I have been shopping for a RTX 3070 and found this one at $979. A lot cheaper than the big brands.

Could have bought a 3070 for $900 at the start of the year. Suppliers did a price jack.
I'm still working on my time machine 😪
I bit the bullet for a leadtek 3070 or less than $1k. Spewing cos I could have gotten a inno3d for $900 but avoided that since they were $800ish.
I've been mining to make up the lost money :/
@ln28909: There are situations where you may want to spend thousands to improve your rack. This isn't one of them.
Could have also bought a 3080 in September for $1139 🙃
Coulda woulda shoulda
You could have, and you would probably still be waiting for them like most people are.
@xordis: I did and I got it 3 months ago..
@BargainKen: is the flex really necessary? I mean I bought 3080 for $998 but I didn't say nothing 🙃
@jamessong: C'mon you know you wanna 👹
@jamessong: nice flex
But is it in stock?
it says it is
The item is brand new and in-stock in the Mighty Ape warehouse. The item will ship within the timeframe shown below.

Sheesh. If you're going to comment one word, at least make sure you capitalize it correctly :)

How does the 3070 get away with 8GB of RAM in a world rapidly moving towards 4k (non competitive) gaming?
So you buy the next years model
4k dlss quality, easy, the card can't do 4k natively anyway
a world rapidly moving towards 4k (non competitive) gaming?
People have been saying this since 2012. I remember people asked the same thing when the 780 had 3GB of VRAM. Almost 10 years later, hardly anybody is on 4K. Higher quality textures, higher refresh rates…etc. have all been much more central than 4K.
If you want more VRAM, get the 6800 with 16GB. The option exists.
The difference is 4k monitors weren't commonplace for gaming back then.
I mean they still aren't now, but 1440p is now the standard for new high end monitors, and 4k monitors you might actually want to buy will come out this year/next year.
Most people are on 1080p monitors according to steam stats
I think 1440p will still be the sweet-spot for a few more years (at least for the usable life of the 3070) for gaming. 4K60 is good for work because of the increased real estate, but 1440p 144Hz (or similar) is still a far better gaming experience than 4K60.
I agree that some 4K high refresh monitors may be coming, but I can't see a space for them yet given that even the highest end GPUs won't be able to push enough frames to make them a viable option.
@p1 ama: 1440p Wide is so awesome for flight Sims
Meanwhile linux flexing that 8k gaming..
I paid about $580 for a Samsung 4k 28in monitor in 2012 it's still going strong but I actually upgraded to a Samsung G7 Odyssey 32in just recently. The drop to 1440p is so much more worth it to game at 120fps plus and the Odyssey constantly sits around 200fps in most titles.
The problem I always had with 4k is that no matter how old the monitor was it would always push graphics cards to their limits as games kept getting more and more detailed. Even today's 3080/3090 will start to bog down with the next generation of games. 4k 60fps is not as great as 1440p 120fps in my opinion.
Consoles Are Always the push. Sure the PC are always onto it earlier and whatever, but consoles make features mainstream. Think about features like direct storage which are now coming to pc as a result of consoles, even though PCs have had ssds for ages that could have benefited from a feature like that. As such, it is not unreasnoble to suspect that 4k 60 will be the next hit, giving how much the ps5 and xbox advertise it. Furthermore, mainstream buyers seem to like "4k" as a buzz word of sorts.
Vram? I've not seen any game push my 2080 with 8 in this area at 3440x1440.

90% playing on 1080p and below1440p is literally the sweetest spot for gaming right now - not sure what your issue is though
What have you been smoking?
@lawyerz: Something like 85% running 1080p. Not quite 90%. Presumably some of those are doing that on 1440p monitors. So blurrier.
tHe hUmAn eYe CaNt sEe MoRe tHaN 320x240p
I have a 27" 120 Hz 4K monitor, you can definitely tell a difference between 1080p and 1440p and 4K even at 27 inches.
I do however have some regret, like I look back on it and if I waited a bit longer I could have gotten a 1440p 240 Hz monitor and honestly that is the sweet spot for competitive and non-competitive games.
But 4K is a big upgrade and I can run plenty of games at high settings. DLSS also truly made my monitor more accessible at Ultra settings with single-player graphically intensive games. If I could have a 4K 240 Hz monitor I would get one 100%. It's honestly just worth the resolution to get 4K and I think you're really conned out of 4K with something like a 75" TV, since you're so far away the pixels just sort of melt into one another and you don't really get that 'sharp' detail feeling like on a monitor, at least I don't. But everyone's different I suppose. I've had friends tell me their 4K TV was a big upgrade and I believe them, I mean they'd know based off the content they watch and how far they sit from their TV, or perhaps their eyes are just better than mine. But I don't think you're necessarily "conned" by buying a 1440p monitor, it's a definite upgrade over 1080p.
@KARMAAA: Whether or not you can see the difference in a static image, does it really matter to you mid game?
I repeat: When I eventually upgrade it'll be to 4k, and I'll use integer scaling.1080p is fine for me for now. Apparently that's worth 6 downvotes.
Look, enjoy your system no matter what you're using, even if you're doing 1080p on a 1440p. But if you're telling me no one has ever bought a 1440p monitor and been underwhelmed or used it at 1080p, I call BS.
@syousef: In CS:GO it helps me headshot people way easier from Dust 2 pit onto A site. So yes, it does matter mid game. I can just see much more detail. On Warzone too, I can see people moving in windows and stuff from a long distance. You just have to try it I guess man.
@syousef: I don't know why I bother. The anon downvotes are irritating. I'll shout in the shower if I want to speak where no one will listen.
@KARMAAA: I don't think there's even a connection that could drive 4k 240hz that exists right now.
Even 4k 120hz is rough, display port manages 4k144hz through chroma subsampling which hurts image quality, HDMI 2.1 does 4k120 without chroma subsampling weirdness, but HDMI 2.1 monitors aren't for sale yet, only TV's
@[Deactivated]: Yeah I know that, but I wish it could be done, it'd be like my dream monitor, it was more of a hypothetical, rather than a reality or something I think I could buy. Anyways, the only reason I even brought up 240Hz at 4K is that 120Hz just isn't as good as 144hz and definitely 240Hz is an different feeling over 144hz. It more of a genie wish, if you get what I mean.
I plugged my 24inch 144hz AOC 1080p monitor in to see the difference from my 27 inch acer predator 1440p monitor and i could actually see the pixels on the screen in game. I felt disgusted with the old monitor and cant believe i used to game on that piece of shit.
There really is a difference.
@Jugganautx: I'm seeing a lot of 1440p monitors being sold and the majority on steam still using 1080p - barely a >2% NEGATIVE change on Steam for people using 1440p. So either a lot of people buying 1080p and sticking with it like I am, or a lot of people buying 1440p then gaming at 1080p. Or both. Downvote all you like, you're just shooting the messenger.
@syousef: when I was a pleb I too was gaming on 24 inch 1080 p peasant mode but now that I have a job I can afford 240 hz 32 inches of goodnes at 1440 p and I aint going back or forward ( to 4k )
@syousef: Steam HW Stats are pretty bad metrics for actual desktop users, mainly because it also accounts for every laptop that takes the survey, which a lot of laptops are either 1080p or some crap resolution like 1366x768. In fact if you have a look at the dropdown, the second most popular resolution is 1366x768 with 8.32% share.
A lot of net cafes also use 1080p monitors because they're cheap and you don't need crazy hardware to run games at 1080p with high/ultra settings, a 1070 or 1660 SUPER will run most games just fine at 1080p, or a cheap RTX 2060. But that wouldn't really reflect what an individual would purchase or use for their own gaming setups at home if they could buy a monitor for their own PC, rather than play at a Netcafe in China or Thailand or Vietnam.
I'm not trying to totally discount Steam Hardware Survey, it has a use, but it doesn't exactly tell you what people are using for Desktops only and you have to keep that in mind. My own laptop that I play games on occasionally has a GeForce 740m and a 1080p display. Not exactly a gaming machine, it was more for typing essays, but I would've used Steam on it to play a few games of CS:GO and I do recall at least once doing the survey through it just to see how my laptop stacked up at the time.@KARMAAA: I don't think your argument adequately explains an overall decrease in 1440p numbers despite the sale of many 1440p monitors. It isn't as if there were no laptops bought just prior to August. In any case it doesn't matter if it's a gaming machine or not. This tells you more games were played at 1080p in December than in August last year. CS:GO is the fringe use case, not the typical one. E-Sports gamers are a tiny fraction. The lack of availability and pricing of graphics cards can't be helping the situation. I think the most likely explanation is that even most of those who buy the higher end monitors are finding their graphics card isn't up to the task, and falling back to a blurry 1080p.
Personally I would much rather play 1080p on 1080p, than a 1440p monitor. And I find higher resolutions cause eye strain or cause me to hunch over more, especially for browsing and office tasks.
This tells you more games were played at 1080p in December than in August last year.
I don't think you know what the Steam Hardware Survey is or what it does. It just takes your highest resolution available to your monitor, or your monitor's native resolution. You could have a completely terrible machine not capable of playing games at 1080p, but Steam HW Survey will say your resolution is 1080p because you use it on your desktop.
CS:GO is the fringe use case, not the typical one. E-Sports gamers are a tiny fraction.
CS:GO is the most popular game on steam with over a million concurrent players daily. In fact, out of the top 10 games played on Steam at any one time, 5 of them are eSports games. I hardly call that a "tiny fraction". https://store.steampowered.com/stats/Steam-Game-and-Player-S…
I think the most likely explanation is that even most of those who buy the higher end monitors are finding their graphics card isn't up to the task, and falling back to a blurry 1080p.
1440p isn't a hard resolution to push at all, especially in eSports titles, which as I've shown is about half of the games people are playing on Steam. It's really simple, you just don't know a single thing about what you're talking about and thats why you were downvoted. Good luck though trying to convince people of your ideas, rather than the facts at hand which people have tried to outline to you. I'm done talking to you because you just simply don't want to listen to what I and many others have pointed out to you.
@KARMAAA: And yet, penetration for 1440p remains below 85% and is decreasing. I don't need to convince anyone of anything. The facts are what they are. And at the end of the day each person will do what's best for them.
The point about CS:GO is interesting. I'll give you that. I hadn't kept up with which was the most popular game. So thanks for bringing me up to date.
Steam Hardware survey takes into account Cybercafes/businesses that also opt in to the survey, where for budget reasons they'd all be 1080p monitors.
The data is diluted. It also doesnt take into trends which is where sales data probably would show a much more accurate picture that avg gaming consumer would be moving towards 1440p/ultrawides.
Correct. I tried to point that out to him, but he doesn't understand. He thinks also that Steam HW survey understands what resolution people select in games, but it just takes your monitor's native resolution on desktop as an estimate.
How long this will get sold out?
Very soon, since there's no buy limit
I know a few people that were planning to bulk buy at $1100 for a 3070
You dont need to, gumtree and fb have plenty 3070 under 1.1k, brand new.
Much easier to buy in bulk like this rather than try to find a bargain 1 at a time on gumtree, this card is like $8 a day already
I was at a PC store picking up a GPU earlier, and in the 5 mins I was waiting 2 people called wanting to buy 10 or more mid-range cards, so miners are definitely looking to buy GPU's again.
amazon same price + del.
Link? Can't find it, probably sold out already?
Shows up as unavailable for me (Brisbane) maybe available in other states?
@inaudable: It's via MightApe on Amazon so if it's sold out on the mightyape website it'll be sold out on Amazon too
Hopefully they have at least a palit of these so they don't sell out too quickly
Thanks, finally grabbed one.
Not a bad price for a good 3 fan 3070. This model reviewed quite well. Much better than the Zotax/ASUS twin fan garbage you find at ~$1000
https://appuals.com/palit-gaming-pro-geforce-rtx-3070-review…
Yes there is a comparison video on YT.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9N4_dMHpu1IAnd you can see it is rated well above some other brands!
I am happy with this except no RGB / light on the shroud.
Wow thanks mate! I just did an impulse purchase!
I recently bought a brand new RTX 2060 and now used RTX 2060s!
Need to sell em off! LOL.
My 550w PSU cannot handle this I am sure :(
In any case, this will be one of the cheapest RTX 3070 deal in the next 1-3 months I am sure.
so you have more money then sense - nice
Heard the supply situation won’t get better till next year
So lucky I decided to buy the xc3 ultra for 949. Now everything is price jacked and not available due to stupid hoarding by miners.
Lucky you. This situation will not go away!
2020, the year that keeps on giving
This one is comparable to XC3 ultra and only $30 more than what you paid. Not bad tbh, dare I say maybe the supply issues seem to be easing off the 3070s and the AMD cards.
The 3060ti has been totally killed by miners though, since it hashes at the same rate at the 3070 miners are willing to pay 3070 prices for 3060ti's. Combine that with NVIDIA's already inflated 3060ti price in Australia.
3080's also seem nonexistent
I got xc3 ultra 999 from PLE yesterday. Delivery in 4 days. Should I cancel the order and get this one instead?
its out of stock now anyway just keep the PLE one. had stock here and there but i see now theres no ETA =/
Same boat. Initially paid $1169 for Aorus Master due to FOMO, then decided to return and got XC3 ultra instead, couldn't justify the $220 difference
i bought that for 959, still okay given the price jacking everywhere - good card so far, 3440x1440p games run smooth.
Again do you think my 550W bronze PSU will handle it. I have Ryzen 3700x (65 TDP) with stock cooler and run just games like CS:GO for now.
Yes
100% okay if running at stock, maybe even be fine with an OC
Do you really need 3070 for your CS:GO?
It's a much more pleasant experience to play cs go at 1440p with a 2080 ti than a 2060 super from my experience
I have a 1080p monitor with 165 hz…lol
Will need to upgrade.
lmao. I know mate!
Thats the game I play now. I do have a good Steam and Epic game library but thats the game I end up playing :)
Now ur comment is making me rethink this.
oos
Wow I put in my order just in time.
I almost bought 3060ti for a similar price. Thanks OP Grabbed one.
Sorry, this product is not currently available to order
Damn same looks like too slow by just a few minutes
Looks available in their Amazon page
Good deal, but missed… I think I'm just going to pretend the 30 series cards were never released and revisit trying to purchase one 6 months or so.
isnt that all tech releases
I was in the same boat and kept missing all the deals and today happened to snag this.
Thats a good approach but keep an eye out and you might get lucky.
Never heard of that Brand before, made in same factory as PNY and Galax apparently
Palit predates brands like Galax by a long way. I remember having a Palit branded Riva TNT2
Palit are the parent company of Galax. But yes, Palit is an old Taiwanese brand that's been around a while.
Remember the good ol' days https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566682
Wow
First comment " I'm gonna wait until black friday"
Lol
He forgot to mention black friday 2021.
