Brother Printers up to $100 Cash Back Depending on Model. Must Purchase with 3 Colour Value Pack

50

Pop into Dick Smith Southland (VIC) yesterday and got MFC-J430W Brother printer. Actual price itself was $139 but the sales guy took the $39 and offered to replace it as extra 1 year replacement warranty. And I get $50 cash back from this promotion. So technically the printer itself is $50 which is pretty good for printing, scanning, copying and faxing.

If you do not require the extra warranty, Centre Com is selling this model at $100.10 but does not look like they have stock OR Warcom (VIC) is doing this for $104.46

EDIT: Thanks to lbft reading the T&C, looks like you have to purchase a 3 colour value pack in a same transaction to be able to claim the cashback.

To be eligible, consumers must purchase one of the following Brother Inkjet products or Brother product combinations from an authorised and participating Brother reseller within Australia:

MFC-J5910DW; MFC-J6710DW for $50 Cashback or MFC-J6910DW for $100 Cashback between 1st October 2011 and 29th February 2012 (inclusive);

Or purchase DCP-J125 with LC-39CL 3PK; DCP-J315W with LC-39CL 3PK; DCP-J515W with LC-39CL 3PK (Exclusive to The Good Guys); MFC-J220 with LC-39CL 3PK; MFC-J415W with LC-39CL 3PK for $30 Cashback

Or DCP-J525W with LC-73CL 3PK; DCP-J715W with LC-67CL 3PK (Exclusive to Harvey Norman); DCP-J725DW with LC-73CL 3PK; DCP-925DW with LC-73CL 3PK; MFC-J430W with LC-73CL 3PK; MFC-J625DW with LC-73CL 3PK; MFC-J825DW with LC-73CL 3PK for $50 Cashback between 1st November 2011 and 29th February 2012 (inclusive).

Officeworks and Big W are non-participating resellers.

An LC67CL3PK, LC73CL3PK or LC39CL3PK is 3 Colour Value Pack (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow). 3 Colour Value Packs must be purchased in the same transaction and invoice as the inkjet printer/MFC.

    brother printers are not good.

I have had nothing but brother printers for more than 10 years. and they have all been faultless

    • yeah.. I have a HL1430 mono that's been going for about a decade.
probably jammed 20 times in all those years.. and that's probably because I have thrown the worst sorts of paper at it. it's still on the original drum (despite maybe 15000 prints or so)

i've dropped it so hard it left a massive crack.
accidentally left it out in the weather once.
      It's probably a T-1000 model in disguise.

best most reliable piece of equipment I've ever owned.
      and prints are really cheap

but maybe this has changed with the newer models..
and it's just one printer in many.

Just a note for people wanting the printer mentioned by mediam0de, to get the cashback for that printer you need to buy the $74 LC-73CL "3 colour value pack" ink cartridges in the same transaction. All of the A4 inkjets require the ink purchase and two of the lasers require a toner purchase.

If you're intending to buy original ink/toner then it doesn't matter but if you're intending to go with a third-party toner it could significantly reduce the usefulness of the deal.

    • Thanks for that. Guess I'll not be getting that $50 cashback then :p Damn T&C

Have added T&C details to the main post

      • If Dick Smith implied to you that you were eligible for the cashback, that forms part of the terms of the sale and you might be able to take the matter up with the store, and Fair Trading/Consumer Affairs if you get no love there…

        • Nah they did not. But they do have this cashback promotion brochure sitting next to the brother printers. He did see me take the brochure though but did not tell me anything.

        • LOL. It's definitely his fault. He should have understood your facial expression and told you more about the cash back promotion then assuming you knew the facts.

        • Sounds like you're out of luck :(

It might be worth trying for a refund and then buying it again? Buying the inks with the printer you still come out $25 and a set of inks ahead of where you are now. I know DSE doesn't have an official change of mind return policy any more but if you ask nicely and mention you thought you were going to be able to get the cashback there's a chance they'll do it for you…

All the printer companies make most of their money selling cartridges anyway,

    http://theoatmeal.com/comics/printers

To borrow a line from the oatmeal,

Either printer ink is made from unicorn blood or we are all getting screwed.

Anyone know of a honest company which sells reasonably priced cartridges ?

    • Damn you now I want to buy a set of oatmeal posters (4 for $20 delivery is free), I can't afford a printer anymore.

    • That's why you should shop around for a printer that has cheap ink. Eg. the 6500 and 8500 HP's.

  • Not knocking the deal, but if you ever need to contact Brother customer support regarding redemption offers, prepared to be ignored. I bought a Brother TN-155 toner pack for my colour printer a few months back ($600 worth of toners at once), the "unqiue" code which was apparently printed on the inside of the promo sleeve was missing so I couldn't claim the cashback - all emails were ignored = FAIL ;-(
