I bought one of these about a year ago and really like it. Pods can only be bought from nespresso shops or nespresso online, but I have found that when you get a pod flavour that you like, then it's a consistent good coffee. There is a new model out but based on a quick Google search, I don't think that it's much different but it's more sustainable for the environment.
I saw it at Costco Crossroads, not sure if it's nationwide.

The Vertuo is a Nescafé only pod proposition and is more for those that are used to the longer pour, American style coffee drinker. The regular pod Nescafé is for the majority buyer. It’s a wonder Americans live as long as they do to be honest!
"…it's a consistent good coffee…"
Pods contain stale ground coffee. But it's amazing what you can get used to.
Ignorant comment as the pods are packed in a nitrogen rich system so the pods remain fresh for a year as it’s the oxygen that causes the problem. So as long as it remains sealed it’s all good for an awesome mug of joe! BTW I’m a coffee snob, I do fresh beans, roasted & immediately ground & used… I have a wide assortment of single location beans of the highest quality and can pick holes in any coffee but pod coffee is 99% as good with a fraction of the effort
And as a snob, I laugh at the maccers v’s gg or coffee club preferences as well as the great 711 $1 debate over the alternatives too. But if your ok with the price and you enjoy 1-2 coffee a day a pod is far better than any instant, ever

You are delusional if you think nitrogen flushing and capping stops grind degradation. The grinders operate in an air-based environment. The nitrogen stops merely slows the rate of decay.
BTW I’m a coffee snob
No you're not.
I do fresh beans, roasted & immediately ground
An interesting claim from a self-proclaimed coffee snob. Straight from the roaster to the grinder, huh? No off-gas period?
pod coffee is 99% as good with a fraction of the effort
Thanks for the laugh. This quote is going straight to the pool room.
Do you have a blog or YouTube channel where you share your amazing insights on freshly-ground coffee and coffee pods?
Yeaaaaaahhhhhh…. Smash that like button. Press subscribe. Ring that bell icon. And don't forget to type a response to an arbitrary/rhetorical question down in the comments. PEACE!
BTW I’m a coffee snob
Your posting history, here, suggests you talk through your proverbial when it comes to coffee:
"Ive got better, made worse with other cheaper methods but this Saeco Odea is so much better than cheaper methods"
"I bought and returned this model for the Touch model ~ www.breville.com/us/en/products/espresso/bes880.html
The Touch has way better, quicker new gen water heating (no longer long waits to warm or cool) and with awesome ability to dial in the correct grind, milk temp/froth and pour! Im just saying even at this price and I paid way less again I think the TOUCH is a way way way better coffee maker!""coffees is a suburban yuppie's idea of crack, Im drinking tea"
"Is it worth so much for the perfect coffee? I've decided YES, i love coffee, love making, drinking and sharing BUT I've also discovered that some of the best cups at home or in demo's have come from machines i wouldn't have given a second thought too until i tasted the finished brew. The ALDI system in some blind testing rates very highly (the milk frothed they sell is too small & the 'frother' function overspills the continer), NESPRESSO make great automatics but at the prices i would go the Sunbeam. The Breville BES870 @$600ish is a great all-in-one only issuing the dual boiler but the best cheapest coffee came from the electrolux ELM5400 series!!!"
7-11 and Macca's coffee is far better than pod coffee. I've tried to love pod coffees, but they are just mediocre at best. I've had a Keurig, and still own and occasionally use a docle gusto and nespresso machine, they are ok for what they are, but let's not kid ourselves.
You won't beat properly made coffee with (fresh) whole beans.
Thank you for confirming, a $1 coffee from 7/11 is far better than the swill I get from our pod machine
I'm finding Nespresso genuine pods better then most chain stores.
Only Gloria Jean's I prefer.
Talking mainly about Maccas, Cibo, Coffee Club, Muffin Break…
FYI can get it for the same price with free delivery from the Costco website. 80pk of pods is $36 too.
woah! Can you please link to the 80pk of vertuo pods?
Thanks Mitch889, however these arent vertuo
It comes with a $20 coffee credit
From Costco Website:
Until the 31st of January 2021, the purchase of a NespressoVertuo coffee machine will include a $20 coffee credit. Find more details about this promotion here.
https://www.costco.com.au/Kitchen-Laundry-Appliances/Small-A…
$3 instant saving on Listerine mouthwash through to 31Jan21, too.
Coincidence? I think not.
Out of interest have you actually tasted vertuo pod coffee?
I'm not a huge fan of most Nespresso or compatible standard pod coffee (I've tried plenty) but at least a couple are consistently better than the insipid stuff coffee you get at many cafes and clubs. They might not be to your taste but Nespresso has forged a niche in the market and is VERY popular for two good reasons.
Despite peoples comments here, I found Vertuo pretty great. Better then most coffee shops.
Double Expresso makes a great iced latte for example, 89cent pod and the biggest pods for $1.10 makes two medium coffee's.Plus you can exploit there coffee subscription, pay $100 a month, plus 10% credit a month free, 4month free. Thats $440 pods for $300.
Years worth of decent coffee for $300.How did you arrive at that annual cost nephilim? Nespresso website says 4th month free (ie 1 month) so total cost will be $1100, although you will get 110% of your subscription (either $1320 or $1210 depending on how they treat the free month) worth of pods.
If what you said is accurate I may be interested but I can't see it.
So we can't use other Nespresso pods on this? Only Nespresso pods bought from their website?
They are a new shape/size and have a barcode on the pod which tells the machine what pod it is and how to dispense. Can only buy direct from nespresso
You meant nespresso compatible pods? No you can’t as the nespresso vertuo pods has a barcode only readable by the nespresso machines.
No, only Nespresso pods from their store/website.
I made that mistake thinking I could use anyone elses stuff, when I purchased one : (
Looked at this but the new pod system is a turn off. No frother either?
Should be able to get a model with a frother elsewhere
Nespresso has introduced proprietary tech (not a new idea) into their coffee machines to fence out their capsule competitors and protect their overpriced product margins. And the dumb punters love it .. :-( .. !!
I ended up getting an additional $80 cash back from Nespresso so the machine only costed $29.99
How? I believe Costco is already passing on the cashback in the reduced purchase price.
Went to redeem my $20 credit and it said I'm eligible for $80 cashback, it didn't give me an option.
Winner! Let us know what you think of the coffee please.
@[Deactivated]: I got it just after Christmas, It's awesome. New pods are great, love the adjustable sizes.
@Futura: Thanks. The extra coffee is the major attraction for me, although out of the whole Nespresso range I like < a handful. Wife likes weak milky coffee so she's more amenable to their range.
Good deal - I picked up a similar Vertuo Plus machine on sale earlier in the year for a net amount of $129 (after cashback) so this is a great deal.
As the OP has said, pods can only be purchased from Nespresso which has become slightly annoying as I don't always plan ahead and order online or go to a store. Frustrating when local supermarkets carry great varieties of the standard Nespresso pods.
