The body's 'coping mechanism' so you don't think about how much you paid for the blanket…
nonono if you want to move the blanket you have to kick it repeatedly to shift it 5cm over to one side so you eventually get so exhausted from ninja kicking that you're calm and relaxed and no longer suffering from anxiety.

Found this:
A “Gravity blanket” on Kickstarter that claimed to use cozy pressure to treat anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other conditions has been taking the internet by storm, raising more than $3 million. But on Thursday, the company quietly deleted the bold medical claims on its crowdfunding site — language that violated Kickstarter policy and went against FDA recommendations — after STAT inquired about its promotional statements.
Anti-Anxiety Weighted Blanket Was $320.00
The price gave me anxiety…
Create a problem and then fix it.
how long u been working at apple
you're really mind blown about this new thing you found that you have not much clue on huh. how cute.
huh?
Google translate please…
Bought one from Kogan https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/trafalgar-all-seasons-weighted-… for $64 and does the same job.
Website has existed a grand total of a few months. When were they regularly sold for $320?
Just looking at the picture on the screen makes me feel so relaxed…
I know people handle shit differently and all that and I'm not having a go if this stuff works for you,
But if anything, being stuck under a giant heavy ass blanket and not being able to move, feeling restrained and potentially claustrophobic, I mean, I feel it'd give more people anxiety than it would relief from anxiety.
Seems to work well for my (adult aged) daughter. As a baby she was also more settled if wrapped tightly in a blanket. Personally I couldn't think of anything worse, but there you go.
Seems to work well for my (adult aged) daughter. As a baby she was also more settled if wrapped tightly
Why don't you just wrap your daughter in muslin wrap?? It's much cheaper…
She's 20 years old so I'm not the one wrapping her in anything. But I'll pass on the advice.
I thought so too until I actually tried one
It really is more like being a cozy hug than it is like being tied down
You make it sound like it’s a rhino pinning them down
Have you ever had an x ray at the dentist when they put that lead blanket on? It’s so comforting and relaxing. They’re about 10kg for reference.
I have not. I do though, have a friend who loves these blankets and I've used them several times. It's not the end of the world for me, but it's very restrictive and unless it's crazy cold I end up sweating. One of her's was 9kg, the others were 15 I think.
Fair. I’ve never actually tried a weighted blanket, but any time I am at the dentist I love the lead blanket I always ask them to let me have a nap 😂
Your opinion based off an actual weighted blanket holds more weight (pun intended) than my assumption though.
from personal experience, the weighted blanket gives a person an anchor (figuratively and physically), in turn providing a sense of safety from not being anxious or not 'drifting' when asleep. Trust me, it helps. Not speaking for the product, rather the presence of holding onto something or having a weighted/heavier pillow on top.
$69 @Amazon
That thing is 4.5kg lol
Or goto any asian/indian household good store they'll have weighted blankets way cheaper
Why asian/indian and not african/italian?
or German or Australian
I mean there's more chance of finding an asian/indian household good store locally than african/italian I would assume?
Idk I'm from NZ so have no real idea how diverse your local stores are.
Basically you could pick em up way cheaper
Commonly available blanket in India/Pakistan, where they are filled and sold by "cotton weight".
No mention of how much this weighs. A very important part of a weighted blanket, if you ask me.
FWIW both my wife and I found these do actually seem to work - it'll take a few nights to get used to them and you need to get the right weight for you (approx 10-15% of body weight) but worth trying.
My only issue at present is I get very hot sleeping and this tips me over - but in cooler months am sure it'd not be an issue as it's not that hot (glass beads inside).
That said…..Big Foot, the Loch Ness monster and the person who paid $320 for this all have what in common? ;-)
As a percentage of body weight, mine would be uneconomical to ship :(

Welcome to OzCriticism OP
Bought a double one from Amazon recently for under $70. It weighed what it said it weighed and was good quality for a cheapie.
Has it made a difference? It has not changed my life drastically. I sleep better some nights I sleep worse others. It’s not some magic fix.
I don’t have too much anxiety and if I did I don’t think this blanket would help. I do find if I pop my legs under whilst I’m watching tv etc the muscles relax quicker. Like a previous poster mentioned it is awkward to move around at night.
I was hoping it would stop me tossing and turning at night, but I still do.
Would I buy again? No.
These are the type of ads I expect on Facebook with grossly inflated RRPs and 50-70% off, oh and you even used the low stock tactic. Sorry I'd hope ozbargainers are a tad bit smarter than the idiots who actually buy stuff from Facebook.
Anti-Anxiety? how?
