FAQ: Difference between non recessed and recessed VESA Mount
Non recessed - the mounting plate is flush/flat with the monitor.

Recessed - the mounting plate often clips into the monitor. It dips/sinks into the monitor by ~1 centimetre.

    its quite informative thanks OP. I am in the market for laptop/monitor spring arm, would the C clamp mount work with my Ikea desk as this:

    the thick is 5cm which is not an issue,
    the problem is the gap between cable management tray and the desk is only around 4cm.

    Looks like capacity is greater than the VIVO one but height adjustment is slightly less.

    I am trying to look for a vESA adaptor as well for this Curved Samsung monitor 27inch i have.. (backside of monitor has NO slots for those screws to go in..).. I saw couple of them in amazon but $100 or $200 .. lol might as well get a new monitor.

    Heads up I bought the Single Monitor Mount - paid $33. Using it to mount a 27" Acer Predator. Was pretty easy to assemble and didn't really have any issues. I wish the pole was longer as i'm at max height and the monitor still sits a bit low, but not too big of a deal. Overall cheap but effective.
