Well, you tell motorola its their last chance to sell it for 249 before they all go to landfill.

    • +3

Let me know when you find an equivalent tab for $249

    • +1

I agree, good price compared to other retailers, just don't think your Guna get any buyers from OZbargain! Drop price to $299 delivered and you may get to sell ur stock!

      • +1

Agreed, we all have deep pockets, short arms & bloody long memories! :p

  • Serious sub $300 should be the normal price for this soon to be out dated tablet, who will be crazy enough to pay over $600+ for it? For that price I might as well get a iPad which I know will hold its resell value better

  • +1

come on rep. you can do better than this. $400 is now normal price in AU. Almost the same price at Voda store and eBay

  • +3

Yeah, I'm sure the price will skyrocket once the next generation of Android tablets hit the streets.

  • -7

Yeah this is old technology. Would not buy for $250 even.

    • +3

Your loss, excellent tablet. Good luck getting comparable tab for $250 champ.

      • -2

I don't WANT a comparable table - The New 1080p Transformer Prime is what I want.

Pfft, excellent tablet; it's as laggy as a 2.5yr old HTC midrange smartphone.

  • ANyway, it's old technology, price seems to be the cheapest right now. I think until now $398 was the best price for this tablet.

  • I'll wait for next gen tablet.

    • so why the positive vote??

      • +3

because it's still a pretty good price right now. even though it's an old tech tablet.

  • +1

Some pretty harsh criticisms here. A Xoom deal that was posted just a week ago for a higher price got 59+ votes
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60983

Looks like a good price for an excellent tablet to me. ICS coming soon for this model as well.

    • When new model release. I think price will drop for this model. Same goes to iPad. That's when I'll buy it.

    • +1

But a week ago CES was a week away. We now have two 1080p tablets on their way.

      • Completely agree - I have been hawking various tech sites (engadget) and the slew of nextgen tablets are amazing.

Better to put this $389 towards much better tablets (and with the number of tablets being released from different and competing manufacturers, I wouldn't be surprised if $389 covered the majority of the cost).

    • Agree. Its still the best price up to this point in time.

      • +4

no. the best price came from the same retailer. was $369

        http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60366

They should do better than $395 delivered

        • Oh yes, forgot about that.
Unless they do it cheaper than that. Not gonna buy this one.

        • How did I know someone was going to prove me wrong 2 mins after I post something. I rephrase "at this point in time"….. Oh actually, I'll just concede. $369 is better than $389.

        • +1

Don't forget the 2% credit card surcharge (unless you use bank transfer) + 5% shipping insurance (optional, but better have it unless you don't care that the tab may be damaged or lost during delivery. Or if you live in Perth, you can pick up the stock).

So total will add up to be $400+

        • That was Facebook exclusive and was leaked onto here. There was much fewer units available then, and was sold out before stocks arrived.

        • +1

Be that as it may, you could still do better than the facebook price.

        • +3

@netplus "fewer units" was $369 and now you stocked more than "fewer" units so your price should be below $369 for this deal, because you buy more from supplier means you got cheaper. It's general trading business.

I think it's the insinuation that they will not be this cheap again that irks some people. Sure, the price is good but the prices of tablets for this generation are only going to decline as time goes by. To say they won't be this cheap again or cheaper is disingenuous I think.

    • Totally agree.
….. and to say that "and will revert back to $649+"…. Tell him he's dreamin….

      • We will no longer be stocking these after this discounted shipment. We would not dream of trying to sell them at the $600+ mark. We are just told that there will be no more discounted units left.

        • In that case just say that you will have the last batch here. No point intimidating users with $600 BS… Their prices are only gonna go down in the coming future. I don't think even the Xoom 2 would be priced at $600+.

        • agree with wildstone. In few months, new tablet prices will be around $250 - $500 with better specs.

  • Definitely not the "last chance". CES is still exhibiting at Las Vegas http://www.cesweb.org/ with new gadgets coming out soon

Based on this website prices will be down.

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/247794/what_ces_2012_is_about…

    expect to pay $250 ish

"Asus tablet that comes equipped with a Tegra 3 chip and is set to sell for $250."

Not sure about details of the tablet.

    • +2

$250 in US probably quite a more more in AUS I reckon

      • Precisely. Should add a mark-up of at least 15%.

        • +2

          Try 50%

      • -1

Yeah because no-one imports with our high Aussie dollar, do they?

  • Are there any good bargains on non-3G version?

    • Not from us - sorry. I have heard of non 3g models going for $299-$399 prior to Christmas.

    • +4

I bought the Motorola Xoom WiFi prior to Xmas for $289, and it is NOT a piece of junk!

I personally think it is better than the Samsung Tab 10.1… it has an external SD card slot, and a HDMI output port.

I have been using it everyday since and cannot fault it in any way.

Plus it is being updated to Android ICS in a few weeks.

      • +2

You got the retra one I presume.

Nice work that was a great deal just like the Good Guys clearance of the Acers.

This deal is currently the best available.

If there is better hopefully they will link it so we can all enjoy.

Otherwise until my time machine is repaired this deal is very appealing.

    • +3

If you're going to call it a 'piece of junk' the least you could do is get the name right. The tablet does everything a tablet can be expected to do just fine, therefore it is hardly junk.

    • +1

Don't think you know what you are talking about. What made you think GT 10.1 is better than Xoom? Samsung came in the market late does not mean it is better. Good luck in getting a 3G Samsung GT10.1 or Asus Transformer at sub $400.

I bought a brand new Medion Lifetab yesterday for $300. It has exactly the same specs as the Motorola Xoom tablet.

    http://aldi.medion.com/lifetab/au/?refPage=aldi

  • Thanks for the post.
Can someone please tell me about the applications on this tablet? Has Android been given more apps and interesting games that can keep me occupied? OR is this another dead end?

    Thanks.

  • +1

Scrimshaw… Motorola Xoom and Medion Lifetab both weigh exactly 730 grams. Here are the specs:

    Android™ 3.2
32 GB internal memory (can be expanded with a microSD memory card)
    NVIDIA® Tegra™ 2 dual-core processor
    NVIDIA® GeForce® graphics
    Quad-band 3G module (HSDPA/HSUPA) and GPS
Integrated wireless LAN IEEE 802.11 n-standard technology
Li-polymer battery – lasts up to 8 hours
    25.4 cm/10" multitouch display
Numerous connection options: Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB, microSD/microSDHC, audio out, multifunctional connector, SIM card slot

As you can see, both tablets are identical. I bought the Medion Lifetab from my friend who works at Aldi. He has sold about 20 tablets so far and they come with a 2 year warranty. RRP is $499 but I bought it for $300. The Medion Lifetab also comes with a few extras that the Motorola Xoom doesn't have such as:

    Leather carry case
    microUSB cable
    AKG earphones
    HDMI adapter cable
    Cleaning cloth

    • Is $300 the 'staff' price?

    • +1

You absolutely have no idea the build quality of Motorola. I have to protest strongly when you say IDENTICAL.

      • +1

I've owned the Iconia A501 and the Xoom and the iPad (original).

The Xoom has fantastic build quality. Granted it's not as sexy or slim as the iPad 2, but it doesn't creak in the hand (Iconia). It feels solid. The back is metal and the screen looks good.

Prices on these should drop further once the Xoom 2 is out.

While this may be Netplus' last batch of discounted Xooms, let's not forget that there are other stockist out there. :-)

        • -1

Having it made of metal doesn't really do a tablet much justice as tablets are designed to be held for long periods of time. It makes the tablet heavy, un-ergonomic and can strain your hand. Every time I hold a Xoom for more then 2 minutes I feel like throwing it down cause it's that heavy.

  • LOL @ People buying electronics from Aldi. I love that they always go to a Harvey Norman/JB/DSE store when they have problems with it because Aldi staff don't know a thing.

    • +1

Aldi staff may know nothing but their no questions asked refund policy is great. Try doing something similar at HN etc.

      • Agreed. Even JB Hifi would only offer me a gift card and not my money back.

  • Oh temptation.

  • PS:

    From an earlier link:
    https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c

    ICS!

We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR™ by Motorola, Motorola RAZR™, Motorola XOOM™ and DROID BIONIC™ by Motorola to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices.

  • even if motorola weren't releasing ICS for it, the devs at xda-developers would have. :)

i cant give this a positive due to it being a higher price than netplus' previous offer, but the xoom is the best first-gen tablet ive used. recommended.

    • +3

      you gave this a positive….
