  • Oddly similar to the ALDI water transfer pump I use for firefighting but paid $169.00. for. Should be coming around again shortly on the ALDI yearly cycle (which I use to reflect on how old I'm getting.)

Would you really put your life and house into the hands of an aldi pump? I wouldn't even put my life in the hands of an aldi smoke detector.

      • +5

It has the Briggs and Stratton motor.

    • +3

It's hard to compare an ALDI pump made in China to an Australian made Onga pump. Amongst the many here that will agree about reliability of a Davey or Onga fire pump, the engine is also a Briggs and Stratton engine with an electric start. We carry all the spare parts for both manufacturers and they will keep manufacturing spare parts for seven years after the product become discontinued. Both Onga and Davey fire fighters are class leading and have barely changed over the past 20-30 years.

Yes, the ALDI is a cheaper pump, but never a suitable replacement when you risk your home, property and life when compared to an Onga or Davey fire pump.

In the end, the old adage, you get what you pay for is as true for this products as most things in life.

      • +3

The ALDI pump meets or exceeds Australian safety standards to be sold here.
I like Briggs and Stratton engines but who is to say the ADLI one will not last as long if looked after and properly maintained?
$169 vs $1250 you could go through an ALDI pump every few years and still be way in front.

        • Penny pinching doesn't do you any good if the thing breaks when fighting a fire. But yeah have fun with your aldi trash.

          • +1

@TWDSC: OzBargain logic: Pump breaks in a bushfire, Ozbargainer congratulates self for buying crappy pump from somewhere with a good return policy, pump (and everything else) consumed in fire.

  • It was a little cheaper (albeit heavily reduced from a higher price) just over 5 months ago. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549776. Link in old post appears to land on same page.

    • +2

Yes, we have had increased costs on most pumps as parts sourced overseas have sky rocketed with limited supplies from the countries that can manufacturer them.

    • -5

Yes but they still have the "only 15 units available" so I'm assuming they must be crap as you have not sold any in 6 months!!!!

  • +1

I purchased one of these, same but only $659

No need for battery as it starts with one pull

Full roll frame so wont get damaged

Came with a suction hose that sell for $150

    • It's not the same. It's an Ozito from the description.

      • Yes, imported and backed by them, with genuine BriggsStratton 6.5HP OHV Vangaurd powered

        • +1

Yes, but it is NOT the same as the OP's product as you stated.. Same engine, yes but different other components and manufactured in China. So it is not the same product !

Go to Bunnings or a similar store and compare the price of Ozito products. They are not priced the same as other more well known brands.

  • During a fire there may be a power outage, the Aldi is a good cheap backup for a house pump but not sure in a bushfire, for that I have a honda+30m fire hose.

  • Is this for Victorian OzBargainers

    • No for all. We ship Australia-wide (freight prices in listing)
