Philips HP430 DJ Style Headphones - $12.95 Delivered!

240

Previous deal was $19.90 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/54016

I dont know about the quality of this item but I got philips HP2000 for $15 (harvey Norman last week christmas sale) which is almost similar and the sound quality is good.
I'm sure this one should be better than mine.

  • I used this headphone before. The sound quality is good but it leaks sound despite being closed. Its a huge headphone, will make you head small :)

  • how long is shipping usually on this?

    • +1

Three days or less to Sydney,

Same day if you're in Brisbane.

  • -1

I have this headphone and I would advise people against buying it. It is quite uncomfortable to wear and the sound quality is nothing special.

    • +1

I bought these from the last sale and they seem pretty comfortable to me. Are you putting them on your ears?

      • I'm talking specifically about the band that rests on top of your head. The padding is inadequate to me, and I would guess that more expensive models have better ways to support your head.

Anything that costs low 2 digits sound crappy. Sure they may be sufficient if your idea of good sound quality muddy heavy bass. Otherwise, stay away. Good ones cost at least 100 upwards. Also beats does not equate to good sound quality. It's just poser earphones with adequate sound quality at an overpriced cost.

    • +5

Agree. Bose/Beats etc are just overpriced due to brand/marketing/design. But really, I don't think this deal deserves a neg considering it is only $12.95 delivered for a well known brand (although that's where it ends…) large closed-type headphones with in-line volume control. Some people just want cheap stuff that looks okay and don't care much about "proper" audio quality as long as it sounds okay also.

There's plenty of sub $100 headphones/IEMs that sound great.

Edit: This model is actually in the first link:

"The HP430 is another interesting entry from Philips that’s let down by the build quality and choice of materials rather than sound quality. The sound is well-balanced and boasts excellent clarity and quite a bit of detail. With a slightly tighter fit and a less shaky construction they could be serious competition for the PX100s and PortaPros. As it stands, they’re just a good-sounding portable that isn’t quite there all-around."

I disagree, these things are amazing for the price: http://www.koss.com/en/products/headphones/ear-clip-headphon…

      • IME they are highly uncomfortable and not worth it. My ears are very sensitive to outside pressure and these take quite a while to get used to

A lot of people are forgetting that $13 isn't much for headphones. If you want basic headphones and want to pay bottom dollar, this is the best you can get.
I don't think we should be bringing in $100+ headphones into this discussion.

I absolutely agree. This is a cheap pair of cans if you want it for general use. However since the OP mentioned it as having good sound quality I just wanted to clarify some small points so as not to have fellow ozbargainers get disappointed. Let's just say that this is good pair of cans if you find apple earphones good enough. That should be a adequate comparison.

I have these as well but they are not too shabby at all. In fact I prefer them to the cheapass UE200 IEMs in terms of sound quality and can hear things in my music I couldn't hear from my UE200 or even my old CX300.

I am comparing headphones with IEMs but purely on sound quality and nothing else..so yeah

Sure enough these are no Grado/Beyerdynamics/Audio Technica or any other premium brands but these are an absolute bargain for anyone else.
For under $30 but better sound quality try the

        Sennheiser HD201 - $25
        Koss PortaPros - $30

        • +4

I have the HD201's, I'm not an audiophile and have never spent more than $30 bucks on headphones (except for another pair of sennheisers pmx70 for running) - The HD201's are really good, I'm hearing details I've never heard before, and they also wrap around the ears to reduce ambient noise. Great for ignoring the missus when I game.

        • Thanks for the info. Ordered one to try it out. For $12.95, can't complain and I am no audiophile. We'll see how long this last. My HD201 lasted 6 years now, still working well, just the plastic covering is peeling off the ear padding.

  • And to think I missed this deal as I had a shower :(

Oh well. Congrats Tony and his team, hope they make a difference :)

wrong thread dude…I'm sure you're talking about the free wine

      • Too much wine for P.Sherman…

  • Ozbargin has been good to me tonight.. free wine and cheap headphones .. win/win :)

  • Thanks - these will certainly be better than the crappy ones I got on an old Staples deal (when they first opened and I wanted to build enough of an order to get free shipping or something)

  • Hi all
Just joined OB, been following for months so it was time(or about time)!
Also bought these headphones because COD sounds was annoying the Missy.
    thanks for this deal Sonic2011!

    • the least you can do is plus the deal

  • Got my + vote and ordered 2 of them. Was looking to buy one for mum and also update my current aging one that I use when playing on my PS3 to not annoy the misses.

  • Has anyone received this item yet? This is my very 1st order with Dealfox and according to their page, the order is shipped within 24hours and they said an email would be sent with the tracking no, but I have not received that as well.

  • I just received mine. Got email yesterday saying it was being shipped. Only one day to melbourne which was very fast. If you have an account at dealfox you can check the delivery status.

    • There is a field labeled Shipping Method and says Shipping

Is this what you are referring to?

      • No. Once it has been shipped there will be an option below your shipping address saying items ordered and a link that says track your order.

  • got my order after 2 days in sydney. Sent by courier and had tracking number and all. When buying i thought this site was like other bargain sites/dealextreme etc which would take ages etc but pleasantly surprised.

As for the headphones they're pretty uncomfortable with inadequate padding on the headband. The sound is okay. Nothing special but for $13 these are a steal for anyone looking for portable headphones which sound better then stock ipod earbuds.

  • Got mine this morning before leaving to work. Did not get the chance to open the box.

I hope they will be comfortable otherwise I will have to buy something else for mum.

The other pair is for me when I play on my PS so no big deal if not so comfortable as i don't get to play often.
