      I really prefer aa or AAA for these sort of devices.
      The other Xiaomi thermometers I have chew batteries, probably 3 or 4 cr2032 a year.

        Not sure which ones you have. There's custom firmware for some Xiaomi thermometers that improves battery life. I'm guessing I get at least 9 months from a battery, probably more, I have 5 of them and battery changes are uncommon.

    OP, is there anything available like this but with a remote thermometer module (or modules) that can be placed outdoors?

    Ideally this would also provide Bluetooth or network connectivity to a phone app - but this is only a secondary requirement.

    The battery cover looks very easy to remove, especially for kids. This introduces a risk of battery ingestion, since it uses a CR2032 battery.
