install though you may be missing out by not patching the games to improve performance and of course fix bugs.. some games had major bugs on release with huge day 0 patches.

If you don't want to give your details online, then create a bogus account and use an email alias or create a new mail account somewhere.

          • +1

@gizmomelb: I am currently using mobile hotspot at home(spending too much time on media, hence disconnected broadband :) )
Not a big gamer, just want to casually play from time to time. I suppose offline gaming experience should be enough for me.
            Thanks.

            • +1

@haiprazzad: Just be careful as some games have some content later added as patches. E.g. New Game + in God of War, or encounter select in uncharted 4 which you won't be able to do if you don't connect and download the patch

  • +3

Finally got GOT. Ill get around to it someday.

    • Ditto haha. Just bought it for the backlog

      • +5

This game is worth dropping everything.

        • +1

I'm many hours in, still not sure what all the fuss is about haha ;-) It's a good game, but nothing spectacular. Travelling around is boring, and I have no interest in exploring the world, all I want to do is get in sword fights which is great fun, but everything else is boring and repetitive.

          • +1

@onlinepred: Traveling is boring and have no interest in exploring….then why get an open world game in the first place? Just beeline through the story and you should be done in less than 16 hrs.

            • +4

@darkoverlord: Because games like GTA, RDR promote exploring, and I could spend days just exploring the huge dynamic worlds with loads of interesting things. That's the point of open world isn't it - to explore it?? If it's not interesting, then why not make it linear. In GOT I would rather fast travel everywhere all the time, in GTA/RDR I would take riding or driving every time.

              • @onlinepred: Zzz… so the side quests, the various shrines platforming, beautiful landscapes, various activities, mongol camps, Japanese folklore, mythical quests, some damn good storylines besides the main story doesnt incentivize exploring??? I've played red dead too so tell me whats soo different there compared to here."Loads of intresting things" in GTA V, lol think ur confusing content with gameplay loop in that case.

                • +1

@darkoverlord: These are all things that exist in the game yes, I'm not talking about side quests, none of which makes me want to just look around and explore, I want to explore to just get in sword fights with random mongols, that's it, nothing else interesting happens, it's all highly scripted. For instance, I'm not going to just stand on a road and see what happens, in GTA5 you could waste hours just watching traffic build up and people get angry and get out of their cars and try and fight you, then cops come etc etc etc. It's such a beautiful world that's begging to be explored, but gives no reward or reason to.

                  • @onlinepred: Yes ands just part of the gameplay loop. Not really an intresting point about the game but a fun part of the game. But for a game centered around feudal japan that aint gonna work. That is u standing in the middle of no where aint gonna bring the mongols to one spot. Instead they focus on giving the need to explore by giving u side quests which most of the time talk about the relevance of the place, folklore, mythos, something relevant which is not present in GTA V. Just going of what you said, none of the new ac series, witcher series, and to some extent the elder scroll series would "intrest" you and hence reinforces my previous that ur better of speed running the game to get ur fun out of that.

Edit: most of the time in GTA San Andreas, I just drove nonstop across the whole map for hours and stop playing it once I'm bored. Then i did the same thing with may be one or two missions the other day and so on. Its just me enjoying the gameplay loop.

                    • +1

@darkoverlord: Yea I guess the difference is that gta city feels alone, while got is a beautiful dead island. Go find fox then find den, find mongols kill them, rescue person, find fox then find den, follow bird, find mongols kill them, follow bird, repeat x100. Anyway all good mate, glad you like it! It was fun for me but agree with nearly all reviews that the environment is just boring yet beautiful. Sword play is great, but man story and characters leave a lot to desire. I still enjoyed it, but not so much as an open world game, just tedious.

    • +4

I thought the same. Started playing it just to test it out, found myself dropping everything else. I am now unemployed and divorced….

  • +2

Nice. Just in time for TLOU2's 60fps patch

  • -4

    What to get for $1

    • Coffee from 7-eleven.

  • Does anyone know if PS sub and PS4 controllers will go on sale?

  • +3

Detroit become human is a bargain for that price. Game is not for everyone, but if you like immersive storyline focused games, its one of the best.

    • +1

Agreed. Loved this game. One of the most intense I've ever played.

  • Own too many of these I'm yet to play.

  • +1

Ghost of Tsushima is super tempting but can't remember the last time I paid more then $30 for a game.

And I have no free time.

    • Same for me, the price is good but imagine not playing until it's like 15$

      • +1

Didn't realise there were so many people like me. I saw fallout 76 at Big W for $5 and was like 'nah, I'll wait til it's $2' hehe

  • Playstation plus worth it if I'm a casual gamer? I don't have that much time to play everyday

    • I'm in a similar situation and have it. I think it is worth it if you can get on sale. Think I paid c.$50-60 for a year and certainly got more value than that in the monthly free games. Of course, I haven't played any of those free games due to other time commitments, but saves me buying them which I would have done for retail therapy!

You can also play the games at any time after you get them, provided you have a PS+ membership.

    • Do you have a PS5? If yes, do you still have the free trial unused? If also yes, might be worthwhile to try it out and at least collect the PS Plus Collection. Quite a few games here are in there. However, you do need an active subscription to play them so you could wait till you have some free time and try it out.

OZBers normally get the AU version for ~$55 a year (though there were some really good deal for US version, however, US region of the titles are actually considered a different version so save games won't work). Whether it is worth it or not comes down to your gaming budget (and whether you intend to play online games a lot).

    • I'm actually going to say no - if you've got a PS4.

Compared to Xbox game pass, it's an absolute fail. You get one "decent" game a month (which is hit or miss on whether you'll actually like it), and 1 or 2 lower tiered games.

I actually can't believe they don't have psnow here in Aus yet.

  • +4

I bought Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales a few days ago for $68… spoke to Amazon support and they gave me the difference in store credit. Just an FYI in case anyone's in the same boat.

  • Is there a store selling TLOU2 for $28 that Amazon is price matching?

  • Im going to return GOT as it got it for $79 at EB games and get it from Amazon instead, does my save game data save automatically and will I continue where I left off with the new disk?

    • Yes. No save data can be stored to the discs themselves. It's all on your Playstation's hard drive

      • Sorry im confused as to what you are saying, if I get a new GOT disk, can I continue where I left off?

  • The Last of Us Part 2 (Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook) worth the extra $10?

    • +4

Is the steel book worth the extra? If so, yes.

    • +1

Unless you really want a steelbook case, otherwise it is not worth it. It is not the collector edition so no extra goodies. I find the stealbook case harder to get the disc(s) out. There is one slight advantage I guess. Due to it being a steelbook case, there is a smaller chance for the case to crack during transport. However, there is still plastic inside so it could still crack inside.

    • +1

Yes, this is exclusive and has Joel at the back of the Steelbook, different from the collectors or the special edition versions.

      • $10 for a printed photo of Joel at the back of a case?

        • +1

You are paying extra $10 for the steelbook, the printed photo of Joel is only an "extra"

  • +2

Why does Dreams never get mentioned in these lists? It's on sale too!

  • Does Dreams require a PS+ subscription to download content or even just play the base game?

    • +1

No subscription required. Well worth it at any price, let alone on sale.

    • Buy it now!
