Philadelphia Caramilk Cream Cheese Spread 250g $1 (Was $4.70) (Online Only) @ Woolworths

190

Noticed this when searching for a different cheese. Works out at $4/kg.

I have never tried this product but the concept isn’t appealing to me.

This is an online only special. Maybe someone is doing their online shopping and has a dessert to make. Maybe you’ve tried this and think it’s delicious. Maybe you just want to live dangerously and give it a go.

Here’s a bonus recipe for a caramel cheesecake using this product https://www.philly.com.au/recipe/caramilk-cheesecake/

    That sounds bloody awful

It's for making cheesecake icing you noobs. Not dipping your Jatz into.

      • Still sounds horrible! Is caramilk a well-known food internationally or something? This push to have it everywhere lately is confusing me

To be fair I'm more of a Ritz guy myself

        • -1

Ritz made in China, Jatz made in Aus, supporting Aussie, and prefer the taste of Jatz Clix

      • You use it to make extra-sweet chilli philly, silly.

  • lol tried it, flavour is weak as - nothing like caramilk
    stock up for cheesecake!

And if you can't be bothered making cheesecake just spread some on a digestive and you have a 5 second mini cheesecake.

      • There's so many simple recipes for cheesecake, you can even buy the base pre-made. Some are even no bake.

        • +3

all require more effort than spread-on-a-digestive :P

          • @alebox: Not arguing against that, just saying a basic cheesecake is easy to make since I've made them myself

  • I think Woolys got burnt in these. They were stacked up at my local supermarket at Christmas time and kept getting reduced in price but nobody buying. They’ve probably got a warehouse full of the lard to get rid of.

      -Woolworths probably

    • People went nuts for the block, there was even a "shortage" and everything so it's kind of understandable they thought people would want to make caramilk cheesecake? I kinda read taste.com.au and they've pumped out a bunch of caramilk flavoured recipes over the years. Obviously they thought there was an appetite for that kind of thing too. Or maybe it's just a case of cadbury paying them $$ to advertise.

Honestly think caramilk is overrated, I don't like any cadbury chocolate blocks

  • Amazing how many people don't know what actually goes into a caramel (or any other) cheesecake.

  • there is sooooo much of this at my local, wtf do you even do with it? like people were making caramel cheesecake before the advent of this product, whats the point of it

    • Out of interest is it $1 in store as well?

      • ill check next time i go, there is just a fridge entirely devoted to this stuff and it is always full

        • Thanks! I never knew it existed and probably wouldn’t buy it normally. Although at $1 I’d probably give making a dessert with it a go. I suspect it’s a failed concept.

          • @morse: they are 1 dollar a tub i finally remembered to reply

  • There is no stock near me,
Does anyone know if coles will price match

    • I’ve never heard of coles or Woolworths price matching for specials or clearance items.

    • No, they don't have any price match policy either(stated in their FAQ somewhere?
