We, NetPlus have the Motorola Xoom 32Gb 3G for $369 + $6 post. See http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60366

    • Well, I went shopping today at JB, Hardly Normal and VideoPro just because they were next to HN.

The guy sales pitching at JB said the Xoom's are lower performance than the other tablets (Acer, Sony, Asus); I think he highlighted the CPU. They were on the shelf for $399 today and I asked for a better price on them, he offered $370. WiFi only though. Maybe I got jipped and should of went for the Motorola Xoom for $370; but I didnt research specs and just brought the Motorola AT100 from VideoPro with perception the Xoom had lower hardwarer specs.

      <edit>
It seems the only difference I can see is the inputs are better and it has a IPS-LCD (better viewing angle/less power consumption - although the battery life is shorter anyway?), the XOOM a TFT-LCD display. They guy at JB was adament that the Xoom was a poorer performing tablet than the others. Let me know if you can support his claim so I dont feel jipped ;P

  • Stay the hell away from Toshiba. Toshiba took forever and many owners took their units in to the service centre, for the 3.1 upgrade.

I gladly sold mine a while ago.

If you need 3G go for the Samsung, Motorola, or Acer. If not, then the Asus Transformer. If you want a bulky, rubbery, plasticky POS, then by all means by the Toshiba.

P.S. I've owned them all. I don't care what Toshiba list teh screen spec. as, out of the Acer, Asus, Motorola, and Toshiba, the AT100 was the worst. It took me 3 goes to find an AT100 without a deal pixel. Something not right with their QA, or just like their software support, they don't care.

As for some guy @ JB spewing sales BS, all four units seem equal in terms of performance.

The 32GB 3G Motorola Xoom, inc. free delivery from DWI is a much better deal. Now that they are owned by Google, should mean faster OS release updates for the Xoom.

      Thanks for the feedback.

Wish I made the choice for the Motorola Xoom.

Goes to show never trust anyone with a commission interest.

Ill still leave this deal up though, because it is the best price around for a pickup AT100

  • Is this AT100 the third generation Toshiba tablet? The third Gen is a thinner tablet, its hard tho tell from the pics.

    • I was aware there were a few variations of the AT100. The HN was a AT100/101 . The JB was a AT100/105 i think, I asked VideoPro what theirs was, they didn't know and we had a look at the packaging. The model code was ambiguous, I concluded by the number arrangement that it was a 101.

I presume that the variations of the model would be changes to the software (ie. version of Android) thus I didn't consider it a big deal as its non-physical. Have you got a link that revisions of this model changed the size of the product?

      • The numbers at the end often refer to colour, but it does not appear to be the case for the AT100.

Anyway, the reason why I ask is that the 3rd generation tablet by Toshiba was recently announced and its a much thinner model, the thinnest tablet on the market as far as i am aware. If these tablets are the 2nd generation from last year they maybe selling for a low price and may continue falling to make room for the new tablet which has not seen much in the way of announcements, especially in Australia. Australia never got stock of the disastrous first gen that was similar in success to the HP tablet.

The third generation tablet looks like its worth checking out. But it appears Australia may have only seen the second gen tablet.
