Does it come with a lid?
No, I don't believe it does. There is a separate for US 25
I love the wok. I ended up buying the lid later from them, wish I bought it together to save on shipping. The lid fits perfectly. It just so happens (maybe intentionally) snaps snuggly into place held in by the head of the bolts/nuts of the handles.
How does it compare to this?
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201162003268I bought the larger 36cm version of this.
It needed to be properly seasoned - this involved scrubbing off as much of the coating which had been applied on the wok for transport and display, then lightly oiling and burning off the oil on the wok several times (lots of instruction on youtube). Now that it is seasoned, I love it.
Easy to use, heats up rapidly and great for stir frying without sticking. After cooking, I wash briefly under hot water with a scouring pad (non-scratch I think) to remove any food residue, then back on the stove for a minute to dry - no detergent required.
Just confirming you bought the Ebay one ? The Ebay one is a lot cheaper - why would we get the mamafong one ? Are there benefits or is it the same ?
Yes. The Ebay D.Line 36cm one with a second holder handle, handles in wood.
Couldn't aee any extra benefit from the mamafong one.
And a plus for the D.Line one - it is made in Taiwan@pencilman: Why the neg? I'm only saying what I bought and answering a question.
@pencilman: I got ya bro
Why can't a wok come pre-seasoned? I try to season mine but it just doesn't turn out like the ones on youtube
just keep using it for cooking and don't use detergent for washing. It will be seasoned over time.
Also, I think most wok come pre-seasoned, but with nasty mineral oil for transportation. Not really something you want to have in your food.@ksama0079: oh when i mean pre-seasoned, i mean already heated up and turned black ready to go
Was gonna buy the mammafong round bottom one but saw this and ordered the 36cm to try out. Anyone know a good deal for a ladle and spatula?
This is the real deal in this post! Thank you. Hand hammering has its merits (hold food in place in cooler areas of Wok, however, the D-Line one has grooves that serve the same purpose.
Thx bought, been waiting
Is there a round bottom version? Round bottom more sexy wok hey.
Yes
US$38 + Delivery
That's AU$49+ if somebody came here browsing from Oz.
Imagine you work at the wok factory and your boss gives you the job to beat the good woks with a hammer so they can sell for more.
Is it Uncle Roger approved ?
You mean the guy that couldn't cook 2 minute noodles?
It is Fuiyoh!
Thank you uncle!
Uncle Roger only approves is RMB is involved. RMB is better than MSG.
Flat Bottom Grills they make the Wokking world go round.
Tip: season with a high smoke point oil.
Lodge have a list on their site,I use grapeseed from costco.https://www.lodgecastiron.com/cleaning-and-care/cast-iron/oi….
If you have an induction stove top, i recommend to not buy those ones.
You'll need one with a flatter bottom so it can have closer contact to the pan and it can heat up better
I bought a Victoria's basement pre-seasoned carbon steel wok with long handle.
It seems alright so far. It cost about $50, i seasoned it extra as well just for the sake of it
