Hey ozbargainers,

I just ordered prescription glasses inc. delivery for $23.

This is my first deal post so I hope I write it all up properly.
A while back there was a very popular deal posted on here for prescription glasses through specsavers and I did a crazy amount of online window shopping and found this great deal today.

I just purchased prescription lenses including delivery for $23.37, but you can also get it cheaper depending on the frame you choose. I've linked the site sorting from Low $ to High $
https://www.visiondirect.com.au/designer-eyeglasses?sortBy=s…

Vision Direct has a 4.7 rating on trust pilot, this is my first time ordering with them so I can't give a personal review until I receive the glasses.

If you choose standard lenses it comes free with the frame purchased

I ordered these specific glasses: https://www.visiondirect.com.au/designer-eyeglasses/SmartBuy…

I have honey installed on my laptop and it applied this code: HONEYSBC30 which gives you 30% off SmartBuy collection frames

If you order below $99, shipping and handling will cost $6.99
My selected frame which cost $23.4 + $6.99 for shipping amounted to $30.39, once coupon code was applied I saved $7.02. This amounted to $23.37 for everything.

I got my eye examination from Oscar Wylee and asked the optometrist for my PD. He wrote it down on a sticky note for me as it appears to not come with the official prescription.

Here's a screenshot of my order: https://imgur.com/gallery/ArqPOrF

  • PD is the one reading they're not required to give you as standard but I've never had any issue when I've asked for it (it's very unlikely to change, but I keep forgetting to write it somewhere).

  • I had bad experience with vision direct.
The estimated time of delivery is months and on top my glasses were incorrect power.

Only thing I can say is I had to return the glasses and they refunded but remember the return postage is not covered by them.

It was a pain and waste of time not worth the hassle.

    • Seems like you got unlucky, I have done 5 orders with them and have been happy.

  • I added one pair at $16.00, then added my prescription, which suddenly went up $85.00 just a standard script, so don't know why that happened

    • Same. Adding a prescription to a $50 frame jacks the price to above $150. Bluelight filter etc takes it beyond $200.

Guess I'll wait for a deal on Zenni (missed out on their black friday deal).

    • In confused why that happened. Standard prescription lens was free for me. I manually entered my prescription and didn't upload it. Could that be it?

      • I entered mine manually too.
I have a cylindrical with axis and spherical number. Perhaps that's why.

  • This seems too good to be true - or is this just shining a light on how much we are being ripped off by retail optometrists?

    • I'm new to the prescription glasses world and I did ALOT of window shopping online and read forums. I know my family members pay $300 plus for theirs. I'm glad I got onto the online shops instead and there's always promos. Clearly is also great site. They have free returns and their return process is really easy. I bought my first pair just a month ago from them for $64, now I've found cheaper with vision direct.
