  • Got one, thanks zeroxp

Loads of negative reviews on Amazon AU.

    • Yikes lots of reviews saying it doesn't work with Google products and that it broke on first use…

Got one last time, its about 50/50 if it will actually work - no where near apple touch id in functionality
and had to find specific drivers of some website for it to actually work in the latest version of win 10

Same, had to find random driver for a Lenovo laptop, then it only successful scan my print maybe 50% of the time. My Dell XPS gets it 99% of the time, and my pixel phone about 95% of the time. Would have sent it back if I got round to using it during the return period.

  • Works well for me. Have it plugged into my monitor for easy access.

i bought the 5 pack deal but only received one…

Amazon was pretty good, they refunded me the whole thing and let me keep the one.

Any idea if this can work with Bitwarden / WindowsHello?

  • +3

I'm still using the cheap $10 one that I bought from AliExpress 3+ years ago. Even wrote a tutorial on how to get it work with Windows Hello and password managers like Lastpass and Bitwarden

Unfortunately whoever made the model that I'm using has either gone out of business or has started to make more expensive versions of it.

  • Lol I paid $41.07 about 3 days ago for this exact product. It arrived yesterday.

ask for price difference refund… amazon is pretty good.

I bought backpack and the price dropped around $7. They ended up giving me a $10 amazon credit when all i wanted is just the $7.

      • $10 Amazon credit vs $7 going back to your credit card.

        $3 extra
        - for "forcing" :) you to make another purchase on Amazon
        - making you to to feel good and to tell nice things about Amazon

I believe they know what they are doing. :)

        • i believe so as well.. they are trying hard to win customers and once they are dominant you will see these policies go bye bye…

I bought a ryzen 5 5600x cpu worth $430 which was late and they immediately refunded me my money on thursday last week and told me it was most likely "lost". It just turned up today and i can keep it lmao…

      • They refused. Said I would have to return and repurchase. Considering I'm already using it and it's now sold out, this isn't an option.

"I've reviewed your email and see that you're writing to us with reference to the price of an item Order ID: xxxxxxxx 'KENSINGTON(R) 67977 VERIMARK Fingerprint AUTHENTICATION, USB DONGLE '.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard.

We consistently offer competitive prices on everything we carry; however, the prices on our website are subject to change.

While the Amazon.com.au website has accurate pricing information, we do not have the option to refund the difference I'm sorry.

When you're seeing a price drop it means that a new batch of stock has arrived from the manufacturer and the cost of getting that batch in our fulfillment center is little less.

Similarly if there is a price increase, then the new stock cost of arrangement is higher than before and price matching them will be a direct loss to the company.

You may return us the product for full refund and then purchase the product with low cost.

I hope you understand our situation and limitation."

        • Lol… that was pretty much word by word what they told me in the chat but the last few lines were offering me a $10 amazon credit instead. Maybe i had a guy who just got laid the night before.

  • It may just me being paranoid but I'm always concerned there's some backdoor process running that uploads all these fingerprints to a database somewhere, and someone nefarious will be mining that data. I see my biometrics as the last bastion of privacy I have left, so I'm reluctant to share. Anyway, just my 2¢ worth…

    • They also upload your DNA to the database as well.

      • Hmmm…I was afraid of that. me reaches for tinfoil hat…

I always use gloves when browsing Internet.
Internet is full of… things these days.

I just bought one a couple of days ago. Windows would not automatically install the drivers for me though. The drivers on the kensington website also don't work. I had to completely uninstall all drivers from the device manager and then follow this guide:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10…

    • Did the same.
More annoying that the scan success rate is so bad.

  • Same problem as everyone else. Website drivers don't work, doesn't work with online providers.

Works fine for Windows Hello and Bitwarden so I'm happy with that.

Quite honestly, I'm not really sure how they can sell this thing as it doesn't provide half the functionality it claims to have.
