    Awesome find mate !

  • +12

Who would've thought we'd see the day with an i3 with hyperthreading. Great find OP.

    • +13

And we've got AMD to thank for that!

    • +5

i3 processors had hyperthreading up until 7th or 8th gen? Only a few microarchitectures didn't have it.

i5 CPUs were the ones that traditionally didn't have hyperthreading.

      • +11

i3 cpus have had HT for ages… problem is they were dual core cpus.

4 core with HT is a new 10th gen thing.

You will also need a gpu but I would match it to an older gpu rather than a new gtx750 or whatever nonsense is out at the low end

  • I wish they had this yesterday… already brought the upgrade I wanted for plex htpc.

    • +14

      Where did you bring it?

what you guys think about this, if i want to make one ???????

      • Dude, I don't think we can see your cart

        • Give him a break. He is new to the internet.

    • Though the i3-10105F deal is super cheap, it doesn’t have integrated graphics (unless you specifically want a dedicated graphics card for transcoding)? I’m running an i3-10100 as my Plex server, using the iGPU for hardware transcoding and it’s perfect for my needs (and 4K content should never be transcoded anyway)

      • Agree with this. Tug should read this and feel better about their purchase

  • +2

Might want to add you need a discrete gpu if your building a pc

    • +1

Memory and Case as well lol

      • +2

That should be relatively easier compared though

        • Where is youR building?

      • Electricity supply too, and an electric light is not necessary but could come in handy, and is better than a kerosene lantern

      • Plus power cable 😁

  • This is a pretty good deal. 4 cores is probably not ideal heading into the future but 8 threads with hyperthreading helps I guess..

    • +1

6 cores will become essential about 3 gens after we all worried it would. Just like 4 cores did.

  • Are any of the other deals on this page good? Trying to help a mate with a PC build but am unfamiliar with the Intel side of things.

    • I'd usually recommend at least i5, but been out of the game for too long 😂

  • +3

I just find it funny how the 7700K was marketed to be for extreme gaming.

    • +8

Thanks to AMD intel stopped ripping us off.

      • +4

        Lisa Su saved us all.

  • worth the upgrade coming from an i5-3470?

    • +3

      Absolutely

    • +1

Blows it out of the water….

  • Wow very good value for a budget build… Great find

  • +1

But what cheap gpu to pair this with to play games?

    • +1

What is considered as cheap, best value would be 6700xt but I don't think you would call it cheap

      • +1

        That’s so expensive

        • Everything is price based on how well it mine ethereum rn, so even GPUs that used to worth $200-300 are now $600

6700xt is very good for gaming relative to its mining performance and thus best value

    • +3

      That's the hard part.

I think we're actually starting to see good discounts on all CPUs and mobos because with the GPU shortage, people can't build a whole new PC anymore, so stock of other components isn't moving enough.

  • +3

This is so tempting… If I buy a new motherboard, I'm gonna need new RAM tho UGHHH

    • +1

I'm thinking of an upgrade too but dunno if I should wait for DDR5

      • +6

If you're thinking about buying at this price point, you won't be buying ddr5

        • +2

Maybe if I wait 8 years haha

          • @frankfurts: Lmaooo, my 2500K will last another 8 years :)

Got it overclocked so high rn, task manager is reporting 7.11GHz

^^ This is FULLY stable btw, I've hit 8.01GHz in the past (According to task manager tho)

            • @Zackeroo: Dafuq are you doing. I'm on 4.1k ghz with my 2600k

              • @Bunnyburger: Hahaha all I'm doing is just having perfect air ventilation, and some really powerful fans. Max temps ~77 degrees @ 5GHz

On a different note, I wonder who downvoted you lol. You quite clearly didn't offend anyone…

            • @Zackeroo: I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure that 2500k can't overclock that high. I think there must be something reporting incorrectly. What does CPU-Z say?

              • @KLF23: That's exactly what I was trying to say, I don't believe it myself. Task manager seems to be a bit off lol.

CPU-Z says 5GHz, which is much more accurate. Idk what Task Manager is on, but I know for a fact I set my OC to be 5GHz tho

^^ And before anyone asks, yes it's stable :)

Voltage is on 1.51V - But you gotta understand that it's not all about the voltage when overclocking

And to whoever does voted my last comment, I kinda get that lol. It seems unbelievable, but if even one person asks for screenshots, I'll send a screenshot of task manager for ya

            • @Zackeroo: Oooops I added a K. How did you get clocks like that? I have an AIO cooler

              • @Bunnyburger:

                I have an AIO cooler

Lol, I'm running on air cooling HAHAHA

I guess my full tower case with 2 massive fans, 3 medium sized and a full fan block on the CPU is doing its job :)

            • @Zackeroo: What kinda voltage you on out of curiosity?

              • @Nomad2233: I just answered @KLF23

I'm at 1.51V (I think) - But yea you gotta understand that it's not all about the voltage control, there are other factors which affect it

      • +2

If you're an enthusiast or have plenty of coin, perhaps.

But for the everyman, put your hard earned into proven middle tier.

It's the best compromise between outdated and overpriced.

        • +1

That's so true, the thing is… I think I can live with my current CPU + MOBO. My 2500K is tuned to perfection atm, and I'm hitting ~ 3600 on Geekbench Multicore which isn't too far off the ~4000 which this i3 gets.

          I think I'll wait…

  • Great bargain!

Unless time had changed the quality of cheaper psu, I think you get better value from a good quality psu.

My experience, and many others' experiences say poor quality psu may deteriorate faster and may damage your beloved bits.

  • Can be a cheap/good 4 GPU mining rig, add a used 4gb ddr4 and 120g ssd for $30-$40

pair with 4*3070 for $4000, not bad at all

    • -1

Where you finding $1k 3070s? I’ll take all of them plz.

      • +2

PLE EVGA, preorder, queue is not that long

        • Doesn't PLE have a 1 RTX 30xx card per household limit?

    • With only 1 PCIe x16 slot?

      • +1

there is a thing call pcie riser and M.2 to pcie riser

  • Any idea if this CPU comes with the CPU Cooler/fan or its just the chip?

    • +1

Pretty sure it comes. Only K series does not come with it.

  • Is the non F variant of this cpu available? I need Intel Quick Sync for Blue iris.

  • What is the right GPU to match this CPU?

  • Thanks for posting OP
For gaming alone what would this compare to from AMD, 1600, 2600 or 3600? I know it has fewer cores but for just 1080p gaming performance, does anyone know? I don't know much about Intel CPUs.

    • +1

      3600

    • +1

I believe this i3 is comparable to the 3300X

    • Thanks guys, wow that's pretty impressive! Glad I got in before they sold out =)

      • Available again

  • +2

Motherboard showing as out of stock, I take it that mean deal has expired?

    • +1

      back in stock FYI

  • Deal is back! Thanks for who message me!

  • The Intel motherboards are overpriced $100+ whereas a good B450 is $70. Intel still using 12nm process, AMD is 8nm. A B450 and a 3300X would be better.

    • Thank you. I was trying my hardest to resist purchasing and you've given me good reason to now.

      • He gave a bad reason to give up lol

        • I just needed A reason to squeeze some more life out my 2500k :)

But in any case, based on 5 minutes of googling, what ComfortablyNumb said regarding the 3300x benching considerably worse is not correct, it's not even slightly worse, but in fact slightly better (perhaps with the exception of gaming, maybe). Please correct me if I am wrong.

          • @pyr0maniac: Better or worse, this combo is the best bang for your budget. If want to pay for a 3300x + mobo you almost paying the same price of 10400f + mobo (299 currently at same store). 3300x is always the worse price/performance.

            • +1

@Dienk: Yep no arguments here, definitely the best bang for buck, at this point in time anyway. I'm just trying to talk myself out of it lol.

    • +1

A 3300x is $199 by itself and benches considerably worse than a 10105f.

  • +1

    Thanks! Bought.

Needing some RAM, I can get a 3000Mhz kit for a dollar cheaper than a 2666Mhz kit, would they both be a matter of just dropping them in and selecting XMP to get the best performance (without tinkering)?
Or should I stick with the 2666Mhz kit for combability ease?

    Cheers

    • +1

      No problem get a 3000mhz.

    • This combo will be limited to running at 2666mhz anyway.

  • I was just thinking I could upgrade from 6700k and Asus Hero Alpha z170 make a few hundred dollars.
    Intel have fixed there pricing!
