What if we have had this card in the past…
What if we have currently other citi credit card…
Can we get cheque to self for the balance transfer?.

  • +1

Do they still offer pay to cheque for balance transfers?

    • Will be a good deal and apply for sure!

    • Unfortunately, Citi discontinued the 'cheque to self' in October 2019.

      • What if i held a kogan CC in the last 6 months?

  • +1

Its an ok offer if anyone is game enough to apply. They are notorious for not approving even if u have good credit score, good income, has employment history, no debt and didn't churn.

    • Got approved for my Qantas card with them last year and no dramas with them. Had to ring once to get them to change to proper name to credit my FF points, but apart from that, smooth sailing.

Have heard of plenty of bad experiences though, so I could be one of the lucky ones

    • Just applied and approved in a few hours, quick no fuss process

  • I cancelled this Citi rewards card last December after I got the rewards (75k flybuy + $100 Kmart) , I’m not sure if I’ll still be eligible.

    • -1

You should be. I cancelled mine in October and applied for the Kogan cc in January which is Citibank as well and got approved.

  • What if you "earn" over $35K on Centrelink (carer pension + others)? My credit score is 790.

    • +4

      Instant rejection.

  • Not a good look when you follow the link:

    "Oops…
Something's had a bit of a meltdown - we're busy getting finder back for you ASAP.

While we clean up, check out Facebook for our latest updates or to ask one of our experts a question."

    • -1

We apologise for the inconvenience of our site time-out. The link is back up and working, and this type of error does not affect applications.

  • Can these points be converted into air miles?

    • +1

      Found it -

      Velocity
      2.5 Citi Rewards = 1 Velocity Point

      Singapore Airlines
      Krisflyer
      3 Citi Rewards = 1 KrisFlyer Mile

      • So essentially 36,000 Velocity or 30,000 krisflyer miles. Not a great bonus offer if that's what you're after.

  • Does this have price protection insurance

    • It has a Guaranteed Pricing Scheme, yes. Complete details can be found in the Citi PDS

      This is what's covered:

      Guaranteed Pricing Scheme
      WHAT WE COVER

If within sixty (60) consecutive days of you charging the full purchase price of a covered item that you purchase from a physical store, to your card account:
      a) you receive a printed catalogue from a store with twenty five (25) kilometres of the store where you made your original purchase; and
      b) the catalogue advertises the covered item for a price more than seventy five dollars ($75) less than the price you charged to your card account for the covered item you purchased,

then we will reimburse you up to the amount specified in Part C – Tables of Benefits – Guaranteed Pricing Scheme for the difference in price between the price of the covered item charged to your card account and the cheaper advertised price of the item in the printed catalogue you received, provided:
      c) the cheaper item is new, the same model number and year and produced by the same manufacturer as the covered item you purchased and charged to your card account; and
      d) the catalogue advertising the cheaper item was printed after the covered item you purchased was charged to your card account.

      And you're covered:

Up to a maximum total limit of $500 any one covered item subject to the advertised covered item being priced at least $75 less than the covered item you purchased.

      • so it has to be a printed physical catalogue from physical store purchases only?

  • wow website crash? ozbargained!

edit: back up - submitted thanks for this!

  • +1

    Additional cardholder fee: $90. Wow!

  • I got pre-approved but then when I went on last screen to submit documents, it returned an error. No application reference was displayed and no email has been received from Citi.

I hope this is not a waste of credit check. Bloody useless citi

    • Same here.

      • Update

I received a call for verification and got approved after 2 hours. The card is already appearing in my internet banking.

        • Without submitting documents?

          • @Unacceptable: Sorry forgot to mention that I received an email in the morning to submit documents which I did immdiately.

I was asked for proof of income and employement so gave them latest payslip and employment letter.

            • @Ash-Say: Same as you I just got approved. Very smooth process, impressive.

  • can we have list of "eligible purchases" please…..

    • Eligible purchases include most of your everyday spending: groceries, petrol, travel, retail, etc.

Purchases that are not considering 'eligible' include (but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business, payments to other Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Points and government related transactions.

You can see the full definition of 'Eligible Purchase' in the Terms & Conditions here: https://www.citibank.com.au/global_docs/pdf/MCG10988_0312_no…

  • What if we have currently other citi credit card… (i have signature) ?
    still eligible for this?

    • This offer is valid for new card customers only, meaning if you have another Citi credit card you are not eligible for the offer.

      • hmm thats the first….

usually bank will say its ok as it is different product, we like our customers to have many of our products and try which are suitable
is that the condition for this specific offer through finders, or you have double checked with citi (and that is applies in all offers that citi has) ?

        ok then i will pass

      • How about if I'm a supplementary card holder of an existing Citi credit card? Would I still be eligible for this offer?

      • +1

        you are wrong Rep…..

        • what's the story, did you try to apply and worked? i am in the same boat, currently have another Citi credit card, I tried to apply and it was an instant rejection for me.

          • @angilinwago: I always do below when doing this bonus new application thingies:
            1. Before apply, send secure message to citi directly ( or call to ask, confirm I am eligible)
            2. Apply if eligible
            3. When I got the card, before spending, repeat step 1.
            4. Spend asap till meet the requirements
            5. Chase up every 2 weeks
            6. Get the bonus, close cc asap

If you get rejected it only means you don't have borrowing power anymore.

The OP is not citi staff so I don't blame him her.

  • Seems like not for casual employees or the ones who have cancelled in the last 12 months…

    • casual :
      always hard to get cc

the one who have cancelled or existing citi cc holder different type,:
not sure . waiting for the finder guy to answer

    • Can someone confirm that closing in the last 12 months is an issue for Citi?

      • No issue. I closed the same card in Dec 2021 and get this card approved yesterday.

        • strange, I got rejected at pre-approval

        • Card approval wont be a problem but you may not be eligible for bonus for holding a cotibank card in the last 12 months

        • Wow you are from the future

        • ' I closed the same card in Dec 2021 '

Thanks for coming back to let us know

  • Do ATO payments go towards the overall spend but not accrue points?

  • Am I eligible - I closed my Citi Rewards card late last year and I only have a Kogan Credit card now, which I believe is Citi.

    • I have Kogan and Qantas Premier, both are run by Citi. I've also opened and closed Citi Rewards CC while having the other two cards. Having said that I've applied for Suncorp CC (run by Citi) and got rejected a week ago.

      • Just tried applying and got rejected at pre-approval. My wage is way more than the requirement, I own home outright. Must be the recent closing of Citi Rewards CC.

        • I just spoke to them on the phone. Once your application for any of Citi credit cards including CCs that are handled by Citi on behalf of other providers eg Kogan, Qantas Money etc, is rejected for whatever reason, you have to wait for 3 months before applying again. Citi will reject application for any other credit product based on the original rejection.

official link to citi about this finder offer

  • How much of the points worth if exchange for shopping vouchers?
Can I get WoW/Coles e-gift card with the points?

    • +1

Yes, Citi reward Points can be exchanged for both Coles and Woolworths eGift Cards. You can see the full list of redemption options here.
You can get $420 worth of gift cards (for 87,600 points) with the bonus points. If you meet the spend requirement of $3,000 by spending on eligible purchases, you'll have enough points for $440 worth of gift cards (91,800 points with 1,200 left over).

      • interesting:
        exchange to coles egiftcard or
transfer to flybus (then convert 2000 flybuy points into $10 cash to shop at coles)
which is better for us customers?

        • Ok answer my own question I have done research:
          Pay with points - rate/value is $0.0040
Egiftcard (according to OP) : $0.0048
Transfer to flybuys (for Coles Kmart group spending) $0.0050

          • @CyberMurning: hmm but OP said "90,000 bonus Citi reward Points That's $400 worth of digital gift cards or 67,669 flybuys
i just checked my citi account, actually 1:1 ie 1 citi points transfer to 1 flybuys, then 2000 flybuys equal $10 flybuys dollars

  • I find this strange that it's not in the financial section of Ozb

EDIT: Applied, submitted my documents, lets see how the process goes.

    • Approved in 4-5hours.

      • -3

congrat you are now victim of credit card debt trap

  • Applied submited docs, approved in 20 mins, already shows up on myciti app waiting for activation

  • Did everyone get their $500 gift card from last year's citibank offer in september/october promotion

    • The Flybuys bonus points? Yes I've received it.

      • 2nd offer where they gave $500 jb hifi/myers/bunnings voucher

  • Can you purchase gift cards online to get your spend up to $3000?

    • No, gift cards are a cash equivalent and are considered a "cash advance" for the purpose of eligible spend. Eligible purchases exclude Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special Promotions, interest, fees, refunds, Chargebacks and spend on a Linked Diners Club Card.

      • How would this be tracked?

Lets say if you bought a $500 GC at EB Games online, would it not just be processed as a $500 item purchased from EB?

      • how about using BPAY from citi website to pay AGL bill? and, slightly different:
how about go to AGL website and pay bill from there ie enter our cc number in.

        eligible ?

        • That's definitely eligible. Utility payments are not in the list of those "not eligible" purchases. Source: I've paid last energy bill with Citibank card from last year promo.

Just watch out when you pay for gov related ones - car rego, council rates etc or anything with govnt name in the transaction.

          • @timhn: thanks. much saver the 2nd options go to AGL and pay from there
yes agree all the gov. are no no they seems to recognise for example LIVERPOOL as council

  • I got my signup bonus 90k points, but haven't recvd the egift card yet
Has anyone else got both yet?

    • How long did it take for you to receive the sign up bonus? I cleared the 3k within a week of receiving the card but nothing yet (Probably 2 weeks ago)

      • im waiting too but i just cleared the 3k few days ago

      • I got mine the same day as my first statement. I met the minimum spend about two weeks after getting the card.

        • Yeah now i think everyone are waiting for the gift card

    • Got my $100 gift card today. One week after my first statement arrived.

      • seems they might have sent all the outstanding GC's today as i got GC for both our cards - one was issued 3 months ago, min spend met in the first month and the 2nd card where min spend has been met but the 1st statement hasn't been generated yet
so must be like a bulk action to release all the outstanding GC's

  • got the day after my 1st statement was generated.

  • Ah, thanks

  • Has anyone received their Coles voucher as yet?

Which email was used to send this voucher?

    • Not yet, been 2+months since I hit the min spend, points came through very quickly but no sign of the voucher yet

  • Citibank customer service is shit. They outsource their support to an overseas location, and nothing wrong with it per se. However, there's usually a huge delay between me saying something and the bloke on the other end hears it, and then whatever they respond with is barely F** $&G audible. This is on top of the fact that they did not honour the cash back deal I applied for, in spite of meeting all the spend criteria and what not, and the "support" team knew nothing, and claimed that my card wasn't applied under that offer (pretty sure I applied under that, I took screenshots of the page while applying, but they'd not listen).

I won't touch this bank with a bargepole.

    • if you ask every member of ozb each of us will say the same about every single banks in australia. in fact, in the world.

what i always do, once i got approved for a CC with some bonus offer, i will send msg to confirm i am eligible before spending a cent.
if they come back no i just close it (after trying to argue and give all to proofs etc)

      • if you ask every member of ozb each of us will say the same about every single banks in Australia. in fact, in the world.

This is not true at all. I am a member of this site as well, and I have never had such a terrible experience with any other bank, ever, and I have lived in different countries.

I have never had to message a bank after applying for an offer to confirm that I'm eligible and have never been denied a cashback or another offer by another bank, ever. I mean, I applied using their website, where things are stated explicitly so I should not be expected to email them after that.

This is my personal experience though.

        • sorry i mean everyone will have one (or more) bank that they hate.
you dont like citi, my friend doesnt like hsbc, neighbour hates cba, etc etc

          • @CyberMurning: I am not sure I get your point. This deal is about citibank, and I stated the terrible experience I had with them as a warning to others. If your neighbour hates CBA, I don't know what relevance it has got here.

  • Got the points, after the first Statement as per Maverick above… now time to wait for the Coles eGiftcard… Anyone received it yet?

  • Has anyone applied for this card who already had a citi card within the last 12 months and still got the bonus? Normally these conditions are stated somewhere but can't see it for this one. I closed my last Citi Rewards card with the 75K Flybuys + $100 Kmart egift card in Feb but don't want to apply again and not get the bonus.

    • +1

Don't trust anyone here make one or two quick phone call to confirm, or send secure messages

      • true :) will do that.

        • YMMV, I'm in the boat with you, I asked and they said yes eligible. Do the secure message thing they reply in 1, 2 days

          • @CyberMurning: thats good; as long as you've got it in writing you should be ok if there are any issues later.

            • +1

@gooner90: That's what I always did. Ask before applying. Then when I got my card before spending a cent I ask again. Never fail this method.

    • In same boat here. I had the Citi Rewards card with the 75K Flybuys + $100 Kmart egift card and cancelled in Feb, applied and got this new card, and got the 90k rewards last week waiting for the Coles $100 card sent.

      • Same her i have total 93,xxx points now.
What are you going to do with the points?
