          • @Roger Ramjet: No I haven't, but after googling and seeing the price… ouch….
Something to add to the list for when those lotto numbers finally come in :)

  • +13

Good to see the daily thread on the legality of scooters.

  • -2

    399 on kogan website.

  • +5

I have been riding a M365 since 2018. Done 2000ks. Experienced some issues with the folding mechanism, apart from that, so far no major issues with the scooter.

    • How is the battery 🔋 life now? Still gives you olayosh ramge after 2k kilometres?

      • +2

The battery is still ok. Obviously not as good as a new one. It drains a bit faster after 40% ish. I usually charge it when it goes below 50%. I can still do 15 ks in one go, no issues.
I had some issues with the folding mechanism. I had to buy some parts and modify them myself. My M365 is one of the early models. I'm assuming the new ones are a bit improved?

        • Awesome feedback. Thanks

  • +1

    Site down? Ozbargained?

    Ninja edit: Nvm. Works now

    • Down for me :(

      • IT guys are working on it as we speak.

Please try again in a while.

        • +1

may be that's why its down… ask them to stop the work.. ;p

  • Hey, just bought the scooter, any idea how long it will take to ship? (Brisbane)

    • +1

      Hey DrDogRespect,

It would take 2-3 business days for dispatch/ship.

      Cheers.

      • Thanks for the quick response :)

      • That's too quick, you'll get a fine

  • +2

Are these the same tyres as the Xiaomi Pro 2 that people say punctures easily and is a PITA to change tyres?

What are the differences between this and the Pro 2? Lower powered motor and smaller battery?

    • +1

Can confirm that changing tyres is a major PITA.

    • +2

I have the Pro 1 which has the same tyres. They are a pain to change but if you ride carefully and maintain the air pressure it isn't much of a problem.

You can (at least on my model) put 10 inch tyres on with minor modifications and they are much more durable and easier to change.

  • Do you take your scooter into shopping centres ?

    • +2

If you don't ride it (ie just drag it alongside you) then should be fine

      • +1

Some take it into Woolies/Coles. Put your basket on it.
What fits in basket will be ok for u to carry on your scooter trip home simple.

      • +1

I met stupid security who asked me not to shop in the centre because I brought scooter with me.

I didn’t ride it, but he’s adamant about no skateboard, no bicycle, no skateboard, no scooter too (but the picture on the entrance didn’t show any scooter and I know it’s forbidden if you riding on it).

Have no time arguing with people with no brain, so I just left the building.

Feel sorry for my regular shops there because I can’t spend money to them when I’m bringing my scooter to the market.

        • -2

Have no time arguing with people with no brain, so I just left the building.

He was thinking the exact same thing

    • +2

I see many people in Melbourne West using the Shopping centre trolleys as the actual scooters ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    • +1

I fold it up and throw it in a trolly, haven't had any issues.

With a hook on the stem you can carry 3 bags or so as long as you take the ride home gently.

  • -6

Imagine actually caring about what some obscure rarely enforced laws say….

    • +4

Maybe you can afford to risk a $1232 fine (SA) every time you go out but most people can't.

  • Ride on bike paths should be okay. But if you hoon around busy pedestrians etc then yeh

    • +1

True n just don't be a flop. I reg ride this to and from work with helmet

Just be safe n use Common sense.

Hopefully these are legal by April/may this year as I don't like the risk though got a bad knee so this comes in handy

  • Paid by osoko bank transfer. Hopefully it gets received before going out of stock.

  • -5

    • 30KM battery life

    So they are faulty batteries?

  • +4

    https://electricriders.org.au/petition

There you go guys make it legal, do your bit.

  • very tempting price but i already have an ebike and don't really know when i'd be using the scooter over the bike or a car :(

  • +1

Probably silly question, but is it worth of paying extra $200 for Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter Pro 2 over this model?

    • +2

Depends on range and hills. I have the M365 (1S is slightly upgraded dash, thicker brake pade, colour update, but same battery), in practice it lasted about 25km before I would recharge it and now 1y/1000km later I recharge it at around 20km (it goes for longer but you can tell it's struggling). My normal commute is only short so range is not an issue for me. It includes 2 short hills of 10-15% gradient. When the scooter is fully charged it can manage the 10% (you notice it slowing down though), and regardless of charge I kick-assist it up the 15% as it really starts to slow down/struggle. Since the 15% hill is only very short it is not a bother to me. There is an alternate route to work that this scooter definitely couldn't handle, mainly because the incline lasts for much longer and I don't want to kick it the whole way up. I think the Pro might be able to handle it. I weigh about 60kg.
Anyway TLDR if you don't have lots of hills and are not heavy this model is great!

      • Im out !

The Pro 2 has a Rider Age Limit of 16-50
        https://www.mi-store.com.au/xiaomi-mi-electric-scooter-pro-2

Unfortunately, I'm 54, (although I'm told I don't look it!), so it looks like the 1S is for me - No age limit specified…

      • Thanks buddy… I'm 90kg, so looks like Pro model is the one to go for…

        • if you're in QLD, Scooter Hut in the Valley let you try scooters out and there should be some hills nearby you can try them on to test it out

  • Yeah sure it’s illegal, tell me someone on ozbargaij who actually received a actual Fine? Seems to be no body but that only one guy on whirlpool, but he was a idiot, if these rules where enforced no body would be riding in Sydney, plenty of people ride it with no problems, heaps of people equivalent to those E bikes.

    • Nah, can do way more damage on an e-bike 😊
These Xiaomi scooters especially, anything more than 35kmh downhill will likely cook the mainboard thanks to KERS and the components not being able to cope with the sudden surge in electricity.

    • I used to ride it daily in the city before the pandemic. Never had issues. Obviously, if I see cops I usually get off the thing and walk it.

  • -1
  • They're definitely not legal in NSW, but I saw at least 4 different people using scooters in the Sydney CBD in a single day last weekend, so there's either a lot of confidence or a lot of ignorance regarding the rules and their lack of enforcement.

    • They’re also ridden absolutely everywhere on Newcastle foreshore last time I was there.

    • a lot of ignorance

I'm going to go with this option. :)

    • So you’re going to buy one?

  • My experience from someone with a Segway es4 in VIC: I ride to work and back every day for about 14 months, from Essendon to CBD, including past a police station and no ones ever given me a fine. I don’t think police care tbh.

  • I see these say load up to 100kg. I weigh about 130kg - can I still ride it? Will it just be slower?

    • +2

you may notice it will get progressively slower as you gain more weight by using one of these…. :-)

      • seems logical…

  • Anyone know the rider weight max? Asking for a friend who is just over 100kgs and could do with losing a few kilos.

    • +1

Found it. 100kgs. My friend needs to loose 4kgs. Probably by not getting a scooter.

      • +1

The manual ones are good exercise but you can snap them too. Ask me how I know

        • How do you know?

  • I come in here to an epic novel about illegal in xyz and here I am laughing in Brisbane having legally owned an escooter for 2 years. Since when are we the progressive state? haha

    • Cheers bud, already been posted.

  • How do these compare to the ninebot Segway ones?

  • any discount on the pro 2?

    • Hi kzsv,

It is currently already on special at $699 from RRP over $1K+

      • +1

I will jump in if you have $120 off the $699 for Pro 2

        • +1

Yes please, op if you could do further discount with the ozb code for the pro 2?

  • Really tempted to order but I hear that these air filled tyres get punctured really easily. Any feedback from long term users?

    • +5

I use slime (from big W) in both our scooters and it has been very good. We have gotten punctures where you could see the slime spitting out, kept riding and it self repairs. It's been a year and a half since and the tires still maintain good pressure.

  • Do you carry the Ninebot Max? Any deals?

  • FYI in Vic people say the police mostly ignore enforcing scooter regulations, but Victoria Police do have temporary operations and "blitzes" in certain areas including one that's operating now in Southbank:
    https://www.police.vic.gov.au/police-operation-improve-pedes…

targeting speeding cyclists, electric bike and scooter drivers… both bike and scooter riders, and pedestrians at a speed limit of 10km per hour… local police patrol the area at peak travel times to detect and deter speeding offences

Police will also be checking those using electric bikes and scooters to ensure their devices are in line with current regulations. This includes:
Scooters – the maximum power must not exceed 200 watts

  • Is this scooter exceeding 200 watts? no specs found so far on that

    • Yes it is over 200w and it's written in the specs.

  • What kind of helments do people recommend?

    • +1

These a great and are also a chick magnet…

I get a lot of girls looking at me smiling when I ride…

      • hahaha so unique !

    • skateboard-style helmet if you want more coverage; bike helmets are lighter and have better ventilation. you could even go full-face mtb-style if you wanted. personal preference, really.

  • Keen for an update on ninebot max pricing too

    • Here you go!

  • You know your state is absolutely backward when QUEENSLAND is able to legally (within rules) allowed to use electric scooters on footpaths (I’m a QLDer!)

    • -1

More like its banned so China cannot overtake and monitor our transport and routes. invading privacy.
      QLD doesn't matter apparently
