Just scored a free $10 Costco Shop Gift Card by turning on Auto Renewal and showing the Membership Counter at Costco. The lady at the counter said this should be available at every warehouse in Australia. If you don't want auto renewal kept on you can simply turn it off after receiving your free gift card. Can only be redeemed once as they scan your membership card when handing over the free gift card.
You can, I did last year.
Used the membership for 340 odd days, got the 10 bucks about 6 months in, then cancelled for full refund 340 odd in, no fuss.
Do they ban you from signing up again?
I cancelled because it was no use to me. I only kept it as long as I did because every now and then I'd get one of their roast chooks and a pizza when in Ringwood.
Haven't signed back up is the point. But you should be right. The other day I was in there, first time since early September and I scanned a screenshot of my old account (bc now they have poopoo scanners) and they were like nah it's dead and I'm like I know and I walked through to the signup then walked right ahead and got the Pepsi, hot dog, and pizza I came for and left. But they scanned me and were fine with me resigning up
@TheDukeOfNukem: I've never been stopped and checked trying to enter to buy a hot dog/pizza before, just walk past with authority and not a single person bats an eye.
Pretty easy to just say you're going to sign up for a membership, walk in, then go straight to the food court or walk in through the counters. If anyone stops you just say you need to use the toilet first before signing up.
They don't let you walk through the exit anymore, you have to go into the signup line. Yes you could sit in the line for a while then escape to the food court but thats a bit much
One lady made me walk the entire way when I was about 10 metres away from the toilet. I told her she might need to call for a mop and bucket near the entrance if she made me walk back.

I've found that in the past, the auto renewal deal can vary from bags to a case of water… This is one of the better ones

pretty sure they scan your card before giving you the voucher, so you wont be able to claim again with the same membership card.
Can join and cancel unlimited times under 1 year, they happy do do this for you.

I believe if you cancel a membership and are refunded then you need to wait 12 months before you can join again. So no would be the answer to your question 😁
Yeah was at some home conference and their offer was $20 coupon for "renewing". Spoke to Costco staff later and it was supposed to only be for new sign ups. Used with no issues.

Last time, they discovered that I had already received a gift from the previous year's auto-renew promo. As a result, they denied me the bonus. Unsure will this time be the same
or .. you can buy a few gift cards and cancel your costco membership and save $60 per year, and still go to costco when you need to
with your $25 gift card, even if your groceries are $300, you just pay the difference in card or cash and all set
and if you ever run out of gift cards, hopefully you have a friend that has a membership to buy you more
This is what I USED to do, but recently after they have switched to scanning your membership cards on entry, they ask you to go join the queue and get a temporary membership slip. Sometimes these lines can be 10-15 mins wait.

Why does Costo need to have all your personal details, name, surname, address, dob, mobile number, email address, copy/scan of your photo id, and a photo of you taken in store after presenting your photo id, just to let you shop in their store?
And why do people happily give away all their details just to shop there?
Is this for personal memberships or does it apply to business memberships as well?

Doubt it. Even though you've got 2 separate membership cards, both members share the same purchase history, so they could easily see that the offer had been redeemed already

I got $10 voucher from the membership desk and got a free lecture on this is only the once off offer, and if there are any further offers that I will not get those offers, blah…. I was about to say that Mate, it is only $10, you can keep it. It was not what was delivered, but now it was delivered.
Yeah some of the staff at Costco are like that.
My brother claimed the price difference because it went on special, and the lady had such an attitude as if he had kicked her dog, or literally taken the difference out of her purse.
After the refund was processed, I made the comment "this didn't come out of your personal bank account did it?"
