    I don't dare to click.

    Its amazon.com too

    US account credit?

    • yes

  • Amazon US, not AU

  • UH-OH
Something went wrong at Our end
    GO TO AMAZON HOME

    • it loaded for me

  • This one is on US site. Does Amazon convert their credit if you shop at AU site?

    • +1

      Nope, don't think so

    • +1

      No.

Still got credit on the US site from before the AU opened and it's non transferrable. Now I have $5 more to sit there until something digitial worth buying appears as postage is a killer.

  • Is there anything you can get worth $5 including shipping there? It also has to ship to Australia from an Amazon supplier

    • +1

Unlikely, so bit of a waste of time.

    • +1

I apparently also had a US$10 credit for some reason giving me US$15 and I still struggled to find something worthwhile. Ended up buying a crimper die I'd had on my wishlist for a while.

  • +1

Can you use to buy digital items like ebooks, movie rentals and videogames?

    • +2

If it's sold by Amazon LLC

Offer only applies to digital content sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC (look for "sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC" on the content detail page). Digital content sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer.

  • +3

I still have unused amazon us credits. shipping to Australia is so expensive even on tiny items. idk why this has so many upvotes but once you check the shipping and import cost, its not worth it at all

    • Which is why you use it for digital items like gift cards and game keys when they are on sale.

      • +2

you cant use credit on gift cards.. and as for game keys, you'd have to be on alert and dig around their US site and make sure its an eligible item - "sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC". just not worth the time and hassle imo for $5 savings

        • Watching a barely 30 second video for $5 US is hardly a hassle. There's no expiration date on credit either.

I've bought both cards and keys before many times in the past from Amazon US with my credit. It's been a little while since I bought a gift card there so maybe that has changed, but as for the game keys, they have sales every few weeks you can find on the usual third party game deal sites as navigation on Amazon US for that stuff is useless.

            @Freezies:

Promotional credit expires at February 15, 2021 12:00AM GMT

            • @skido: Glossed over that part.

Well you can also rent movies and buy books etc.

              • +1

@Freezies: the thing is, if you claim the offer, then you would feel the need to find something to redeem the credit on. After wasting a few hours not being able to find anything suitable, you'd realise its not worth it. Ive experienced this myself. If you find something suitable, then great for you but consider the time you spend looking for something and the value of this offer.

                • -1

@skido: Already did. Just picked up State of Decay - Year One survival Edition Steam key for $4.99.

I might have gotten the last copy though because I just tried to buy a second and I can't although it's still showing in the storefront. The 30 second video was worth it for me and I'm sure others will find books or something they want.

                  • @Freezies: Battlefront II is 7.99 if you wanna chuck in $2!

                    • @serpserpserp: Erm, 7.99 - 5 is more like USD3, which then converts to closer to AUD4, so you're chucking in double that amount!

        • I bought a $25 US Itunes card with my credit. Essentially 20% off. Worth it for me.

          • @hazzad: If youre using it on an Australian iTunes account, consider the time needed to input US billing details and payment methods and having to switch back and forth between AU and US app stores to download/update apps. Otherwise, if youre gifting it to someone in the US, then youre gucci

            • @skido: I use it for my own US account. Been using US Itunes account for some years. Movies are cheaper there plus i also redeem my digital codes from US purchased movies in Movies Anywhere. You cant use US Itunes gift card in a AU account. They are region locked.

  • Can you use it to buy gift card?

    • no and gift cards purchased on Amazon US cannot be used on Amazon Au. They are region locked

  • +1

tried and i cant use it on anything :)

  • While I had the video (or ad) on I looked away and had the sound muted. After it finished playing, I went to claim the $5 :)

    • +2

How do you sleep at night?

      • +2

        Quietly it seems

  • Tried and could redeem it on the new Smashing Pumpkins CD Cyr. Shipping is a bit of a killer though.

    • Shipping on everything is $17 or more!

  • Where would the $5 turn up in the account? Couldn’t find it anywhere in my account.

    • +1

      I saw it at checkout

      • Do you need to change the location on the account to US first?

        • Yes, need to login to amazon.com US site. I use my same account for all amazon sites, works just fine.

  • Thanks, OP.

"Congratulations! You received a reward. The credit has been applied to your account successfully. To learn more about…"

Fired-up my VPN and immediately redeemed it to offset the cost of some movie rentals (just had to pay the USD0.97 balance).

  • I could have made thousands when I marathoned Two and a Half Men..

      Profound.

      Have you met Captain Obvious?

    • +1

Here, there? Isn't there just here with a 'T'?

  • Worked for me. Ended up using it on a $25 US Itunes gift card. Thanks OP.

    • Can you use that on an Australian account?

I can't seem to find any iTunes gc on Amazon

      • +1

iTunes and google play cards are region locked. You’d need to change your Apple ID or google play store region to use it… (with US billing address and US payment method) whenever you want to update those apps, you’d need change back to US and keep in mind, these US gift cards may not apply to your subscription services on Netflix australia etc

I hope people actually understand this if this was their intention

        • Thanks, was looking to gift an iTunes card, I don't have iOS, not sure why I was negged

          • @TEER3X: Not sure either… was a valid question (btw I did not neg you)

      • Nah US account only. I have all my movies in a US library. Prices are much cheaper there plus easy to get cheap US movie codes.

  • Ah a gift for my e girl

  • Got it! Thanks OP, stacks with a $15 US amazon coupon I still haven't used for $20 US. Now need to find something to use it on.

  • Aflac is there

  • Thank you!

  • Cheers Op. Watched the video, riveting stuff. Now, what to buy with any USD$5. Any suggestions?

  • It's not Gift Card balance, but Promo Balance which is much less usable, I mainly get digital game keys with it.

  • Aflac!

  • Anyone had any luck redeeming this for digital Switch games or eshop cards?

Had a $10 eshop card in my cart and it remained $10 when I went to checkout. No mention of credit there either

    • It shall show on the left hand side when you choose the shipping.

  • Tried to get command and conquer remastered with the discount but no luck even though it says "sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC".

  • ASSFLAK

Er…is this still working? I see: Sorry, this promotion is unavailable right now due to popularity, check back soon!

  • Por favor?

  • Seems to be expired, albeit temporarily. "Sorry, this promotion is unavailable right now due to popularity, check back soon!"

  • So did anyone find anything worthy to use it on? The whole thread doesn't shine any light on any ideas to purchase. All i can see is a ITunes card and some other old pc game

    • +1

Given shipping has jumped up so much from Amazon US due to Covid, digital products are really your only option. So if you can find some sort of digital gift card to buy, such as a Nintendo eshop card or something to take advantage of the US region switch store deals? Physical products just wont be worth it with shipping alas.
