Great price. I've been waiting for this type of deal, but now I'm concerned with the HDMI 2.1 VRR issues that Sony hasn't addressed. Yes, I'm hooking up a PS5. Ugh, Missus says I can get an LG OLED….come on prices, drop!

    • +7

It is a great price if you don't care about VRR or hdmi2.1, but I'm also being patient 😊

      • +1

Is the 4k@120hz still compromised too or have they addressed that? Saw a video saying it saying there were still issues after the firmware update.

        • +1

I wouldn't get this for its 4k 120hz, might be a gamble. Minus that it's a very good TV for everything else.

      • It will have 2.1 with firmware update, so I guess you just waiting for VRR.

    • -1

Wow, a neg vote?! Useless comment noted, just like being at home.

    This or Hisense 65Q8?

    • +2

      This imo

    • Was thinking of getting the 65Q8 too but went with the Sony. Glad I did. It's worth it just for Android OS. So fast.

Thought this was the 9500 and almost had a heartattack at how much more I paid for it last night

    • +1

      Same here!

    • Me too, had to double check to make sure it wasn't!

    • how much did you pay? Ive been looking at it but then held off

      • +1

        $2290.75

Just be aware none of the HDMI 2.1 features work correctly with this TV and the firmware is very buggy.
It will hopefully be fixed in a firmware update but i wouldn't count on it. The new version "x9000j" is just around the corner.

To be clear it does not display true 4k @120hz.
There are lots of Audio issues with eARC.
Vrr and allm have yet to be implemented.

Nice picture but do some research if these features matter to you.

    • +5

x9000j also has no VRR ("future firmware update") and the price will probably be $1k more with no major improvements. From some reviews, build quality is somehow worse than x9000h.
It is a 120hz panel TV. It either supports or doesn't, I don't think there's such a thing called "true 4k 120hz". Run UFO refresh rate test, it confirms running at 2160p 120hz. Very few games run 4k @ 120hz. Mostly 1080p @120hz.
PS5 doesn't have VRR anyway. I would assume it probably will update at the same time with the TV.

      • “Future firmware update”

        Buyer beware, I suppose.

When receiving a 120hz 4k signal it's removes some of the information resulting in a blurry image
        Heres a comparison:
        4k 60
        4k 120

So it will accept the signal but won't display it correctly, which is why i chose the words True 4k 120hz.
How much this matters to people is up to them.
IMO the whole point of higher resolution is to make the image sharper.

      • Yes but xbox does…

Or maybe I should just buy a Microsoft TV to use that

  • Okay bit the bullet on this one. Was tossing up between the Hisense Q8 for $1530 but for only $250 more I'm happy getting this. I do have a PS5 so hopefully the VRR and HDMI 2.1 issues get fixed, but not the end of the world if not, still supposed to be a very good TV.

Is there any 65" below $1000 that are either Sony, Samsung or LG? I seem to recall seeing a few deals before but not anymore.

    • I am looking as well for something less than $1000

      • +3

Worth saving up for a decent model, the low end models from the big name brands aren't usually the best options. Even the 8500 series that I have is solid but I've seen family members 9000 and can say it's the way to go.

I couldn't imagine going lower than mine. If I was on a budget and couldn't afford a good Sony TV I'd be going for a middle of the market brand like Hisense. Their $1000-1200 tvs (sale price) will present much better value then Sony ones in the same price point IMO.

Head over to shopback's giftcard portal - have the Swap Celebration (can be used for eBay) cards at 5% CB.
Max $1500 in gift cards can be used per eBay transaction, saves another $75.

I bought 3 x $500 Swap GC, used the promo code and paid the balance - new total $1720.5

    • Nice work! I never think of discounted giftcards.

    • Looks to be 4% now. Obviously still a saving to be had though

      • +1

That got me too, on their main page of the app.Click through though to purchase and in red writing it'll confirm 5% cash back.

    • Are the delivery of these instant?

  • F. just bought this for 2k 3 weeks ago :(

Not bad, got mine for $1945 delivery last year.

If you don’t mind “seconds” :

    65” $1436.40 PLUSFL10

    55” $1148.40

    • +1

      Thanks for this!

    • Hmmm would have been tempting if i'd seen that before purchase. Had been checking but always out of stock. Happy enough to pay the few hundred extra for guaranteed new though, seconds is always a bit of a lottery.
