  • Thanks OP. If anyone has a better Android tablet, please let me know….

    • +1

The S7+ model up. More expensive though.

      • But that's only screen size and whilst I love the AMOLED, there's no difference in running gear…?

    • Not yet. The only manufacturer making flagship tablets is Samsung. So you won't see SD888 tab until September.

  • Oh I really want to purchase this.

  • Would any local stores price match this deal?

    • +1

Maybe OW. edit * would be hard cos of the voucher.

  • Hot price… Worth the extra for an ipad?

    • +5

This is as good as it gets for an android tablet. If you prefer android get this, but it's generally accepted that the tablet experience is better on ipad due to better app support from the devs.

    • +1

I'd say Android for media consumption due to wider aspect ratio.
      ios for productivity

      • True. I find that the best of both worlds can be found in between - which is the 3:2 aspect ratio. Typically used by Microsoft for their Surface computers. Would be awesome if Samsung tablets were on 3:2. I think Dex would be great on that aspect ratio.

It says "international model" at the end of the description so I guess it's grey import.

    • this is important to know so you really need to compare prices with other grey imports

  • That's a really good saving given that most other places are $999-1099

  • cheaper than the one i saw on amazon US

  • really tempted to get this… been looking for a good upgrade for a work/university device…

Oh my goodness, this is the best I have seen, but its more than double the price of the ones on Banggood….

    https://www.banggood.com/Alldocube-iPlay-40-UNISOC-T618-Octa…

Ive been looking and looking for a good deal :/

    • are those similar to the unbranded version of things (like the cheaper versions of apple watch and Samsung watch)? I'm just wondering how they hold up compared to bigger brands…

      • +1

They're not the best, limited to no software updates, nonexistent support and generally poor performance.

      • +2

agree with @AEKaBeer, I've tried these before, they look nice in renders but in-hand quality feels quite off and bulky.

Most importantly, though, it's somehow always laggy despite benchmarks.

IMO stick to "brand" stuff like the Galaxy A7.

        • Thank you! I had thought about that!

    • +2

Just the fact that you can't play FHD stream from Netflix or Prime video on these Chinese tablet is enough for me to get Tab A7. All these cheap tablets are only good for media consumption and lacking Widevine L1 is seriously a big disadvantage.

The new Lenovo Tab P11/P11 Pro however are quite good alternative since they feature reasonable hardware, OLED screen (on Pro) plus Widevine L1.

Thanks OP! Just bought one😊👍 Got 2% cashback from Cashrewards for Kogan new user (13.27AUD)

  • Man I just paid $789 for this from Amazon a few days ago!

  • The page says that it's an international model and looks to be from Malaysia. Does anyone know if there is there anything different about the international model?

I got S6 model a few months ago for the same price, and S6 is way superior to S7

    • +1

      No, that is false.

      • -1

What is false? S6 has AMOLED screen whilest S7 has only IPS. S6 has higher ppi.
S6 is smaller, thinner and more lightweight.

        • Bigger 120hz screen with a much faster sampling rate > oversaturated amoled

          • @krisspy: Samsung 120hz are not real 120hz, it's up to 120 - it is dynamic and for system ui mostly, for apps it's 60.

AMOLED can present natural colours, there's oob mode for that
