I guess I need to buy another guitar. Sigh.

Actually bought two, the Bass is super cheap and also a blue Accoustic.

    any sale for left-handed guitar

  • Classical guitars can be restrung to be left handed guitars. This is not the case for Steel String Acoustic guitars.

  • ugh, that bass guitar pack is cheaper than my hire costs for kids school.. bah, already paid the hire fees!!

    • They'll have much more fun using a school bought bass than this cheapo stuff

      • +2

You think the school will buy premium equipment? Think again.

(To schools defence, kids are really rough on stuff, you just want something that works well enough)

        • Whilst it's far from premium, none of the schools I went to had Monterey stuff. The bass was certainly a Squier at the least

  • My 9yo is about to start acoustic guitar lessons. Any recommendations?
    Thanks

Buy a secondhand instrument off Facebook. $60 is the going price

Thanks. Any suggestions for brands to look out for?

        • +2

Fender, Yamaha are your better brands.

          Monterey, Cort, Livingstone are budget.

If your child is keen buy them the best guitar you can because it’ll be better and more enjoyable to play. Also if they give up in a few months etc it’s resale value will be higher.

Cheap gear can lead to frustration.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks mate. Will read up on what size she'll need and keep an eye out for a decent second hand guitar.

  • Monterey electric guitar on sale too??

    • On their website they only sell one non-bass Monterey electric and its not on sale.

I bought the bass, I dont need one but I found it in my cart anyway. Ill let you know what its like if you want when it arrives.

      • Yeah would be great. Just wanted to know about their build quality. Cannot seem to find the reviews anywhere.

        • +1

Will do. I have two Pacificas (012 and 112J) and an Artist LP, all fairly inexpensive but quite decent that should be a decent comparison in build quality.

          • @Franc-T: Was looking at artist sth or this, both similarly priced.

            • +1

@Rock32: Ok I have received them and its definitely a servicable bass guitar but also feels built to a budget. The Artist LP60 I have feels and looks fantastic but the STH is half the price, so I cant comment there.

If I was buying a first guitar, i would recommend getting a new or secondhand Pacifica (Only buy used if you can get one for ~$150 otherwise the saving isnt worth it - cant see any on facebook marketplace or ebay but cash converters have two 012's for around $150).

The reason being is you can get cheaper guitars and more expensive guitars but Pacificas have been well built and well regarded beginner guitars for a long time have had no quality issues.

Keep in mind you also need an amp. I have a blackstar ID core, which I love but theres plenty of decent amps out there - most of the time the amps you get with guitars are pretty basic, id skip them entirely if you could and get something nicer

I just dound this on ebay which is a great price for this little amp:

              https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blackstar-ID-CORE10-10W-Stereo-C…

You also would need a strap ($40 daddario locking strap is good - thats what I use) and a tuner and guitar cable if your guitar doesnt come with one.

              • @Franc-T: Thanks. I am looking at Ibanez gio rx22 i believe it is and an orange 12l amp for $280. Do you think this is a good value?
