$93 delivered late April from Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000557577340.html

OP is faster delivery and better warranty so not going to downvote but it's not an irresistible bargain.

Would this be faster than a Samsung T5 or T7? It seems a bit steep for just an empty case.

T5 is SATA so "slow" compared to these.
      T7 is NVMe with 10Gbit (~1GB/sec) USB3 connection.
      This is NVMe with a 40Gbit (~4GB/sec) TB3 connection.

This should be faster in benchmarks than the T7 but in real world should be indistinguishable.

  • I have a Wavlink NVMe enclosure, they work well. Not sure about this one though (mine was very much on the budget end)
