Is this similar to the one Bob Dylan played?

No, JV, you need to find a job

      • you need to find a job

        No I don't.

You also need a harmonica. :)

    • I am certain someone here bought last year's model, they might say how terrible they are, but for $100.. it's decent

  • +2

    This or this one ?:)

  • +3

"Basswood back and sides" basically, you get what you pay for.

But still a good choice for beginners.

    • Agree bro!

      • hmm sorta. A beginner might be better off with something smaller (000 body) with a lower action, and thinner neck. Sigma? Yamaha?
I've got an older version of this aldi guitar, and it sounds quite fine, but its not that easy to play. I've been playing for a long time so I work around the difficult to play guitar. I really should upgrade…

        • +5

I started witha basic guitar a few years ago, thick neck, HIGH action, always out of tune, and although i do recognise that it makes it easier when you move to a proper guitar as it feels like you were training with weights on top of you, I will not make my kids go through that if they decide to pick up the guitar one day. Doesn't mean i will pay $2,500 for a guitar, but maybe spending a little extra for a good used guitar will be much better.

dammit, just bought a Yamaha C40 for my son to learn on.

oh well. at least its supposed to be a good unit.

    • +6

I'm sure the Yammy is a far better investment, and your son will enjoy learning with it far more than this one

  • +3

Apparently these are terrible. You can get a good Fender or Yamaha acoustic bundle for $250-$350 and I think if you are serious about learning that is a much better bet. Look at Fender CD60S and Yamaha FG800 if you are interested, those are two of the top recommended beginner guitars.

    • The Yamaha FG800 is a good choice. Got one for my partner at Christmas.. Great sounding unit for the money! Each to their own on a budget of course, but save a little more and buy a very well reviewed guitar and you cant go wrong (unless you literally suck at playing guitar, bonus is the FG800 will keep some value and when you do sell it you'll recoup some of the investment)..

    • What about Artist Guitars? I bought electric bass guitar and an amp for $250. They are quite good.

  • +7

Don't forget to also pick up the chainsaw they are selling at the same time so you can chop the guitar up when you realise just how much you suck at playing guitar.

  • You can get this type of stuff delivered, any time

  • Get a Valencia nylon guitar if you want a beginner to learn. Its cheap but still capable. Got one off gumtree for $20, sounded pro after proper setup..

  • I would highly recommend getting a starter guitar off Artist Guitars instead, they have guitars near the $100 price range that will be much higher quality than this one and you get a 3 year warranty

    • +1

Yes, saw a lot of positive reviews, just bought the TC59 in their bargain bin before you mentioned this.

      • +2

Nice, I just got one of those in the last month as well. The TC59 utterly blows my Epiphone SG I got as my starter guitar away in terms of build quality and playability. Not to mention the warranty and that it came with usable strings. And the TC59 was a fair bit cheaper than the Epiphone too.

        • +2

I have a TC59 in locum, it is quite bulky otherwise I would say it is probably one of the best electric guitar under $300, looks great, great finishes, the Pickups is good. Otherwise people should have a look at SX guitars as well, their Strat is at $200 in the stores.

          • @Yaren24: I'll have to check them out, I've yet to add a Strat to my collection

        • +1

Wow that's good to hear, I've been eyeing on Epiphone SG VE too and glad that I bought the TC59, don't want to spend too much on first electric guitar so hopefully this is good enough. Just paired it with the Positive Grid Spark Amp, can't wait to play it.

          • +1

@johnyBgood: TC59 is good for the budegt conscious people, I think you will like its versatility as it has coil split, split 2 humbuckers to single coils is nice. Most likely you will receive a guitar that is quite heavy, but its all good, you will get used to it. bit nicer than the epiphone you mentioned

          • @johnyBgood: Yeah the Epiphone SG VE is the exact model I started with and I wish I started with the TC59, it is a much better guitar. Only concern is as Yaren mentioned the TC59 is damn heavy, it makes my other guitars feel like hollow plastic when I pick them up after using the TC59. But it's not really an issue if you're playing while sitting anyway

        • I have two Ltd vipers and they are a decent alternative to epiphobe sgs.

          • @f23lda: Yeah absolutely, if you want SG style I don't think you can go wrong with an LTD one

            • @The Candyman: Plenty of good options for Strats, the main reason I am recommending is because I feel the build quality is higher in SX guitars compared to Squier, literally you are paying $150 more on Squiers/Epiphone based on brands, not quality based unfortunately. LTD viper is good, but it would be bit more over budget for beginers, their ltd 50s to 200s is quite entry, you won't get too much out of them til reach 300 - 400 series.

              • @Yaren24: Yep you definitely end up paying mainly for the brand name with them. Unfortunately though as a total beginner it's completely overwhelming trying to figure out what to buy and when you google beginner guitars you always end up finding Epiphones and Squiers, which is how I ended up with my sub-par SG lol

                • @The Candyman: Don't worry, we all done the same thing, you will gain experience gradually, there are differences between the 2? basically the better will make it learning bit easier, learning guitar is already hard as it is, if your guitar doesn't stay in tune, bad action, will put newbies into frustrations, I was one of them before.

  • Dropped into Aldi Vic this morning and they said they didn’t get any guitars delivered for today’s sale. Lady was very vague and didn’t know when they’d arrive. Anyone have any info on delivery?

    • +1
