[Refurb] Google Nest Hub Max $197.99 + Delivery @ Expansys AU

150

Found this while going checking for another item, given the prices of Nest Hub Max outside (generally above 300AUD), for refurb, this seems to be really good value!

Hahaha, What a rip, minimum shipping cost is A$46.50 making the device no cheaper than 244.49 at best for a repaired item.. no thanks they have been around this price brand new on eBay sale before… I would prefer a brand new one with a full warranty at that price…

    Bye bye

      Haha okay bye bye.
      Are you 10 years old?

    Noting:

    Mfr: AP_GA00639-US_REFURB

Please note that many of our devices are import versions and may not come with a local charger. In those cases, a plug adapter will be included in the box.

  • Got two last year from Expansys back when they were $170. One seemed to be essentially brand new, with plastic still around the device. The other had no noticeable signs of wear. Came with plug adaptor.

    Pretty happy with the purchase.

Seems they are being a little greedy this time round and the AUD is much stronger than last year so should be cheaper if coming from overseas…

What do people use this for? I got one for free from Telstra and it's still in the box. I don't have any smart home IoT devices and I already have a Lenovo smart clock with Google Assistant so I don't really know how to put this to use.

Display photos from your Google account. Cast videos and photos from your phone. Watch you tube. Remote watch your home when you are away etc

      • I use it to watch sports and news on Foxtel (requires either casting from a phone or linking a Foxtel account with Google home for voice activation)
      • Making phone calls to any number if you have a linked Telstra (or Boost) mobile (useful if you ask Google for a number, then just say call it)

That said, these were recently on promo for $299 with free shipping from Google so ~$250 shipped for a used unit seems a bit steep!

      • Completely agree. I've been after one and actually saw a few new ones on ebay after Christmas for $250 (Buy it now).

Note this is the Max which does video chat and has bigger screen

      • Yeah, Telstra gave this exact model out for free with Pixel 5.

I have three of these and two minis. Use it to control lights, ask what the weather will be, set reminders etc.

    • Hey google
      what's the weather in Seattle?
What's the time in new Jersey?
      Shut my lights off
Turn off my heater (using my smart plus)

    • I’m planning to put it near the main entrance door of my new house. Seems like a good place where I can get my schedule, traffic and news updates (as I wear my shoes and getting ready to go out). Or when I return home and see what’s cooking. I should have place another at the open kitchen area.

It’s also good for guests checking in and out for COVID safe lol!

    • We have one in the kitchen which is basically the central hub of the house. We control all our media with it, the kids even watch media on it at times when sitting at the breakfast bar. Also great for video calls - my phone is often still on silent from work and so my wife calls the Nest when driving home to guarantee someone will hear it ringing

  • What advantages does this have over a comparable Echo?

We have one for a year now and the responsiveness is getiing worse by the month. It would pickup fairly easy after saying the magic words but now you sometimes have to yell for it to wake up and /or the stuff it recognises has nothing to do with what we actually said 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have the original version and agree. I find myself now yelling "HEY GOOGLE!" at it (sometimes a couple of metres away might I add) for it to wake up.

Asking it to play music can be hit and miss, too. The device acknowledges the song I want to play, and then goes to play a totally different song! Weird..
