  • "True 30% discount"
-works on parts upgrades as well!

edit: well for a minute i thought OOOOWWWW!! they are crafty little bas..ds!!
Because the full price of the upgraded part adds to the final discounted price and they still change the "cash off".

Later i found the upgrade options are already discounted (comparing say XPS 15 to non discounted xps 15z model)!

    second though……they are crafty

  • How does Moneybackco work?

    • +1

      you need to register first!
but i got an email from them that they are changing the name from "Moneybackco.com.au" to "Starthere.com.au" and not accepting anymore new registrations with "Moneybackco.com.au".

      so…..

1)you have to register at "https://www.starthere.com.au"

2)then use their dell link "http://www.starthere.com.au/shopping/Dell/"

3)which will take you to DELL's site! buy what ever you want!

      4) play the waiting game!
      - the transaction will show up in few days and you will get your cash back in few months!

Ps: I have used "Moneybackco.com.au", they charge $10 annual fee from your cash back(if any) and pay the rest! But the new "Starthere.com.au" (i have not used yet) seem bit greedy and they have membership tiers (more you buy==> higher tier==> more cash back)

In this case (DELL) Moneybackco.com.au used to give 7% cash back, but with Starthere.com.au you get 5.25% at that highest tier.

edit: Just logged into "Starthere.com.au" (with Moneybackco user id and password ) it said
"Your current user level is Founder
It doesn't get any better than this!"

and looks like I can get 7% cash back on DELL!

      • And as long as you buy $100 of stuff per year you'll keep it. :/

I think I prefer the old mbc. :/

how is this a "special"? I recall they are always around $1300-1400, I mean they say XPS17 is having "$600 cash off", so that means they usually costs $1900-$2000??!! WTF I dont remember they usually cost that much! I mean for $1600 I might as well buy the Asus G74 from one of the deals earlier on: (dunno if it's still active tho)

XPS is a premium laptop. The dell inspiron is what you are thinking of

      • nope! I was talking about XPS17, please get ur fact s right first! The inspirons dont cost $1300-1400, just look at the DELL site!

BTW the XPS is not a premium laptop, Alienware on the other hand is! The specs of a XPS can easily be matched by other brands like Asus/HP and others!

Please tell me where which of these inspiron laptops costs over $700! Geez…
        http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-laptops.aspx

If you are so incline knock urself out and buy a few! Good luck with that! LOL

  • Are these laptops the same specs as the ones they had on sale last June (the models numders are the same)? If so, this deal is nowhere near as good as the last sale, considering that prices should have come down a lot more since then.

    • it's actually gone up since the last signature sale, just do a search on OZB and you'll see, XPS17 with the same specs was going around $11xx a couple of mths ago. go figure…cant believe DELL would jack up prices and claim "$600 cash off"….

As you can see the one significant upgrade is the CPU. However, as previously stated, I don't think this justifies the tiny movement in the price tag. No doubt Dell will cite the usual lame excuses such as the Aussie was stronger then and the flood in Thailand, blah, blah, blah. Just think about how much you pay for that tablet or phone 6 months or so ago!

  • For those interested in the XPS17, you can get a "free" upgrade to te FHD panel by removing the gizmo at home help package and adding the screen upgrade. They are the same price, give or take.

  • I was watching the XPS 17 and it was $1800 with $400 off, before this sale, and you could have also got the XBox and Office deal for an extra $200. Now it's $2000 - $600, so it's the same price, but at least you get the 30% discount off upgrades. The Gizmo thing was also $35 and now it has gone up to almost $60 including the 30% discount, so definitely worth removing.

    • I was wrong, this version was slightly upgraded from the previous $1800 version. It had 8GB RAM ($100 premium from 6GB) and Blu-ray player ($200 add-on). Legitimate deal, but they do have 30% off every few months.
