  • No C-Tick Approval,so technically this is illegal to be sold / imported / used in Australia.

That was quick. You're gonna put A3Australia out of a job :)

I believe the "used" part of your comment is incorrect, though, based on reports from people who've raised the issue of electrical approvals with the relevent agencies and received responses on previous occasions.

meh, lots of stuff is not going to have c-tick approval. if you buy a iphone/ipad/camera/whatever on your holiday then you won't be able to use the charger?

50W led light? Bright enough for a dinnering hall! If it is not LED, it will burn the electronic remote component in no time!

  • is that the standard thread for led bulbs? i thought bulbs used bayonet style thread

    • there two types: screws and caps. i think more modern houses have caps
      i want a cap one

B22 is the standard bayonet aussie fitting

Be aware that all of these remote switch units - including those promoted as 'standby eliminators' each themselves use about 1 watt in electricity (and some I strongly suspect use close to 2). If you're going to get this, it's a good idea get into the habit of turning it off at the wall during the day. Given some of the stuff coming out of China - good from a safety point of view too.
Also be aware that there's a pretty reasonable chance that if you use this with a 15/18/20W fluoro bulb that the heat from the ballast may fry the electonics in this sooner rather than later. Despite the energy savings, fluoro bulbs can get much hotter at the very base than old (even high wattage) incandescents.
