Always worry getting Chinese tablets, spec looks wonderful but the things they don't mention usually bad…. For example, short battery life, overheating, touch not accurate, speakers, wifi connection strength, lagging, etc

I had a Teclast X89. Battery failed after 2 years of light use and unit wouldn't even turn on when connected to power. These cheap tablets look good on paper, though personally I wouldn't be tempted again.

  • And I heard we really need helio p60 as minimum for a Chinese tablet.

  • Android 8, is that the norm for these cheap Chinese tablets?

when they are 2+ year old models with a 5+ year old cpu a 3-4 year old OS isn't the big issue

      • Just saw that there's LineageOS support. Is it still a good value for money tablet considering the age?

the custom one which may or may not work depending on hardware version, is difficult to install (on xda comments) and has not been updated for nearly 12 months, I'm not super keen to give it a shot.

This is just an older model. If you look at newer releases (like the Alldocube iPlay series) they all come with Android 10.

When it comes to buying budget tablets, it's important to check out YouTube reviews and understand the actual quality of the unit beyond spec sheets.

I’ve got a telecast mounted to my fridge it’s been on 24/7 for 2+ years now seems to be going strong. Use it for home automation

One of the best cheap Chinese tablets I’ve bought. I’m a iPad user for main tablet stuff though.

Performance is great, build quality was surprisingly good.

Often the battery will be fried from this and I need to remove it and Hotwire it (they never work with
Just a usb and no battery) but no signs yet - Xiaomi phone i have for same setup went through 3 batteries

    • I'm actually gonna use it for home assistant too. Any guides on how you hotwired it?

        Yeh so I winged it.

You need to cut up the battery, basically remove the controller from the cells, figure out the voltage of the cells and get a cheap 12v to 3-5v. Adapter off AliExpress use a multimeter to adjust to the correct voltage and just connect a 240v to 12v adapter with a solid amperage I did a 2a one just to be safe.

Took a few attempts to get it but I figured it out.

trust me, save up another $50 and grab a samsung or lenovo tablet on sale.

these chinese tablets are laggy as all hell despite whatever benchmarks they claim. I have another Teclast tablet with this exact same Helios SoC, can't even stand using it.

    • Just got mine. It's not super smooth but It's fine for browsing and YouTube, it actually plays 4k smoothly via Kodi and Plex.
