Doubled Referral ($10) on Spaceship Voyager ($5 Minimum Investment within 14 Days of Sign up Required) @ Spaceship

1470

Spaceship has doubled referral starting today!

Note that referral codes need to be added to your account after you sign up (within 14 days of sign up). Use the referral randomiser to get a code. You must invest a minimum of $5 to receive the $10 referral.

Guys, before you add your referral code in the system please make sure to have invested at least $5. There’re comments from people in previous deals saying they didn’t receive the referral credit because the referrer didn’t meet the eligibility criteria. Be considerate and don’t ruin it for others.

No fees on the first $5,000 invested, and 0.1% on balances above $5,000. I'd recommend the universe portfolio, see historical returns (newwwie.net).

Past performance is not indicative of future performance.

Performance: -$2.34 from the Feb referral bonus,

but I did get $20 from referrals and only put in $5 so..

    • +27

Tech stocks got hammered - whole market was down. Idea of the app is to encourage long-term investing.

      • +2

According to Lateline, the ASX is up 59% since dooms day late Feb 2020.

        Strange world we live in….

    • +3

My spaceship portfolio is up 60%

Admittedly I deposited near the bottom of the covid crash.

    • +1

I am -$1.37 with $1700 in it now. First deposit of was Jan 1 then $50 weekly with some other deposits in there too. I'm in Spaceship Earth. It got hit hard over the past couple of months and I think I was down over $100 at one point.

      • Yep at one point, it was lower than the starting price in Nov 20.

So far Earth has recovered a bit better than Universe. Hopefully the recovery continues.

    • same lol

  • +6

the whole covid thing got the tech stocks skyrocketed in 2020, I don't think we will get the same return with the universal portfolio anymore since covid has somewhat eased up.
Based on the graph, in 2018 and 2019 both Index(Origin) and Universal have very similar performance

    • -2

      This.

      • looks like OP removed the graph link

    • -7

Buy now and wait for the next covid. Covid 21 or 22 is out there as long as there are some crazy rich people willing to eat bats and exotic wildlife

    • Not necessarily. I've been averaging in since May 2018 and my universe portfolio is still up 70%.

  • No fees on the first $5,000 invested, and 0.1% on balances above $5,000

How often are the fees charged? Or are the fees only charged when funds are deposited?

    • Would like to know as well

    • It's calculated daily. e.g. $10,000 invested means (10,000-5,000 threshold)*0.1%/365=1.4 cent fee per day for a $10k balance.

      Source

      • Found some more info

You’ll pay management fees of 0.10% per year of your balance, but only on your balance above $5,000.
You won’t pay any other fees, including withdrawal fees. And there are no other charges paid by the Fund, such as transaction and operational costs. Costs charged by others, such as audit, banking, brokerage and market data, are paid by us.

    • You don't pay any fees separately. It all comes out of the funds performance effectively.

  • There are some questions about Spaceship's transparency, and there's a clause about it's discretion to withhold dividends or something…to do with they owning the shares, rather than the user?

    • +4

it's not CHESS sponsored holding - it's a unitary trust managed investment scheme.

When you sign up you agree to T&C's that say that the management of the scheme may choose not to pay a cash distribution for that year. The "cash" balance received from dividends in the fund would be reflected in the unit price of a unit in the investment scheme as that cash from dividends would be earning interest in a bank account.

      • This ☝️☝️
I don’t invest with them because of that.
Good for a dabble but stay away if you’re thinking anything serious.

  • +2

Why do referral links expire every few weeks on OZB for Spaceship? I've had the same referral code for months, yet it expires here every few weeks?

    • +3

So op can repost the deal ;-)

      • Ive re added mine lol

    • The codes change every time Spaceship changes their referral offer.

    • +6

You would be crazy to put all your money into crypto however. Ever heard of a diversified portfolio?

      • +2

Does having 260 crypto wallets count?

        • If your holding or staking crypto, probably yes

      • Well i can say that my crypto portfolio has outperformed most of my friends 5 year super performance in 2 months and thats only investing my tax return, havent even touched my savings .

Ive got a SMSF so next step is to invest 25% of it in crypto.

If you do your research before investing in a coin or token, you could potentially easily double or triple your money in a month.

Blockchain technology is the future, and is already being used in cashback programs (StormX), telecommunicatios (DENT), healthcare, used by B&J and myyapp for their promotions etc

You would be crazy to think that crypto will die off, it will just keep growing . People usually just think bitcoin when your say the word crypto, but its much bigger than that.

        • Blockchain is the future. So many shills and shit coins out there though, but I'm trying to stick to crypto that has real world use.

With the pathetic interest being offered by banks, why not stake some crypto and reap the rewards.

The learning curve is very steep, but I'm enjoying the ride.

          • @ilikeit: Rule is do your research and invest in projects that have potential and the ones yiu believe in

Read the whitepapers and roadmaps, research the founders and board of directors if any, find out the backers and investors of the projects etc

Also if your holding, remember that some can be staked for rewards or you can do locked staking on binance and earn high interest over 30, 60 or 90 days - i staked BIFI for 30% APY (bought it when it droped to $1500)

            • +1

@easternculture: Doing all these things already, except staking (been looking into it for ADA and VET).

      • But my ASX stocks are performing so bad haha

I made more money in cryptocurrency currently. Thinking about switching to day trading crypto and quit full-time job

        • Im actually thinking the same.

25k capital with crypto day trading , you would be looking at 1k return per day. I love the volatility of crypto which makes it more profitable than stock and currency trading

As long as you dont get too consumed in it (which i initially did) and forget about the more important things in your life like family and freinds

          • @easternculture: Yeah it's easy to make money with crypto atm, but surely this rate of growth will not sustain for long?
Research used to be rather easy but now it's full of shill posts on shitcoins. Sorting through that crap takes 3 times longer than it did a few months ago.

            • @tikei:

but surely this rate of growth will not sustain for long?

My predictions is block chain technology will continue to grow. Many foreign governments are already using blockchain tech (research Fantom blockchain), event ticketing is using blockchain tech (research Chilliz) and Reserve is being used as a currency in Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina.

You would be silly to think that crypto is just a phase …

    • He is right. It is a boom time for Crypto. ADA, BNB, PNT, CHZ.

      Binance is your friend.

Made more money in 2 months than 10 years on the ASX.

      • Dont forget MDX , up from 0.12 to nearly 0.18 in 2 days.
Dont quote me , but this may be the next bnb. Already have 2k invested in it

  • +2

I bought in to this about a month ago - down about 10% at the moment, hopefully they will go up again. In for the long haul

  • +4

When I bought it instantly tanked lol. Knew it would happen and am still willing to hold for at least a few years.

    • Think about why referral credit is increasing all of a sudden…..

      • They are worried about too many money outflows. So they are trying to counter the flow by giving away money to entice new customers. Just like my financial institution, their biggest risk is ‘bank runs’.

  • Just signed up and tried to deposit $10, went through like 6 times as pending apparently. still nothing..

    • +1

Wait a couple business days for them to process and buy you the units. Only then you will get the $10 bonus. Share markets are closed, they can’t buy you units…

      • But no way to cancel the pending 10 or so now payments? I understood the locking down part but I assumed they would take it in escrow or alike.

        • First thing Tuesday morning, contact the support, they may still be able to manually cancel these.

  • +1

Agreed long term is best however go in it with eyes wide open.

Some facts. After 2000 dot com, Nasdaq index took 14 years to return to its all time highs. Whereas S&P500 index took 6 years. ASX since all time high in 2007 has only just returned to all time high. Japan Nikkei hasn’t returned to its all time high yet in 1989.

Make sure you don’t need the money any time soon so you aren’t forced to crystallise your losses and be sure to diversify to non-correlated areas.

    • This is why investing periodically and continuously is important.

Also something to note is the above recover periods do not take into account dividends. For example S&P 500 took 5.5 years to recover from the dot com crash and the ASX recovered from the GFC in 4 years and 8 months.

  • Has anyone tried the Earth portfolio? There's no stats available yet because it's new.

    • Yes I did.

It got to around 15% from Nov to Feb 21 before the dip.

Now around 5% up from Nov (ie around 10% down since ATH in Feb).

Recovery wise, it’s recovered better than Universe in the last month.

      • Thanks for that. I might check it out a bit more.

  • How do I switch portfolios? I'm currently on universe and want to change to Earth.

    • You can't switch. You can open another one using a different email address.

  • +1

I've opened an account and deposited $5, so I would appreciate it if 'Christopher' could also complete the deposit on his end so we both get the referral bonus.

    • +2

yeah this is pretty frustrating. 'Ben' if you're reading this please do the same!

      • +1

.. Emily.. yeah.. you too please.. sigh, cost me $50 too, cause I accidentally didnt think the investments we're getting processed when depositing. (see above)

EDIT: I'd gladly consider this a sacrifice for people that did this being banned from referral linking..

    • Elliot - I'm waiting for you to deposit $5. Not sure why people do that.

    • Hi "Damiaan", hoping you'll see this and met the criteria.

  • +2

    Milorad, deposit $5 please!

  • Tom, please deposit $5. I would really like to get the $10 for signing up.

  • For long term users, what's their 'tax statements' like? Are they organised easily for tax accountants purposes?

    • No different to any other managed fund. The usual fields are all indicated: 13U,13C,13Q,20E,20M,20O

      Could easily do it yourself

      • Thanks. But it would be a PIA having to work out CGT on your regular weekly contributions from 5+ years ago

        • Tax statements are mostly for the distributions paid.

They don't detail your cost bases.
