    Thanks for sharing.

I got this Victorinox Stainless Steel one instead for $5.50.

EDIT: Reviews don’t look good. Thankfully Amazon should be good for a refund if it rusts.

    • +1

      Yep, can confirm. Rusted immediately.

      • If you got it from Amazon, did you get a refund?

        • It went in the bin.

The ebay cheapies I got at the same time are going strong, without any special care needed.

      • There's 2 types: one with a silver blade, and one with a black blade. The good one is the silver one, which is actual stainless steel. The black one would be carbon steel or something like that - they rust.

The brand you want is Kisag, which looks like this: https://www.mitchellcooper.co.uk/kisag-peelers-10524

I got mine a few years ago for about $8 each.

I've had one for a few months now, hasn't rusted yet. Ordered from Amazon AU, stamped "Rex Zena Swiss made" on the side, box was marked "Rex by Victorinox", has a black blade. I don't baby it either - I wash it after each use and let it air-dry with cutlery.

        • Zena are the original makers of the iconic Rex peeler: https://www.zena.swiss/en/products/rex

It has an aluminium handle and steel blade. Since these are dissimilar metals in contact with each other, one will corrode quickly IF put in a corrosive environment like a dishwasher. Hand wash and dry immediately and they will be fine.

The original Rex can be found on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B002XMEHZ2/

Ignore negative reviews. Those people didn’t know how to look after a non-stainless piece of quality cookware.

Ive had one for several years, it only rusts if you do not look after it correctly otherwise it lasts a life time.

        • +3

Agreed, this is the type I've always used in commercial kitchens and they last a couple of years even in that setting. The holes that hold the blade elongates and starts dropping the blade before any rusting or bluntness occurs

    • +1

For some reason we have that one and OP's, I much prefer the plastic one.

    • +1

Don't know if mine is Victorinox or not, likely just a generic brand I've picked up along the way but I've always used this style, throw them thru the dishwasher and never had them rust.

    • +1

received yesterday and hand wash, leave it air dry. Today the blade rust everywhere

      • That sucks!

Leave a review and ask Amazon for a refund.

        • Yes refunded. This thing should not even in production, just creating more landfill.

I bought and then cancelled … Reviews werent great for right handers.

    • +1

Hard to peel in that angle.

  • If this is genuine product, its great. Bought in swiss during a visit, over 5 years now regular usage

  • Thanks! Will give this one a shot!
I've gone through many peelers varying from cheapo ones to $20 peelers and I've found the best to be the Daiso $2.80 ones. They hold their sharpness really well and my last one lasted 2 years before I dropped it causing the blade holder to drop.

    • Sounds good. Where can a Daiso be bought for $2.80?

      • Daiso is a store, similar to the concept of 100 yen shops most of its products are $2.80. Can be found in most major shopping centres.

How is peeling a Swiss person different to other nationalities?

    • +10

They tend to have more holes.

      • Give this comment the votes it deserves

  • I had one of these and lost it. If it is original these are great

  • I've been using this for the last three years. I can't recommend enough.

  • Thanks OP. Bought it in black.

    • As far as I can tell the black one (different seller) is eligable for free delivery with Prime?

  • Red out of stock, black still available.

  • +1

Keep in mind that the handle is hollow on one side which makes it less comfortable and more plasticy than it looks. You'll note that all pics always show it angled to the left, thus not showing the cut out view.

  • Oxo or bust.

  • Black one also seems out of stock.

  • i have this one made in swiss, been using for years and still sharp

  • Daiso >>>>

  • Did order it a few weeks back (the price was the same) despite poor review. At first it feels bad because of the handle. As soon as you learn to use it it's a killer. Blade is really sharp compared to pack of 3 cheapies @ woolies/colies

  • Mine didn't rust, but it's crap. A good Chinese one can be much better than this rubbish.

  • I have a 20 yo zyliss traditional shaped peeler, still works fine except the blade has a few dings in it now. Hopefully the SS version will last as long cheers Op

  • Back in stock. I just got one.

  • Back in stock, got one.
