Hand beaten = more surface area from dents = more searing when tossing.
Some chefs swear by it, some think it's trivial.
Carbon steel only good if you have high heat wok burner like in the chinese resturants. Or a rambo wok burner in backyard.
For home use your better off getting a cast iron wok.
Does home use make using carbon steel worse than cast iron wok? Or that there's no additional benefit of using carbon steel over cast iron for normal home use?
They're completely different materials.
Cast iron stores heat, carbon steel releases heat.
Not to mention a wok made of cast iron would be ridiculously heavy
