I have this thing, it's great. I haven't needed to use it yet, however it's saved my mate (75 Series Cruiser) a few times!

    • Same, never used it for my own car, but started a dead Kluger the other day.
Was happy to see it works.

      • Got 1last time and do not regret it. Bought another one to gift friend

  • Better deal for equivalent RooBoost $97.40 @ https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08B4HNV91/. Includes cigarette lighter adapter too!

    • +1

      With a case too!

      • +1

The Gooloo has a case too!

        • It's more of a soft case pouch, where as the Rooboost has a hard case.

          • @cynical17: Looks similar to iAmazing and iClever. May be the same generic product.

    • +6

Thanks. Got one of the Rooboosts
Ps. Bit harsh to neg this deal though as the gooloo is awesome (I've got one, but with the nice hard case) and $98 is a good deal for it

      • @quasi
I have one and it is fantastic. Mine works each time and every time. Plus it was great during an extended power blackout we had as it changed my smartphone plus a few of my neighbours.

So my question is… Why would anyone neg this? It does everything marked on the tin. Who cares if it comes with a soft pouch or a hard case… it makes no difference to the performance…who cares if it doesn't come with a cigar lighter plug… if you need this, then buy one!

This is a good price for a decent product… so idiots if your are reading this, neg me anyway.

    • Comes up as $119.99 for me. How do you get $97.40? Or has the price changed recently?

      • did you use the code?

        • +1

Yup, it says The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

          :(

          • @pogichinoy: Hmm, on the amazon product description, right under the title, there is a little link that says you can get $51 off with their code. If you click on it, it will expand a little bit and will show a button that says REDEEM

            • @pichxlonco: They appear to have removed it for the Rooboost item as it previously had a $30 off voucher but now its back to $149.99

      • @pogichinoy
"Comes up as $119.99 for me. How do you get $97.40? Or has the price changed recently?"

        1. Re-read the o/p
        2. Apply the quoted code OQGN6GHF at the checkout
        3. Price should now read $98.99

Despite other posts here, I just tried it and it worked for me:) (@17:00 hours, AET)

        • Mate, context is the RooBoost which is part of the thread that replies were for.

    • Says $149 when I click on that link

      • You need to enter the code at checkout.

        • Same code?

    • -1

Gooloo is the OzBargain favourite for a good reason. It has much more safety features than RooBoost and other competitors!

      • -2

Incorrect, RooBoost has more safety features

    • That is showing as $149.99 for me. How are you getting $97.40?

    • +1

How are you getting Rooboost for $97.40? It comes up as $149.99 for me

      • It was on flash sale plus had a coupon available, both have expired.

      • also want to get the Rooboost , but cannot get the $97.40 price

    • $97.40 is a good price, but sale has ended, back to $149.99. Boo!

    • That deal is no longer available.

      • It’s still available…

        • Not for under $100.

          • @Trishool: It is for me. Select promotional credit and free delivery

            • @MuddyClear: Are you talking about the Rooboost, not Gooloo? How did you select promotional credit?

              • @edfoo: I’m talking about the Gooloo 2000a. It’s next to the price. Promotional message - promotion credit $51. Click on it to redeem.

                Or manually enter code: OQGN6GHF

                • +1

@MuddyClear: But Trishool was talking about the Rooboost, not the Gooloo.

                  • @edfoo: My bad. I just assumed you were talking about the Gooloo as no one in their right mind would buy the Rooboost when it’s about the same price on sale.

                    • +1

@MuddyClear: I don't own either one but judging from the comments so far, seems more people prefer Rooboost to Gooloo if they are at the same price.

                    • @MuddyClear: Yeah I was talking about the Rooboost deal. I already have a Gooloo, was hoping to try a Rooboost this time so was keen on the earlier deal mentioned with the link provided by @mouth.

  • I have one of these and am yet to use it. I want to buy a cigarette plug adaptor but am unsure which type as there are 2 sockets that may be used.
Can any one advise which plug is used and there for which adaptor I need.

Will these a units with a plug adaptor sustain ie a 12 volt air compressor and for how long?

Are there ever any deals on these plug adaptors?

  • This saved me twice. Highly recommended

Bought this when it was $110. Very helpful when someone needs a jump and you can't access their engine bay due to space constraints.

  • Not sure what I did wrong (or whether it's just my car/battery being too old, but I was disappointed it couldn't get my car to start. It drained the Gooloo with each attempt turn of the ignition, but it never got the car to start. Recharged the gooloo and tried again but never worked. Maybe my battery was too flat to be resuscitated? I had to fully charge the car battery using trickle charger for 1-2 days to start car the up. Good thing it was during lockdown period and the car was in the garage. Hopefully it will work properly for me during another battery emergency.

    • +1

If you had to charge your battery for 1 2 days with charger, that means it was way too flat for the jump starter. I used mine many times on various cars. If you forgot your headlights or radio etc. and flatten the battery, 90% fires up on the time. Good product

    • +2

Did you use the boost function? If your battery is really flat then you need to hit the boost function on the Gooloo and then wait about 30 seconds before trying to start engine.

      • @donkcat "Did you use the boost function? If your battery is really flat then you need to hit the boost function on the Gooloo and then wait about 30 seconds before trying to start engine."

This is correct. I had this issue the first time I used it as the print of the 'friendly user manual' was too tiny for me to see and I missed this point very easily. I think GooLoo needs to make this point very clear. Perhaps with a label on the device itself.

Also, I have successfuly jump started a completely flat battery with my GooLoo.

    • +1

There's a boost function where once activated, and you start the car, it will give an even bigger boost of power.

    • +3

These jump starters help with flat batteries which still have 10-11 V, but drop to super low voltage (4-6 V) when the engine is cranked. If the battery is already at 6-8V without even starting, then you need to charge the battery for a long time to bring it back up. In addition, when this happens to the car battery, the life is permanently reduced with each occurrence.

It also depends on the car. My car is much older from 2004, and I actually was able to drive it even with a totally dead battery. Of course, the alternator overheated every 300 meters of driving and it would cut out. But I could restart it each time using the battery jump starter after the alternator cooled down.

  • If you need slightly less capacity (1500A), there's a different model on sale for $89 after the $40 credit which does include the 12v DC car adapter in the package (https://www.amazon.com.au/GOOLOO-SuperSafe-Starter-Portable-…). What you miss is the wall charger and a bit extra capacity, but I expect I'll use the 12v DC car adapter more than I will the actual jump-starting.

Side note - I read a long time ago that you aren't really "jumping" the car battery, and that it's best to leave everything connected for a few minutes to actually charge the recipient battery. I've jumped a few cars this way and never had an issue from old lead acid style portable packs.

The pros of getting the 2000a unit are:

      1) you just need to charge it every 4 months instead of the recommended 3 months for 1500a.

      2) has more power so it’s better to use for tire inflating and other peripherals like charging iPads/phones

** just use cigarette-USB adapter to charge in car. Most people will have one of these. But it’s easier to set a reminder on your phone to charge it via wall charger.

      • Good points! I'm still happy with the 1500 but power per dollar the 2000 is a better buy.

  • @BongoOB

Good points. I am amazed how long these units hold their charge.
