    • Changed from Aussie Broadband to Superloop in Sep 2019 not much of a difference

    • I left ABB more than 6months ago while they raised the 100/40 price , perfectly fine and no issue mate

    • They've been abysmal for the last couple of weeks. They don't update their outages page (which theyve had a bit recently). They don't respond on whirlpool due to outages and have the propensity to blame the NBN for any of their shortcomings.

      Think I'm done with them.

  • +6

Superloop worked well when I used them over a year ago, but the customer service wait time was just atrocious - not sure if that’s changed. Ended up switching to iiNet 100/40 for $59.9 pm since my building got FTTB.

    • +3

Wait times are still atrocious. It took me 3 x attempts of 1 hour on hold each time before I made it through. Sometimes my number in the queue would go up! Wtf. Their "callback" feature didn't work for me.

Something has changed with them in the past 2 years.

My speed is still great (about 8mbps faster than quoted).

    • How did you get it for $60? current price is $90 for those speeds

    • Do people really need customer service after set up? Last 3 set ups never needed to use any customer service either. I guess maybe if you really struggle?

      • At the time I connected to Superloop, NBN had just been set up in my area. There were so many issues. That’s all been fixed now so I wouldn’t need to contact SL, but at the time I frequently had to get in touch with them because of issues and each time it would take over an hour.

        • +1

Fair enough I think for most people just plug in and never have to call anyone now

    • Agree, wait times are really bad. ABB is like 5 minutes even on weekends.

    • Just an FYI, TPG/iiNet/Internode have downgraded their FTTB offerings from 100/40 to 100/20 for new customers and relocations, just like their NBN plans.

      • +1

Wow had no idea. It's their own network so if anything I thought they'd increase speeds.

  • +1

This whole company is a joke, I booked for connection before Xmas time and no one contacts me until TODAY

    • That's not very good. My connection was active within an hour of signing up with Superloop. So I guess the signup experience can vary greatly.

  • +1

Anyone better than $89.95 on an ongoing basis for 100/20?
    Also need static IP

    • That's what I'm currently on with Superloop - anyone knows how I can get a discount?

    • +4

Yes Uniti. I got 100/40 for 2 years and no connection fee. $79.95

      https://www.facebook.com/UnitiWireless/photos/a.307243839452…
      https://unitiwireless.com/internet/nbn

    • Im on that with Telstra - $90 (100/20)
plus you get smart modem that gives you 4g if line drops out - which in the last year plus hasn't happened as yet

    • For home users just get a DDNS service like noip, 25 USD for 12 month or you can use the free one, or some modem providers have free DDNS service like asus.

Static ip isn't exactly a must with DDNS services being reliable and your router updating to the supported DDNS service.

Some routers don't have DDNS built in like google wifi, then you need to either install app on your pc and keep it running or if you have a security camera check it's own DDNS client.

      Superloop doesn't use CG NAT

      • Not so much about reliable services, more reliable technology- as HFC doesn't change IP very often (in comparison to other copper based services), so doesn't leave connections waiting for the DDNS provider to update your zone.

  • How difficult is it to swap from Aussie Broadband to this? I've never swapped ISPs before. Been with Aussie for about 18 months since NBN got installed.

    • Sounds like itll be a huge downgrade in terms of customer service from ABB to this

      • +3

Yeah, I can't fault the customer service and general reliability with ABB. It's just I'm paying $79.95 for 50/20 unlimited…

        • The customer service is better with ABB, but the reliability of superloop is much better. ABB as of late has constant maintenance going on that causes outages.

      • +2

Wait a few months and Aussie BB will be the same as iiNet , once they go public it's all about the mooooollllllaaaahhh .

        • +2

          Aren't they already publicly traded?

    • +2

It is super easy and takes about 10 minutes to be up and running.

    • Not hard at all, can take minutes to swap over depending on what type of connection you have.

SL IMO are reliable, fast both nationally and internationally and support for me has never been needed.

Should you consider, please do use the referral link which also supports Ozbargain members too :)

Good luck with that and I am confident SL wont disappoint 👍

      • Do I need to call Aussie Broadband beforehand to stop the service, and sign up with SL for new service?

        • +2

Nah call Aussie BB last. Signup to SL, wait for SL to say your service is online, call Aussie BB and cancel.

          • +1

@Twix: I learnt the hard way lol. Do not be tempted to organise a disconnect with ABB as it stuffs up the churn process. I lost 2 days.

      • +1

        I just join Superloop.
How to put your referral code to random referrer pool of Ozbargain?
        Thank you.

        • Hi, Where it says Referral above, just next to that you just click on the above word or link which says "random" and then that will take you to the SL signup.

Well done for supporting other Ozbargain members 👍

          • @zztrader: I think you have missed my question.
I want to know how to add my code to the pool so that I get some benefit when some new user use my referrer code.
            thank you.

            • @seniordoc: Ahh, so sorry there doc!

On the right side of the link section look for the word > Edit < then click it, then there will be a box where to add your code.

Hope that helps and good luck :)

  • +3

Anyone had any luck mentioning these deals to ABB and getting a discount?

    • +1

Nah Aussie BB won't price match. They have their own deals coming.

  • So I think Slo20 may have answered my question, but do I qualify as a new customer for the 6 month deal if I have been with Superloop previously (and currently with another provider)?

    • You have to meet this.

Returning customers [who have previously been with Superloop and already received a six(6) month discount promotion] will not be eligible for a new promotion for a period of twelve (12) months.

      • +1

Either this is new or they don’t enforce it as each time I switch I’ve got the discount for another 6 months. They do give me a new username each time also so maybe that’s how I’m being treated as a new customer.

        • It's the first time I've seen it in the T&Cs.

          • @Twix: You could just sign up in your spouse's name at the same address?

            • @Lichen6420: The ISP knows the NBN location ID. If she has a different last name that may work.

              • @Twix: Yeah I think it is relatively normal for people to 'move house' and hence have the same the location ID as a previous subscriber. Different last name should work fine.

                • @Lichen6420: Yeah the NBN LOC ID doesn't change. The ISP may ask for proof of name from a gas service or something receipt.

$79.95/month +$5 for fixed line phone

  • -5

Expensive. Spintel is $65 standard. Not worth saving 5$ And switching in 6 minths

    • +1

      The saving is $30.30.

    • +2

Spintel is a lower quality provider

  • I don't get why this is a deal - I've been on Superloop for more than 12 months and have been paying 89.95 for 100/40 unlimited data. So if I switch this to this, I would save an almighty one dollar?

    • Did you miss the cheaper price for new customers? Alot of people move to other providers for 6-12months then come back.

      • I would switch out and switch back if the difference in price was more than $1. Not much of a saving here for those who need to be on a 100/40Mbps unlimited data plan

  • So is unity the cheapest for 100/40 for 12/24 months?

  • +1

They do not provide any pro-rata refund if you switch / terminate.
And others already pointed out above that the customer service is kinda crap if you compare it to ABB.

  • +1

Their address selector isn't working for me at all.

    • I've had an issue in the past where my street number, 20 Something Road was incorrect. The actual address was 20-22 Something Road.

  • -1

As someone mentioned above ridiculous download caps of 3TB on gig plans that no other ISP i know implements.

    • Would you rather suggest good deal though? Genuinely asking.
Hope you would compare 🍎:🍎 Not 🍎:🍊….

      • No, I’m just saying it’s not a bargain given the wholesale price is $55 or so. There will or should be better deals.

  • Is the NBN 1000/50 plan for $139.95 after the promotional period their normal price or did they drop it $10?

    • +2

Dropped $10. It used to be $149.

      • Cool, thanks! I don't think I'd need more than 3000GB per month so I think I'll make the switch from ABB.

        • Sure go for it. I'm waiting a day since Aussie BB have said they will do deals for existing customers.

          • +1

@Twix: Good point, I asked ABB and they mentioned their promotional pricing is also applicable to existing HFC or FTTP users if you are upgrading, otherwise no such luck.

        • If launtel in your area u can get gig plan for $139 Month ($4.60 a day) as standard price plus free 7 day trial, no caps, referal bonus and ability to completely pause or change speed tier on a daily basis.

          • @prxy: Oh yes, I've been keeping an eye on Launtel but they don't offer the 1000/50 plan in my area. :-(

            • @stinger01: Pity,

Have u expressed interest on joining launtel on their plan page or whirlpool forums?

If they get enough interest especially on the gig plans u may be in luck.

That's what i did and within a month they setup on my poi.

I've saved so much money by pausing my plan on long weekends away and vacation times.

Also already had 3 referal bonuses come through from OzB as well.

If u do end up joining make sure you use a referal link as both referer and referee get bonuses.

              Cheers.

  • why cant these ISP just give us a permanent deal, not these 6 months deal.

    • These 6 months discounts are NBNs doing.

    • Epic broadband seems to be a permanent deal

  • Does it comes with public IP?

    • Normal IPv4.

  • I'm happy with it. They gave me $5 discount to stay when I wanted to leave plus had a few ozbargain members use my referral link so its pretty cheap. Cannot fault it.

    • How does referral work for superloop?

      • You get 10% (capped at $10) off for every person you refer for 6 months. So if you refer 10 people you get 100% off. The person you referred gets $10 off for 6 months.

      • I think it's 10% off per referral up to 100%

  • Do these guys offer static IP bolt on?

    • +1

      $5 a month.

      • +1

Thanks, looks like they are smashed at the moment. Will try later.

  • +2

Note that if you are signing up and need a NBN box installed for HFC connection there is reportedly a global shortage impacting supplies of that connection box - https://www.channelnews.com.au/chip-shortage-hits-nbn-rollou… and comment on TPG forums confirms this https://community.tpg.com.au/t5/Broadband-Internet/Delays-in…

I signed up to superloop last week and was told earliest that NBN technician can come out to install this box is April due to this component shortage - so keep that in mind

    • +2

Another example of efficient management by NBN ! I have two extra ones sitting in the garage. They were replaced by NBN when I churned providers. Despite my insistence that I have an existing HFC modem with working service.

I can only imagine how many more units have been swapped unnecessarily.

      • Sell one on eBay

        • +3
          1. NBN connection box is not yours to sell and is property of NBN Co.
          2. NBN connection box can't be reused unless NBN reprogram it.
          3. you would get a negative review from the buyer.
          • +2

@Twix: Yes to 1 & 2, not sure about three. I’m not going to sell them. Use to work for NBN so well versed with the rules and restrictions.

Although, if you source one and tell your RSP that you have a box they can ask NBN to provision it. YMMV

Due to the recently announced stop sale, this will be the case a lot.

            • @fifoo: NBN will say return it to us, or the property you stole it from, which they will have on their records.
It’s not customer owned to sell (or buy).

      • Or maybe just a little global pandemic interrupting the supply chain but don’t let me knock you off your high horse..

    • +1
    • even though they shouldn't they appear for sale on gumtree frequently, if it was me I'd consider getting one and supply the serial no / mac address etc and getting connected sooner

      • Another “stop sale” from 2/2/21
