"This is a personalised offer that is not transferable and applies only to the cardholder of Everyday Rewards Card number 9344434135305"
LittleMiss, this offer only applies to you and no-one else I believe. I've got a similar email but instead of $35/10c off, mine one is $70/16c off.
I got mine this morning: purchase $55 or more from the fresh meat department to get 14c/litre fuel voucher.
I wonder how they work out whom to send the offer to and what value it is.
Quoting this Crikey report:
The amount of information on the card and how it's used could be a potential privacy problem because all you need now to get the fuel discount is a docket.
There you go. All your Woolies transactions go through this card so they can work out your spending habit. Actually sometimes it is as easy as from your postal address (suburb, house vs. apartment, etc)…
Well the way I look at it is I wouldn't get this offer otherwise. I value my privacy but if they want to evaluate my shopping habits in order to give me targeted promotion/discount then I have no problem with it. Coles has already been doing it for years with their Flybuys card. I got an offer the other day that if I spend $300 in a month I'll get a 40c a litre off petrol discount.
I understand there is always the fear that some dodgy person sitting behind the computer at Woolies will go through your shopping list and find out that you like orange juice but not apple juice but I don't think that will happen. It's a bit like the targeted text ad in gmail. Yes they provide targeted ads but that doesn't mean they go through your email.
If you don't want this potential privacy problem simply don't use the Everyday Rewards card. You can still get petrol voucher on your shopping docket. And pay by cash, so they can't trace the credit card holder's shopping habit.
I say good on Woolies for putting out these offers.
Shop at Aldi, the savings will cover the petrol and more ;)
I don't think you can get "fresh meat" at either Woolies or Aldi :)
LOL :)
Ah well, get the old crappy meat at aldi instead of the old crappy meat at woolies.. cheaper crap meat there ;)
How embarrassing! Obviously I don't find this offer personally useful as I didn't even read through the email properly…but tried to share it anyways…haha myyyy bad.
"Fresh Meat"! not sure which part is fresh?
No shooting the messenger - enjoy the 10c savings!
