I have several Fishker and Paykel which died after in service about 5 years or so. these include 1 washing machine, stove tops (weird but yes they dies and replacement parts need to wait for 3 weeks OMG!!) oven which rarely used suddenly smelled like rubber burned. In comparison, my LG (cheaper brand) fridges, Air con as well as drier never stops a bit.
I wonder if Fishker and Paykel quality has dropped so much or is that just i am sooooo unlucky with whitegoods. But personally, i will not touch F&P ever again
If i ever want a European / US brand for whitegoods i will choose miele to this brand anydays
Agreed, F&P make simply awful quality whitegoods. I wouldn't touch them again with a barge-pole!
Agreed, if you must have F&P it's probably a good deal but comparatively they are always priced higher than other brands.
I just replaced my last F&P appliance. All our white goods were F&P and they have now all been replaced within 6 years except the dryer which lasted 10years.
All bar the dryer also had expensive repairs just outside the warranty period aswell.
antzz.. We have been warned by friends that have had bad experiences with F&P refrigerators. Like you we have gone to LG in the last 5 years with aircons, tvs, washing machines, etc, and they have been great.
Agreed. I bought the first version of this fridge 3 years ago for a discounted price of $2600, at the time most shops were selling them for $3000+. This model won some award for their design at the time. However, after the 2 years warranty expired the plastic catches under the door hinges on both sides broke one after the other. The part alone cost $18 each. I refused to pay for something that's supposed to last at least 5 years, and contacted F&P which I haven't got a response for many month.
There's another problem that I encounter with this fridge. Their water dispenser sometime randomly stops dispensing water for hours even with a reasonable new filter installed.

I bought Bosch 762 Ltr French Dr from Harvey Norman for 2400$ including 200$ cash back. Retail 3900$ that time. Made in Korea and very happy with the fridge so far. Checked with one extended warranty provider - he confirmed it is far better quality compared to LG and Samsung in terms of repair calls they receive.
