    I bought these to use for an Ambilight project as I was too impatient to wait for AliExpress to deliver

    SPARKE DreamColor Led Strip… https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07SM4P5W3

    They are addressable LED (WS2811). I cut the controller off and connected it to a microcontroller and use WLED with. They work well. Only downside is WS2811 are addressable in groups of 3. So while you can have different colours along the same strip, it’s not per pixel/LED it’s group of 3 pixels/LED.

  What is the difference between the two - i.e. Which one do I buy!

  One can only be controlled with the Bluetooth App, and the other ($2 more exxy) is exact same, but has Amazon/Google Home support?

    Same, no nothing much about these but been looking out for something to go behind the telly for some backlighting. Don't want bluetooth or separate apps, preferably wifi, no hub and google home/Tuya/ smart connect support.

    1x 3-5m would be enough too

    Wifi (with possible connection to Alexa, Google, etc) versus Bluetooth with connection to mobile device only, I assume.

    I've got other lights with wifi middle that use the same Magic Home app connected to Google, work fine as long as you can create the 2.4GHz wifi network. A mixed 2.4/5 network won't show up as an option.

    The magic home app is pretty common for the cheaper amazon/ebay smart lights, so should be able to add more bits later without needing a ridiculous number of different apps.

  I bought a set of these from the last deal and note two things:
  1) the lights worked fine and the quality of the light string looks good - but the wifi controller was flaky (would not stay connected to the wifi network so vanished from the app and each time needed to be reset to get it working again) so I replaced it with another spare wifi controller I had from a kit I'd bought on eBay and it works fine
  2) the two strings of 5M of lights in this kit don't unfortunately support being joined into one 10M string (the light kits I've previously purchased on ebay had a connector at both ends of each string which allowed you to run them as a single long string rather than parallel strings from the controller)

    Were you able to test out the music sync function? Does the controller have a microphone in it for music from speakers, or does it only sync with music played via phone (or similar)?

  The kids got some lights similar to these for Christmas from the inlaws. I put them up and they look pretty sweet… until I was down the rabbit hole on Youtube and saw the addressable strips. Now I want to take them down and upgrade them. I wonder if the wife will let me put some in our bedroom. haha
