With all the new COVID activity, I'm so close to pulling the trigger on this one.
Anyone OzB reviews on this game?
The components are quality but the game is very swingy and luck based as you're limited by your dice rolls heavily with no negotiation or ways to mitigate. For the price, it's not a bad buy if you're just starting out your collection and want cheap that can play a while. I would pay the extra for Catan instead personally if you wanted something similar.
Its weird, is shows me the price you say but when added to cart changes to $70
Its back up to $70. Maybe a price error initially?
Wow… that was quick. Seems like the price went back up to $70.
Didn’t seem that great a game https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2011487/island-el-dorado-th…
Quest for El Dorado is the game to get https://www.boardgameoracle.com/en-AU/boardgame/price/ZZsrjO…
Great deck building game. Heaps of community maps out there as well
I've had this game for a while, and have all the expansions as well. No two games are ever the same, because the tiles that come out are not only random but placement is up to the player revealing. Whilst the dice rolls have significant factor with who wins, there is a lot of strategy surrounding the placement of tiles, location of where you set up your fortress and how you spend your resources (which is just three values: food, gold and timber). It's a great game that will play through under 1 hour. My favourite part of the game is The Cave, which is randomly placed and players must reveal tiles in search for the final Shrine - anything can happen including revealing a tiger, pirates and other nasties.
The components are also top notch. Love the design, quality and feel of everything. It's a very well thought out and designed game with simple mechanics that contains levels of strategy. Definitely highly recommended. Great for two players, but a lot more fun with up to four with a lot of one-on-one player battles dictated by dice rolling and the character selected (each has their own "skill" that has advantages/disadvantages).
No idea what the game is but I got it anyway. Seems cheap
