  • What's the saving?

    • Hi,

Our standard price on this is $299, it is a $100 saving.

      • If stocks do last, how long will this special be available timewise?

        • The promo has 7 days remaining or while stocks last.

  • Laptop is very much entry level, but decent bang for buck.

The discount appears from stripping it down first, then making the money back with the add ons.
For anyone looking for this laptop with an Windows OS, I highly recommend you speak to Jack from LBO… Slightly higher spec'ed and comes out a bit cheaper too!
    http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/479-horize-w246-noteb…

    • But if you want any OS other than Vista (including Win7), the Horize deal works out cheaper, even after adding 2GB RAM for $29 to match the hardware specs.

  • the cpu is pretty weak - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+C-30

will this machine be capable of word processing and surfing for a student?

also how will this perform as a HTPC? any HDMI/VGA?

    • I/O Ports:
      3x USB 2.0
      1x VGA
      1x HDMI Output
      1x Headphone
      1x Microphone
      1x RJ-45 LAN

      9 in 1 Card Reader

The processor is pretty basic, but it is easily able to handle word processing, some basic gaming, DVD and even runs Bluray. Yes we have tested it on HDMI out to our 1080p TV and it works quite well as a HTPC.

      • What speed does the network port run at?

        • 10/100

Alright entry lvl specs, but cpu is a let down as its much slower than Intel Atom N450 which is already slow as it is. I guess you cant go wrong at this price though.

  • good price but this is NOT a notebook or laptop, it's clearly a NETBOOK and should be compared with other netbooks, the cpu(AMD C-30) is good at light net surfing and HD videos because of the integrated gpu and little else, the problem is people see 'notebook' and then try to compare with other proper notebooks! i have the Asus dual core version(1012b with C-50) so i can do a little gaming as well, but only for older games and on lowest settings

    • I think they labelled it as a notebook because of the fullsize keyboard + 14" screen though.

  • everything about the laptop sound good except for the cpu

its a real shame you can't even upgrade it (i assume the cpu is soldered)

  • I think the $349 Lenovo from MSY is way better than this. C-30 would problly struggle to do basic web browsing.

If you are looking for a netbook then this one WAS better:

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60902

    • But that's a 75% increase in price for the Lenovo Laptop, and that deal isn't available any more either way.

    • The price difference is only 60%. (349-218) / 218
The real world performance difference will be almost 300% (I am not joking. I had a N450 netbook before and there is nothing I could do with it).

      • Ah yes, forgot about the delivery.

  • Will you guys get a special on the entry level GTX560 laptops one day? That's what I'm waiting for…

    • Keep your ear to the ground in a few weeks, we may have some on special.

  • +1_Linux

  • Ref is there any chance you could reserve me one til Jan 20th? I'm short on cash after Christmas and my workplace is only starting back up this week.

    • Please contact our sales team, there may be a possibility to do this.
