    Does it measure level-headedness?

  • +37

I can tell you're in Victoria based on the bubble's position 😜

    • +3

      lmao

    • +2

It doubles as a doughnut G-force meter.

    • +2

I'll call it now. This is the best comment for 2021.

    • how can you tell?

      • +2

The bubble is all the way to the left, indicating it's somewhere in the southern Australia 😜😅

      • +3

        should be called "gerkin"

    • +14

That's right boss. Work Car VW Caddy sure drives and feels like a BMW.

      • +1

        German engineering…

      • -1

Blinkers are optional as well ?

    • I was actually looking for a comment about it being a BMW. It definitely is similar to an older generation Bimmer dash but now the OP has replied it's a bit of a 'duh' moment because it's very obviously a VW dash.

On the other remark, even if I owned a nice car I would recommend someone else something more sensible. My expensive tastes don't apply to someone else.

      • +2

        You wanna sprite?

      • Bimmer or Beamer?
        Chuck or Chook?

  • +1

Man I really want this. Wonder if they have them in any stores in Sydney

    • +6

Not that I can see on the system, sorry.

  • +1

I'm sure you can buy a real "Craftright" spirit level for a few cents more.

    • With easy keychain access!?!?! :P

  • +5

What is the normal price? Is this OzRRP?

    • +11

hehehehe all bargains are relative! Like time itself! :D

  • +3

I got given 3 of these pre-Christmas by the checkout operator at the tool desk…

    • +1

Oh you must be so handsome

      • +9

When you walk on a lean they give them to you free, try it.

      • +3

Well truth be told they were given to my kid…
But I assumed they were a promotional giveaway at the time. Seems odd that they were giving them away a week ago and now think they're worth a buck!

        • I assume it’s like how Woolworths was selling Coca Cola soccer balls for $10 a week before the World Cup. Clearly a promo item they forgot to give away

  • +1

Saw stacks of these the other day at box hill.

  • +6

    Just use your phone?

    • +6

In many situations it's not worth the risk of breaking your phone

      • +2

Also, phones have a flat screen. I use a tiny detachable camera bubble to level Ikea shelfing as it's cheap, stable and easy to see.

You could also go ghetto and use a roll-on deodorant ball.

    • My stupid phone camera sticks out and makes the reading very slightly wrong.

  • +1

    Bubble Bobble

  • +1

    Your level is broken.

  • +1

Your dash is crooked. Try to get it to line-fall, at least…

  • +1

OP, you need to get those punctures sorted out

  • +2

This deal is on another level!!

  • +1

The ol’ Tig could use a dusting 🤟

  • +4

    $1? That's the spirit!

  • Try going to a whitegoods store and asking the storeroom or delivery people for one. Heaps of washing machines come with one (without the key ring part) in the box, they will be throwing them away.

  • +1

I bought one of these the other day, does as advertised.

  • +4

Putting in a shower nib wall I learnt a level will give different readings if it is lying flat vs correctly on edge. Basically all depends on how the glass is shaped. So anyone checked to see how accurate these things are? I put a few cheap levels on the Bunnings floor and only 2 out of 5 gave the same readings when the level was turned in opposite direction. Might ruin a project for the bargain price of $1.

    • +1

Lol my plan is already in action by the overlords it seems. I for one welcome our new mushroom shaped lizard overlords.

    • I had the same issue with mountable camera bubbles. One works great, the other three were useless.

I used my phone's gyroscope thingy to test them.

    • +3

The 1 I got last week isn’t level. That’s the problem with impulse buying, now I’m going to ‘have’ to go back to Bunnings to swap it. And I’ll ‘have’ to get a snag while I’m there. Maybe that’s their plan all along, I don’t mind though if it means I have a excuse to go to Bunnings ;)

    • If you don’t know to turn the level around to check it’s right then you prob shouldn’t be using one

  • +1

Id take yours back, its broken.

  • +1

    My prayers have been answered!

I can't tell you how many times I've been out and about with my keys, only to discover I didn't have a spirit level with me.
(oh hang on, yes I can…. none)

    Measuring tape? Yes. Level? Nada.

But I guess a bargain is a bargain (these things are $2-3 on Ebay).

    Have a plus vote :).

Step 1, develop these with all sides having a slight angle,
step 2 everything in the world gets hung wrong,
step 3 start a picture etc straightening business
    Step 4 world domination.
    Step 5 profit.

  • +1

Thanks! Now I can place my keys really level.

  • Applies to ALL levels.
First and foremost, only buy the one that tests as accurate for level.
What's a $1 level worth that tests innacurate?

    • You can always test it against the expensive levels in the store to check accuracy. It's not like it's adjustable so it's not going to drift over time.

    This is a fact:

Whales eat plankton that causes wind in the whale's digestive system which causes them to fart.
Fishermen in small boats follow whales to collect the bubbles rising to the surface from the whale's farts but being careful not to catch bubbles that rise from the whale's blowhole.
They then sell these bubbles to companies to be used in spirit levels for Bunnings,

That's a fact. If you don't believe me, break one open and smell the bubble, it should smell like plankton.

    [* DON'T break one open ] [ Don't try this at home ] [ This is a joke *]

    • tl;dr Skipped the last paragraph. Smells like plankton you say. Let me check.

  • +1

I’m ashamed to admit that I bought one of these for like $30 from some hipster Australian brand like 2 years ago. Logo has since scratched off so it’s literally the same.

  • another 50c gets you a twin axis level on eBay!!
