For $50, this is perfect as a bench for doing light weights. Obviously you wouldn't do 100kg presses on these things. However, this would be great for my girlfriend as she can do basic dumbbell exercises on this bench.
It seems a little bit small
it does the job! and i cant think of any exercises where u need to rest ur legs up on the bench too?
Depends on the length of your legs. I found the height of my old bench was too high (and not adjustable) in that when I was on my back, keeping my feet on the ground forced my lower back to arch and be under stress, I ended up putting some bricks where my feet were to be to help, if the bench had been longer I could have my feet on it (though less stable not having them spread out).
but 1.1m. it means you have to sit on the very very bottom of it, otherwise your head will hang over. this 'little' inconvenience will get annoying very quickly
But wouldn't you have to be almost 7ft for that to be an issue? Unless you're someone with short legs.
If a small home gym set-up is something you are looking into, spend a little more and get an incline/decline bench…you will be better off in the long term.
Greater versatility in terms of work out exercises.
Just my opinion.
Very true, Altho I'm a student renting on my own so just getting this to avoid paying gym membership. I can do my whole workout with a Dumbell bench n chip up bar. N when I finish uni throw the bench out haha so yeah this deal was perfect for me :)
As in you bench with a chin up bar?
Could you take some photos to show your set-up? :O
He never said he benched with a chin up bar. Re-read the post champ.
Yer - he has a separate chin up bar
I always go second hand for gym equipment. Often barely used and a fraction of the price
gumtree is great for this kind of stuff :)
Any suggestions for some?
I personally wouldn't skimp on a incline bench - i've used some pretty dodgy benches and would seriously recommend going to a shop and trying it yourself to assess the benches rigidity and stability. The last thing you want is a 40kg+ dumbbell in your face.
I go to a gym where all the benches are made for a commercial environment, therefore i cannot recommend a budget model based on personal experience.
Perhaps someone who owns one can give a suggestion.
I agree Ted!
Also, this doubles up as a 2-seater stool!
And a bed for kids!
all you need now is to get on dat der celltech hardcore to get swole for summer.
Lol - by any chance do u watch the hodgetwins on youtube?
Ah the new years resolution to kick the gut and get fit.
Why not fork out for a proper benchpress? If you have the space for both this and a bench press you either a) Live in woop woop and can afford the space b) Live in a major Australian city and can afford both the space and the money.
a 50 dollar bench is a 50 dollar bench :P
http://www.rebelsport.com.au/ecom/rebel/product_detail.aspx?…
almost double the price but is it better? Save $30 now $89.
I'd suggest steering clear of both.
The rebel sport gear is almost as bad as this exceed bench as far as weight limits / strength goes. The rebel sport mark-ups are pretty high (over $4 a kg for weight plates compared to $2.50 elsewhere etc) so the double price doesn't mean double quality.
These kind of equipment are really only designed for very light use - thin steel, and this is reflected in their low price.
As others have said above, better to go a little more up market and get a bench that will last for years and can take an absolute pounding without any danger. Dumbbells / barbells are bloody heavy things to have drop on your head.
Check out the online gym equipment stores - do a google search for gym equipment and compare prices / quality.
personally, I don't think a workout bench is something you should skimp on…
also seems a bit short for a workout bench to lie comfortably on at 110cm (just putting it out there)
