Spilt coffee on my laptop so was looking for a replacement. Missed out on the Vivobook deal this morning but this doesn’t look too bad.
A few bucks cheaper than the last Amazon deal in this spec, which seemed pretty popular.

Yes I mentioned that in the OP
Or… Intel 11th Gen and 512GB SSD
https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-swift-3x-14-inch-15-113…
for $768 (after Cashback)
This is the first laptop I've seen with dedicated Intel Xe graphics.
I wonder how easy it'll be to upgrade to 16gb
According to this, it's single channel with a spare slot
According to this it's dual channel soldered
Memory8192 MB
, LPDDR4X, dual-channel, no vacant slots, RAM soldered
I'd hedge a bet on probably don't bank on it being upgradable as LPDDR4X
yeah I read a review of this exact model on amazon and they say it's soldered, no spare slot
How does it compare to this Dell computer on ebay for $599.20 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/392979774633?
its 15 so its full sized compared to this 1.2 kg thing and its past gen.
pass on that
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Acer-Swift-3-SF314-42-in-Revie…
otherwise there's not much better at this money
Pros
+ matte IPS display
+ good-looking slim metal case
+ NVMe SSD
+ excellent battery life
+ backlit keyboard
+ remained very quiet
+ remained fairly cool
+ USB 3.2 Gen 2
+ DisplayPort via USB-C
+ USB-C Power Delivery
Cons
- dim display
- low color-space coverage
- no card reader
- RAM soldered onto motherboard (no vacant RAM slots)
I spilt coffee in my laptop, computer guy couldn't fix it or retrieve data so I had a go at taking it apart myself, cleaned all connections with isopropyl alcohol, left to dry and put back together. Works fine now, just lost right click on trackpad. Might be worth a shot if you need to retrieve data from yours. Turned it off straight away after the spill too which might have helped
There’re some tiny star screws on the back of mine that I can’t get off.Was going to take them to a repair shop to let them have a go tomorrow.
Worst case scenario is I’d get a ssd back
Worth it to spend a bit more to get this https://www.amazon.com.au/ASUS-VivoBook-Processor-Fingerprin… ? Better processor, double the storage and free shipping with prime.
These Asus Amazon deals seem to be popular with people here and personally I'd probably go with this but $170 isn't 'a bit' more
Will this be able to run a 4k monitor?
Glad to see this, but Ryzen 3/8GB/256GB seems to be around this price normally?
Was this price in November at Amazon btw
