I have the bigger 2000A unit and works very well.

    CAUTION:
    In the description above
"POWER DELIVERY 18W HIGH-SPEED CHARGING" this relates only to re-charging mobile devices such as smart phones.. iPads etc. The cable supplied is USB-C to USB-C. You may need a separate micro-USD adapter for older phones.

To avoid confusion this WILL NOT re-charge your vehicle's battery. It is intended to be used to JUMP START your vehicle and will do this each time and every time as long as you check your unit's holding charge periodically. My unit holds over 75% after 3 months.

If you want to charge your vehicle's battery, try this unit:

GOOLOO 6V/12V Smart Battery Charger and Maintainer 6-Amp Full Automatic 6-Stages Trickle Charging with Clamps for Car,Motorcycle,Lawn Mower,Boat RV,SUV,ATV,Sealed Lead Acid Battery-Repair Batteries. (Amazon AU description)

    • did you purchase 2000A off Amazon? seems like they don't offer it there anymore..hmm

      • I just checked and it seems it’s disappeared from Amazon…

    • Is the GOOLOO 6V/12V a faster charger? I have a cheapo Aldi battery charger that does the job but charges really slow

EDIT: does say 6A quick charge.

    • can this jump start too?

      • If you're referring to the GOOLOO 6V/12V battery charger, then no, it's just a charger.

    • Thanks heaps, just ordered the charger as well. It's also on sale!

  • +1

I have the 2000A unit as well, and it has no problems starting my 4L Territory when the battery is reduced to just clicking the starter.

Is a Roadside assistance service not cheaper/faster than this? I've literally never jumpstarted my 11 year old car ever. This is a solution in search of a problem?

    • +10

This one time purchase will last over 5 years, compared to a subscription.

Self sufficient, even works in the outback where there’s no service.

      Able to help other people

Able to charge phone from it

Able to use it multiple times (e.g bad battery, can jump start car to get around places until a new battery can be organised)

    • +8

My wife used one of these about 5 times when our battery packed it up before I could pick up and fit a new battery. Used at the grocery store, school pickup etc. Took her roughly 2 minutes each time. No comparison to having to call and wait for roadside assistance each time. That one time purchase three years ago is still going strong.

      • +3

My wife found this so easy she didn’t mention there was battery problem - only realised when I went to take her Kia to pick up the kids. She had used it 4 times over 2 days and thought it was an acceptable new normal.

I haven't used a spare tyre in 15+ years, it doesn't mean I'm going to take it out of the car

    • +1

When you have a motorcycle that you don't ride often, these are life savers.

    • +3

Faster? Lol, not a chance. Cheaper is a bit more arguable, but for a lot of people it is definitely better value

    • Wait an hour for the RAC or use one of these to get your car started in a few minutes………

I'll go with the Gooloo but stick with the RAC by all means

    • Not sure why you think Roadside assist would be faster, if this is in the boot, the car will literally be started quicker than making the phone call to roadside assist let alone waiting for them to rock up.
I've had one for over a year, probably used it a dozen times. Super handy for cars/bikes that don't get driven a lot and aren't on trickle chargers.

  • Was looking to buy the 2000A version, but seems like they have pulled out the larger version

    • Also waiting for the 2000A version to come back or a larger capacity model. Would be good if they did a combo with the battery charger as well.

Had to use one of these in anger for the first time yesterday. Amazing little units!

    • Why in anger?

      • +10

I too get excited and happy when my car doesn't start because of the battery

  • i think i've seen these on OZB enough that they are good, so finally bit the bullet and bought one

    thanks op!

  • After owning for 12 months used the 2000A version twice in a week last week for jump starting. Very impressed how easy it was, no more worrying about getting the sequence wrong when jump starting with a running car and damaging the electronics. Handy camping for charging phones, kept it topped up with 12v battery

    • But still better to have a set of jumper leads as backup/boost.

  • i know the itechworld jump starter will wake up a lithium battery from "safe mode". will this one?

    • What is safe mode?

      • when battery gets to low the BMS will put the battery into safe mode, which disconnects power from the terminals. the standard lithium charger wont "wake" up the battery from that point. therefore if you are out bush and battery goes into safe mode, youre stuffed unless you have a jump starter that will wake your battery up. i know this because it happened to me.

You may expect your charger to recovery the battery but modern 240V chargers however DC Chargers and regulators need to see a battery before they will fire up. This is an in-built safety feature.

  • Oh FFS, I bought this yesterday for $85! Luckily I can cancel and re-order for $75 - thanks OP :)

    • 2000a is better

  • Is this one better as it says water resistant

    https://www.amazon.com.au/GOOLOO-SuperSafe-Starter-Portable-…

    • Is it worth the extra $25 for a few rubber plugs in the ports?

Maybe if you're using this on a boat, but even then I'm sure it's not that hard to keep it dry unless your boat sinks, in which case jump starting your battery is probably the least of your problems.

  • +1

Do you need to periodically recharge this thing?

    • +1

Yes. The cells will self discharge over time, depending on storage conditions

  • Can I charge my android with this

  • Fantastic! Thanks OP, just killed our old jump starter so this is perfect timing! :-)

I tried to jumpstart a completely dead battery (unbeknownst to me at the time) with one of these recently.
Fried the connectors and almost welded them to the battery terminal screws I had connected to.

Thought I'd done it wrong, so bought one of the LASER ones and tried again - Fried it too !

Bought a battery charger and 'Repaired' the battery, which worked fine, then sold the car…

    • +2

You sold the car because of the dying battery or you were thinking to sell it anyway?

      • -1

The battery finally tipped me over the edge !
But seriously, It had been sitting there on a side street since end of March last year.
Rego came up, thought, Naaah. Time to go..

      • Each to its own using such methods then sell the car is unethical and selfishness behaviour, when someone else might be driving a potential unsafe car after buying his one

        • +1

          Fair comment
I did make them aware of the 'many' issues with the car, unroadworthy, water in the engine block, etc.
          Including the battery issue !
I even had a LubeMobile checklist to go with the car.
All for a total sale price of $700.00 (OzBargain?)

    • +2

Sounds like you/the dead battery shorted the jump starter terminals

    • Sounds like the battery had an internal issue.
I've started car batteries as low as 7V before with no issues. Amazing how something so small can provide so much instant power. Heaps better than lugging those old school jumper packs around.

  • i got the 4000A one when it was in stock, jump started a diesel van and my XR6T no problems
gooloo seems to be a good brand of jump starters

  • I wonder what happens if you happen to connect the wrong way would it catch fire? Or your battery just goes boom….

    • It does have inbuilt protection and shouldn't allow it to work, however it does have this in the manual

Do Not connect the jump starter's clamps to the battery reversely while pressing the ''BOOST'' button to avoid accident.

      • It beeps if you do

  • Hope one day they invent air compressor and jump starter 2 in 1 powerbank.

  • I guess it should be fine with my RAV4…?
Just got one 2nd hand and the battery flat in a week…
Had to ask my neighbour to get a charger for a trip to replace a new battery.

  • Just bought this, broke down due to battery issues three times the other week. NRMA/RACQ are awesome, but to do it myself - much better. I wanted to buy this one because it has the USB charger, too, and seems to have lots of great reviews. At least it's not just a one-purpose. I use my current portable battery all the time. Great to have a 2-in-1, especially with a laptop that has USB-C charge. Thanks poster.

  • Does anywhere else have them at a reasonable price? looking to get more then one….

  • looks to be still available with no code ——- for $78-99
