which one ?
Os this a reliable drive to store photos and videos?
Just wait till you hear about a concept called "backups".
But then are you storing your backups in multiple locations, are you doing regular backups, etc, etc, etc?
For the average person cloud storage is the easiest and safest solution for things like family photos which are gone permanently if lost and that aren't going to require a huge amount of storage space.
If you're storing publicly available content like movies then yeah these are fine.
@Cheaplikethebird: Exactly right, also I assume most people's 'backup' drive will be as cheap and nasty as their primary drive. What happens if both fail.. Cloud storage is the safest option for important files.
@Cheaplikethebird: which cloud storage would you recommend? google photos is now charging money.
@[Deactivated]: I'd recommend doing some research, it will depend on use case and how much storage you will need. You'll most likely have to pay a monthly/yearly fee but at least you'll have piece of mind you'll never lose this data. Google photos/drive currently give 15GB per year for free, you can pay $25 per year for 100GB which I assume would be enough for most people's personal photos and videos that they don't want to lose.
@[Deactivated]: I recommend OneDrive. Seems to be best value esp considering it can be had very cheaply.
I got 365 for about $76 annual plan which comes with 1tb storage. Better price than Apple iCloud, google drive etc
That's right, but what abut if you only plug this one to the cimputer when you are doing the actual backups? You will surely extend the lifetime of the drive for a long time, as opposed to have it plugged in and doing read/write constantly, or would they also get damaged from just being stored?
Yes but always keep a backup if they are important to you.
Bleh, hope I can cancel the Seagate order from last night.
Officeworks for a price beat?
Currently it's listed $99 here
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/seagate-4t…
Requires a coupon, so they wouldn't honour.
Offt, just ordered the $90 one from OP 2 hours ago! Let's hope I can cancel that and get this one!
The Seagate 4TB Expansion Desktop is cheaper on the Seagate AU eBay $83.30.

any chance you've got a link for that price?
Nice one, I ordered from these guys. They are listed as Fluidtek in the payment transaction.
Lol! Fast Eddie!! where is he these days? bathing in money from Logitech deals?
I updated the post with the link.
I don't even need it… But I'm tempted.
Same. Decided not to but then my brain said Afterpay 4 x $21.
I just bought it outright instead.
How is the drive performance? should i invest in this or build a small NAS for home? any ideas ??
This is a ridiculously cheap price to store your PS4 or Xbox games on. And torr…I mean Linux distros
Yes, that would be my excuse to buy it. To have more space to seed lol.
I do have a spare raspberry pi 4…
Is the Expansion Desktop a recommended storage drive for PS5 and/or Xbox Series X games?
