Hopefully this fits Grand Theft Auto 5

    • +1

That would depend on how many mods you've got. Maybe wait for a 20tb version.

How do these drives go temperature wise in use in that case?

Some other drives like this I have can hit 50++ degrees when filling them up. I often put a fan in them to cool them down.

    • +1

Pretty toasty, heavy writes+hot room got mine to 60*C

Idle, its about 15*C above ambient

    • How effective was your cooling setup? I take that you've shucked yours?

Was looking for fans for my drives. Want some suggestions on what fans to get

      • +1

I do not have this drive but others I have in these plastic cases with no fans easily overheat. I am discussing unshucked drives.

That is why I asked about this one.

    Been this price for ages

There's two product pages for this drive. Which is why camels has misled you. You've been looking at the historically more expensive one.

It's the Amazon US one vs the Amazon UK one, for anyone confused about the 'two listings'.

    thanks, poster.
    I got one.
Always have map out drive purchases as they generally have a flow on effect to my NAS'es.
This will replace an external 12TB USB backup drive, which will be shucked to replace an 8TB parity drive in NAS, which will replace a 4TB Data, which will probably be retired.

BUT, 16TB has about 3 days of stress tests first :D

    • +1

      Curious how you retire?
I generally use older drives for transient data, happy to take if off your hands if it's accumulating pending sectors like crazy!

      • +1

depends if it soft or hard retired.
if soft, it goes in cupboard for exactly as you've mentioned.
if hard, it gets zeroed and sold.

        • Mine mostly go into unassigned devices for temp storage.

  • Are these the current sweet spot for those building a ~50TB plex server?

  • +4

This isn't exactly a deal. It's been this price for ages. Have a look at camel and you'll find that it has been below $400 before.

Fail… It was not this price for ages.
      https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B088S9PWNM

I noted that it had been cheaper before, but that doesn't mean it's not a deal now. Prices don't always revert back to the low levels seen before. Everything was cheaper in 1960, good luck buying petrol at 15c a litre any time soon.

OP should have this in the original post

As noted, this is a regular price.

Wake me when its below $400 - I want a few!
