For all Studio Ghibli fans out there, the latest feature film 'Arrietty' (or The Borrowers) is available for pre-order on Zavvi and Amazon. It is to be released in the UK on Jan 9.

Between the two, Zavvi has the cheaper single-item price + shipping, but if your order is over £25, the free shipping combined with VAT deduction from Amazon makes it cheaper from Amazon (£14.16).

The film is due to be released in the cinemas in Australia on Jan 12 2012, so it will be a while before the DVD/blu-ray will be available for Australia.

The item linked is a collector's edition that contains both blu-ray and DVD and some postcards. The normal version is the same price at Zavvi, but cheaper on Amazon.

    I love Studio Ghibli films but wouldn't it be better to just wait it out so it has both Japanese and English for Audio? Either way its a good deal

      Personally I like watching the films in Japanese and use the English subtitles. Somehow the American accents usually employed in the English dubbing seem rather out-of-place and the film loses some of its original charm. That's just my opinion. Each to its own…

        Miyazaki has said in the past that he thinks the dubs are great and prefers English viewers to watch them with dubs so they aren't distracted from the visual splendour by reading the whole movie.

        Six of one, half a dozen of another though. To each their own. I'll probably watch it in both.

          Agreed, love dubs so much more but there's a few exceptions where I've watched anime/films in Japanese & then the english dub just sounds stupid, also dubs are usually way behind compared to original audio for large series.

          Myazaki's remarks apply to American viewers, really; I suspect the reason why some viewers prefer subtitles is that the out-of-place accents are more disruptive than the need to read subtitles.

          Three things might change the preference for subtitles:
          • dubbing by the English cast of Monkey.
          • dubbing by Japanese actors with clear-yet-accented English delivery.
          • co-development of the characters with the casting of English-speaking actors (rather than cursory assignment after the fact.)

      It'll have the english dub included :) But it won't be the Disney dub like the one in cinemas, instead it'll be their own UK dub which is a bit weird

      English dub is only useful when children are watching, or for those who really hate subtitles. Everyone else seems to prefer the original audio.

        Studio Ghibli normally has great dubs and if you originally watched Howl's Moving Castle/Spirited Away in dub form you'll prefer that to the original. I prefer dubs most of the time, really varies though

    Moonlight Cinemas in Perth has a preview screening on 4 Jan. Maybe at all the other moonlights as well.

      No hope for this in Sydney. The weather forecast for the next 28 days show all but 2 days with medium to high chance of rain. I wonder if we will ever see >30'c days this summer.

    Based on other comments and doing a google search, is meant to have English and Japanese audio
