Anyone else noticed a relatively steep increase in AliExpress products over the past year or so, or is it just me?
Dunno how much is due to COVID, but I don't believe China was impacted particuluarly hard regarding productivity, and the AUD/CNY has been pretty stable, so I dunno where else the increase could be coming from.
I noticed that certain sellers provide their products at a cheaper price at the start, and increase after they get more feedback/customers.
That's why I intentionally don't provide feedback/reviews on the things I've purchased, as some go up in price permanently.
One other factor is that they lost a lot of business last year due to COVID, so a slightly higher price probably can recoup a little from loss.
Did they lose a lot of business? They must be the only online retailer who did over the last 12 months,
They certainly did due to very limited flights to other countries last year

They did quite well.
@ash2000: I wish my salary also increased in a similar way :-(
@ash2000: mind you: AliExpress isn't all of Alibaba profit
there are lots of AE sellers lose money last year due to complains/disputes during covid, some are gone forever (few of my favorite stores :( )
@davidl2: Indeed, 90% of their revenue is generated through domestic sales. Tao Bao probably accounting for the bulk of that .
I can't find any figures for AE alone .
Shipping is one of the big reasons. China Post and others who were notoriously bad have been replaced by Alibaba's own Cainaio. Sellers are typically making it "free" or very cheap, while adding the true cost to the final price of the product.
I've been looking for an electronic case for a kit project lately, and without fail pretty much everything I've seen has the postage more than the actual item. And it doesn't matter how much the item is, the postage is always just more than the cost of the item. You can't tell me it costs them over $100 to send something that only weighs a couple of kilos at most and can be flat packed.
Although maybe it's just because I've not looked for something like that before and it's always been like that, dunno.
Send me a link and let's see if I can find it cheaper.
@Clear: Still figuring out what I need, but as an example, something like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32872667099.html?spm=a2g0o.d…. Although I guess that one is 3.5kg packed.
Yep, the days of super-cheap shipping is over with Aliexpress. I mean it's still cheap by western standards, but consumables that I routinely have bought over the years that were about $10 are now $13 to $14.
Probably less noticeable with more expensive items, but certainly the days of sub aud$1 items (with free shipping) are long gone.
I heard they have to provide tracking now so probably more expensive. Added benefit obviously though.
So almost like saying GST Free… with code?
Hey, a deal is a deal lol.
Nice find bot. Would be handy to use with this Steeldive watch deal.
Hey mate can you recommend and nice quartz movement watches?
Both beautiful :) already own one of the casio marlins.
Thanks heaps!
Escapement Time 40mm. 4 ticks/sec Seiko quartz. Sapphire. ~$105
Very nice… simple and elegant! thanks :)
One of the classy looking watch with reliable quartz I have ever seen. The hour bars on the watch face can be smaller though.
@skillet: pagani design all day
Shipping is woeful. I usually select China Post Registered Airmail or ePacket but never received my order within 5 weeks.
Select AliExpress Shipping. Fully tracked and you get a local Tracking number as soon as AusPost receives shipping info. Also this is not Amazon delivery so don't compare.
Thanks for reminding, I have an order from Amazon that was shipped from China. I ordered it back in March, still not here. Just goes to show any shipping from China can be slow.
You can track your order both in China and when it reaches Australia at Australia Post website if you choose China Registered Airmail or ePacket. The problem is not with tracking, but shipping speed
I've had a quite a few recently in a couple of weeks, some in 4 weeks, some 8 weeks+. Any chinese etailer was like that even pre-covid unless you pay for more expensive shipping, so your complaint is really about the shipping company not aliex. e-packet is usually 3-4 weeks I find. I've made 850 purchases with them, so my experience is based on a decent dataset.
Mine on average about 13 days in transit for Aliexpress.

I've been eyeing one of these lately.
Who can tell me if the gooseneck fine-tuning device is worth $50?

EDIT: I can't afford the 'real one' ?
I want 50 million in 50s,
50 millionin 50s
20 million in 20s,
20 millionin 20s,
and 10 million in 10s
10 million in 10s… you want some 5s with that?
Watched this clip last night!
Thanks just used the $12 off one.
What did you buy?
Bought a redmi 9 for my family lives overseas.
$8 coupon worked for me, thanks OP. Finally bought an nvme enclosure
thanks op, was able to use all the coupons (on separate purchases)
Beware. If you input a code too many times even if you don't purchase anything, it'll lock you out from using that coupon again, giving the error:
This promo code is a limited offer and is no longer available
Smh. I missed out on the US $12 off because of it.
I think it's because the coupon has been used too many times by others.
You need to to be quick for this kind of offers.
I see. Didn't know there was limit.
AETSPM808 promo code is being accepted but when I then click place order: "Oops! The system is busy, please try again later".
Order was accepted after I had removed the code (so the price went back to normal) then entered the code again. May have been coincidence.
Well that's US$100 blown! Time to spend more :)
Gone already, really? I've never had a single Ali coupon work…
Thanks OP, combined with “Spend and Save” $15 off (what ever that is) I got a rg351v for $157 shipped from Australia by the offical store.
No luck redeeming any of these :( Oh well
New promo codes - $10 off $90 - EPNAE516 & BACKITAE516

Wonder if it’s like last time where the codes ended up only working on small group of products.
