Rare for these to go down 50%
Some of the other Spice Tailor ones are also discounted, but this Classic Butter Chicken is just the best.

I like that one too, but have you noticed a change in the recipe? I feel like it used to be better.
Yep, they definitely changed the recipe and cheaped-out on what used to make it taste noticeably better.
well that sucks
Since they changed the recipe I've made it with lamb rather than chicken and cooked it through on a low heat for at least an hour. The lamb puts plenty of flavour back into it.
Yum, I like these.
Thanks OP
Rare for these to go down 50%
I feel they do at least once a month. In Vic.
Nice. They go down 30 to 40% every other month in NSW. But even then, the butter chicken is sometimes excluded.
they go half price in coles quite regularly. always stock up, good kits
Beware if you have nut allergies.
This contains cashews.
Why is this downvoted, common humour people!
The Woke brigade don't like humour….
@1st-Amendment: Oi mate, you got a permit signed in triplicate for that sense of humour?
Comedy-though's aren't allowed any more.
The Woke brigade don't like humour….
Classic case of ignorant, and obviously false, generalisation and word weaponisation
@[Deactivated]: You just demonstrated the point lol…
Watch out, Karen's about…
@1st-Amendment: Your comment was "humour"? Most of your comments need to be taken with a grain of salt I agree but there's a vast gap between that and actual humour. Not sure why the original comment attracted so many negs myself, but it's Ozbargain so no surprise. The list of people who upvoted you is telling, and not even vaguely surprising.
Personally I find all those "woke" SNL etc comperes very funny at times.
@[Deactivated]: Honestly can't tell if that post was a meme, a joke copy/pasta, or just unintentionally proving 1st-Amendment's point ?
@infinite: Not surprised. The list of voters for his comment tells me all I need to know really, but I'll play along. Do you actually think that only self-obsessed conservatives have a sense of humour or are you trying to make that another con mantra? Somehow I think being "woke" (even at the extreme end of that spectrum) might just be a better thing being ignorant and self-obsessed. Try reading the link, it might help, although I wouldn't put my house on it.
the daal kits are also half price. these are my favourite
Go to any Indian shop you might be surprised how cheaply you can make it in KG.
They're really good for the Indian curries. Not so much for the Asian ones (thai red curry)
fyi indians are asians
Downvoted for providing accurate information, I guess people prefer to remain ignorant.
Currymasters do the best Indian Butter Chicken.
Hint - They wholesale to Indian Restaurants. ;)
Thanks for the tip. Do you know where I can find a good madras?
Isn't it called Chennai?
Yea the city, but the dish names don't change just because India decided to change names. Madras Curry.
Where can you get the Currymasters one?
https://www.currymasters.com.au/
You can buy them from pretty much any Indian/Paki/Middle-Eastern grocery store. Heaps of the generic Asian grocers stock them, too.
Oh dang, a couple of clicks through that website and your daily transfer allowance is gone.
Don't think Coles/Woolies stock, where do you buy, Indian stores?
Some Colesworth do, in some of the larger stores. I do like to support independant stores where possible.
I bought a 1KG pack from Currymasters of Butter Chicken.
Yeah where?
edit: answered my question
Anyone have a suggestion for ready made naan to go with this? The Coles branded one I tried last time wasn't great
Visit any Indian store if you have access and the variety from ready made to frozen are numerous. Depends on what your tastes are.
Depends on what your tastes are.
I feel overwhelmed in Indian stores - there are so many different (flat)breads and the staff can't really help with what you have in your mind; the naming often seems to slightly vary too.
Not the greatest rule of thumb, but the more oily the bread, the less chance it tastes bad.
try haldirams naan thats my favorite
not quite the same, but aldi do a frozen roti paratha.
The Ashoka frozen garlic naan is amazing, I can get them in my local Coles. Microwave for 30 seconds to soften then pan fry with a bit of butter.
Frozen haldirams tandoori naan ( some Coles have it at the frozen section) or tandoori garlic /tandoori cheese naan head straight to the freezer section of Indian stores they’ll be bright orange colour.
Otherwise jasmine/basmati rice will do too
tried this (+ a few others in the market), but doesn't come close to what a real butter chicken tastes like. May be ok for the ones who haven't tried butter chicken from the sub-continent
I agree. I've tried this brand and they are all so very lackluster compared to the real thing unfortunately :(
You mean the UK?
Will give this a try. I make my own naan and buy the butter chicken from the shops. Will be interesting how these compares.
Bit off topic but any recommendations on a website with good authentic indian recipes? Meat or veggie is fine.
I recently found this channel which has some great content. Even if you don't end up cooking any of it, it's straight up food porn https://youtu.be/RKNogWbAivY
cheers!
Spice Tailor seems to be the best half made/pre-made curries out there - does anyone know any other brands that are just as good or better?
Nope. Spice Tailor is the best I've come across. I cook up the Korma for the family regularly and they love it. We got a Korma from a restaurant as an experiment and ate side by side and everyone preferred the Spice Tailor one.
Indian immigrant here, can confirm, they are the best amongst ready made sauces. I always modify it adding additional spices like chilli powder or garam masala as needed. Do try the korma curry sauce, it is a hard sauce to make from scratch and even we seldom do it at home.
They used to be half price in colesworth almost monthly, have noticed they’ve stretched it out to more like quarterly. I’ll stock up, cheers.
Packaging has changed to boxes.
Yep. They mention on the box that this change was due to COVID
Just mentioning it in case anyone is looking for that original distinctive packaging style.
They don't do the spinach one anymore - used to be my favourite! :(
i dont agree the fiery goan is so good in my opinion happy to pay full price as better than restuarant quality
They're only worth it at 50% off. Way too expensive for what you get if bought at full price.
That’s my opinion for virtually everything that is half price in catalogues. Why would you ever pay double is my way of thinking.
Awesome will stock up some, love their Thai green/red chicken curry ones.
Rare my arse. I bought a bunch only a couple of months ago at half price at WW.
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/the-spice-tailor-curry-…
Tons of times at half price.
I feel it's 4w cycle, as my kids cook one a week and I ran out recently. I will shop with Coles or Woolie's, as long as it's 1/2 price. could be up to 8w at just one provider.
wow this is the best…
I wonder why none of these are showing the discounted price on Pricehipster.
how cook with it?
Love the Fiery Goan Curry, will stock up
