  • How does this compare to the Aldi one?

FYI "Air Fryer" is just clever marketing for a small convection oven. It does nothing your wall oven can't.

my wall oven doesn't have a fan and can't make a batch of chips or nuggets in 10 minutes without preheating time.

you should buy one for yourself, they're not that expensive.

I'm likely older than you (I consider myself an old fart) I make those meals on occasion for my kids. Chicken breast comes out really good too, even steaks. It's definitely not my go-to for gourmet cooking though.

Again, your wall oven won't cook as fast as the air fryer, it's really not a good comparison. It's pretty obvious you don't own an air fryer but are somehow the expert on them.

          • @TEER3X: Air fryer can be quicker/easier for some things.
I've used them but unfortunately don't have the spare bench/cupboard space here. (Too many gadgets!)

Just wanted people to know that you can "air fry" if needed in a normal fan-forced oven.

            • @bargaino: Fair point, I agree that's their biggest drawback.

My favourite cooking device is a pressure cooker (especially good to make easy risotto). I believe some brands have a built in air fryer, not sure how good they'd work.

              • @TEER3X: Combo pressure cookers with airfry sounds great -you could do a whole roast chook in 30 minute, cook then crisp without needing to transfer to hot oven.

I thought the same until my wife bought one now I rarely ever use the oven. We've gained time and saved money by not running the big beast. Has also replaced a lot of the frying pan duties. Total game changer.

Same here I initially didn't want one. Biggest game changer so far is not needing to use the full size oven over summer, and with the airfryer I can knock out a better quality roast chick in almost half the time.

Agree. We used to grill salmon a lot on the stove and now we just throw it in the air fryer and it comes out great.

I can't recommend this one as it just doesn't get hot enough for chips.

    This one is great though

I just got this 8.2l last week. Good so far, temp goes up to 200deg, same spec as this no?

Have you tried them both? I have only tried the one OP has posted (my uncle has got it) and chips came out perfect.
What do you mean it doesn’t get hot enough for chips?
Maybe you got a faulty device? If it can’t get hot
enough for chips it won’t get hot enough for most of the recipes

Probably loading up too many chips?

The Teflon coating (carcinogenic) is peeling off the basket in our Kogan Air Fryer. We now have to line the basket with baking paper each time we use it. Good product apart from the cheaparse coating on the basket.

    • Is it seriously worth the health of you and your family if the Teflon is coming off?
If the item isn't under warranty, throw it out and get a new one - the long term health impacts are more deadly and costly.

“Since 2013, all Teflon-branded products are PFOA-free. Though there is some research that suggests a link between PFOA and cancer, there's no proven link between Teflon and cancer.“

PFOA (if present) is released at high temperatures, I doubt the baking paper will protect you

same thing happened to mine, bought in mid/late 2019.

did you use cooking spray (like I did), apparently that's a big no-no. that probably caused my issues, but I think if food gets stuck, then that could also peel off the coating over time.

even though it says dishwasher safe, I only hand washed.

hesitant to buy this brand again.

Sincere thanks for the very interesting info/feedback guys.

    • This is a very late reply, but how long had you had the air fryer before this started happening?
